  • Gender wars: Katy Gallagher accuses Mitch Fifield of mansplaining
    THE AUSTRALIAN
    FEBRUARY 11, 2016 11:07AM
    Rick Morton
    Social Affairs reporter
Senator Katy Gallagher accused Mitch Fifield of 'mansplaining’.
The spectre of the gender wars has been invoked in Senate estimates this morning after a line of questioning by new Labor senator Katy Gallagher resulted in a spat between her and government minister Mitch Fifield in which she accused him of “mansplaining”.
Senator Gallagher was asking about the status of social security legislation the day after Malcolm Turnbull became Prime Minister and whether there was any change to the introduction of bills, with Senator Fifield explaining that these were matters for the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.
The argument went on, with Senator Gallagher rephrasing the question a number of times.
“Thanks for the mansplaining,” she said toward the end of the first session of Community Affairs estimates.
“Imagine if I said you were womansplaining,” Senator Fifield said, before adding she was being “sexist”.
Senator Gallagher said his answers had been “patronising and condescending”.
“I thought we were having a good-hearted exchange, I just find it extraordinary that you or any senator at this table would seek to invoke gender in impugning how a senator is responding,” Senator Fifield said.
“Let the record show that Senator Gallagher thinks it is appropriate to refer to a senator as mansplaining.
“I am appalled, quite frankly. I am not endeavouring here to give a cabinet handbook description of the legislative process. Take a good look at yourself.
“If I said to a female senator you are womansplaining, stop being a hypocrite, conduct yourself appropriately for this place. Hypocrisy, thy name is Labor.”
Senator Gallagher responded: “I think you need to settle down, really.”
“Welcome to federal parliament,” Senator Fifield said.
Senator Gallagher, incensed, said: “Oh, where the big people play?
I’m not the one having a breakdown.”
The session was called to order and the senators moved on to more sedate questions.
    What is ‘mansplaining’?
    Urban Dictionary explains:
Originally, this term was used to describe boorish men who felt the need to “correct” what a woman said, even on topics that the man didn’t know anything about.
However, the term quickly degenerated into a get-out-of-jail-free card used by angry women when a man dares to point out even the most blatant error.
Old: That Bob is trying to tell Jill how to raise a horse? She’s raised championship thoroughbreds for decades and he’s never even ridden a horse. What a stupid mansplainer!
New: OF COURSE HAMSTERS KNOW HOW TO SPEAK IN RUSSIAN! STOP MANSPLAINING!

      +Clopin_Is_My_Thing {add clop joke here}
1.) The greens believe in paying non-for-profit organizations taxpayers money as compensation for being "helpful"... ironically that means those organs will make profit and most likely change their model for that. that sounds good on paper but will eventually have negative repercussions.
2.) They want to convert the entire country to 100% renewable energy. That also sounds very good on paper but who the fudge is going to pay for that? it would cost 10's-100's of billions just to get it kickstarted. Renewable energy currently has high maintenance costs. I am sure it will still produce more than it costs but who is going to pay for it? They have nothing listed in their policies. So most likely, the tax-payer.(again)
3.) They claim that we should reform the Australian military to be 100% purely for defense against foreign threats. They also want to secede from the USA's protection... which is self-defeating really. That means not only would we be alone with NZ... but we would have to fight the war on our own shores. Which would destroy our economy and possibly lead to the deaths of many citizens. Oh and don't forget how small our army is anyway... and our hand-me-down equipment.
4.) They also want to de-classify everything. Freedom of information... sounds good on paper again. But our possible future enemies can easily exploit it to their advantage... I mean, that is why things are classified to begin with. Oh well... it wouldn't matter since we would lose any war anyway with our small, poorly equipped army only trained to defend instead of fight. shucks....
5.) They openly support SOCIAL JUSTICE. Yes... they believe being born white, cis and male makes you an oppressor. Even if you are a homeless orphan. GG.
6.) They believe in equity, not equality. They sound similar and are similar... but have a fundamental difference. It means they can legally legislate racist and sexist laws because REASONS. in other words, they could make white, cis males pay higher taxes even if they were poor or not allowed to hold certain jobs because REASONS.
7.) This is the only line they have talking about how they will fix our economy... no joke it is hilarious! "Only the Greens have the guts to stand up to billionaire companies so we can manage our economy in a way that cares for people and the environment." No joke... that's it. In other words they could not care less about our economy.
8.) They want to completely open Australia's borders to everyone. They claim that closing the refugee camps with save hundreds of millions but... what about the costs of training these foreigners English and teaching them a trade so they can work? It is clear that their methods will cost way more and with open borders there are going to be massive increases of immigrants from all over the world. Who is going to pay for them? The tax-payer of course.
9.) they want to raise the cost of food... so people will feel like choosing healthier food is an option... like WTF! Oh so make food so expensive that people will only buy salad? GG greens. GG.
10.) they also want to abolish newstart allowance and youth allowance.... because your parents should be paying for you! NOT THE TAX-PAYERS!!! (even-though they make them pay for everything else)
11.) They will eradicate free trade. yes... free trade will no longer exist. rather "fair" trade. what fair is has not been defined as anything except making our farmers compete better. which is probably the whole higher cost of food thing I cited earlier.
So yeah, those are all the shit things they are doing :) Stay informed and read their website sometimes :D Man it is going to be great being known as the person who voted to get rid of welfare, increase the cost of eating, destroyed our already terrible military, supported sexism and racist laws to be created, and forced everyone to pay for foreigners. But don't worry, you helped 520,000 houses with solar panels.

"Mansplaining" is an aggressive, arrogant, rude, misandryist term used as a sexual accusation in debates by some woke women who seem to actually believe they are unable to successfully argue the merits of a subject in detail with men. It's a form of public emotional recoil proclaiming, "How dare you try to express to me what I am supposed to know and believe just because I am female!" The problem with this is that an empowered women should realize how weak and irrational such a position makes her with such a posture. It's form of false logic to attack the person instead of the facts of the matter at hand.

All of us occasionally say something stupid, get called on it, and say "you're right, sorry" and then move on with the conversation. Politicians feel like they have to show they already know everything and are flawless, and so end up being far more idiotic and flawed than a normal person who adapts to inputs.

I suppose there are words which "were used" but are used no longer due to having been forgotten or are out of current use. I can't recall the latin word for "cliffhanger" for example and there are sure to be exotic languages which have been forgotten.
There are also perhaps words that are yet to be used, due to not having been created yet. An example would be the word for the fictional alien race in Star Wars episode 10. There would be a vocal sound to imply the concept however the concept is yet to be created.
I suppose the matter depends on how one defines a "word" and whether a word is still used/exists if nobody knows of it.

When someone can admit they’re wrong and move forward, that’s when a change for good will finally show. @@anonym1168 Since when did explaining your position require a gender to be put in front of it? And why is it always one-sided, with no one EVER using the word "womansplaining"? The act of calling it "mansplaining" is itself disrespectful for making a simple action everyone does tied to a gender. This is often used as an excuse to discredit or completely disregard any point that is being made. You could say what I am doing right now is "mansplaining" because I am a man, and I am explaining a position because a question was asked. However, this is how a normal conversation works. If you are a woman, and I am explaining this to you, that does not make it disrespectful. This simply makes you informed of my position on the matter.
Think about it. You would never disregard someone's opinion because of their race, would you? You wouldn't say "Stop blacksplaining" to someone who was black trying to talk to you about a subject you disagreed with, would you? Why do the same with gender? The made-up word literally serves no purpose other than to divide people and be used as an excuse to ignore what someone says. It is toxic in nature and should be removed from people's vocabulary. Feminism used to be better than this, fighting for true equality, not using petty insults and degradations to look better than their male counterparts.
