    I try to work on these check points on the range, but often lose focus because I hit too many balls.

    excellent video - love the tip with getting tilt right by using the hands. So looking at various sites I see some contradictory takes on the downswing, particularly whether or not there is a lead hip bump. In one source a driver instructional shows -- as correct and desirable -- a move to a left side where the left knee is pretty flexed, but the trail leg is more or less extended. I see in other videos the Sam Snead squat look (as in this video) where the left knee separates further from the trail knee and both remain flexed until the big push off to get the release. Any thoughts?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  Před 3 lety

      Hello!
      Thanks for the kind words.
      Yes...lots of thoughts..
      Of course it starts with the FACT that EVERYONE golfer will some SOME amount of FORWARD SHIFT, TURN and EXTEND.
      The goal is to find the correct MIX of these moves to get the hips to the wall
      These videos should help:

      What do you do for in between clubs?

    Great content as usual, and particularly like the knee tap for proper tilt at setup. You guys surely know the golf swing better than I ever will, but it seems like the takeaway is more that differences at setup cause a difference in impact position more than the swings being fundamentally “ different” from each other. Agree? That idea would be reassuring to me because I want to build ONE, repeatable swing that works across all ball positions and clubs rather than feeling like I have club dependent swings.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  Před 2 lety

    Eric, Great videos, all a cut above what I’ve seen elsewhere. I’ve played the game for thirty-five years and am still confused by the driver swing. Seen from overhead, the swing path is an arc; so with ball placed further up in your stance for the driver why hasn’t the club begun to turn back in too soon, before the ball has even been reached? I hope that’s clear. Put another way, if you drew an arc and put a dot where the ball for an iron shot is on that arc and them, without changing the arc, moved the dot forward, it, the dot, would no longer be on the swing path at all. Capisce? So you have to make some adjustment. I just don’t know what that adjustment is, and my drives, I’m afraid, reflect that.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  Před 2 lety

      That is assuming your body is in the same place it started
      What happens when you body is rotated toward the target? Where do the hands go?
      Driver ball more forward to change the vertical angle of attack to more up...
      You will be hitting up and slightly left on the arc ....unless you move your swing direction more right (which many players do with setup more closeD)

      Eric Cogorno Golf hey I mean like in the downswing pushing back off of it to create that ‘jump’

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  Před 4 lety +1

      Oh I gotcha!
      I think in terms of what you are FEELING....more or less the same.
      If we were to measure specifically.....like if I was taking a written test.....the answer would be you may see some differences.
      Where YOU are with your swing and priorities I would say best bet to assume "yes you are still pushing, roughly the same time"

    Eric, One thing you guys did not talk enough about ;) When you initiate your downswing, I notice that your legs (knees) move in opposite directions. In other words, you attempt to “sit down”. This I think adds to the power of your swing. IMHO, I would like to hear more about this move :)
    BTW, I’m almost 70 and the move I mention is one that I’m working on now :)

    Isn’t the set up steps the same for all clubs but the length of club dictates position/tilt dynamically due to club length? I think it adds complexity to something that is already complicated enough when thinking of different swing for different club? Also, I was under the impression that turning of the shoulders should pull the pelvis /hips around in backswing ? In this video I think you said “ once club is parallel then push pelvis around to complete the swing”?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  Před 4 lety

      Hey! Thanks for the message
      1. The amount your upper body is bent over (flexion) is determined primarily by the length of club. Shorter club, more bent over. Longer club taller. Thats all.
      2. I don't ever think about changing my amount I'm bent over from club to club, we are simply explain things here .
      3. I think you and he are saying the same thing there.

    Why when I swing a driver 105 mph but my 6 iron is only 78 mph . I do have major casting probs with irons . What would an expected 6 iron speed be with my driver speed

    • @CorekBleedingHollow
      @CorekBleedingHollow Před 4 lety +1

      ccmorgan53 a 6 iron club is not supposed to swing as fast as a driver because it’s way shorter than a driver.

    I have a question about ball position in relation to tee height. If I'm playing an older driver (43") with a smaller club head, should my ball position be farther back (as well as lower) than it would be for a longer driver with a larger club head?
    I find I have trouble squaring up at impact with drivers longer that 43". Also, I've tried making my own shorter drivers with 460cc heads, but they just feel weird compared to drivers with smaller heads.

      Hey Steve!
      Could be.
      I do not know.
      I don't think there is a universal yes vs no for this. Logic would say "yes" but you would need to test both and see what wins.

    Why is he straightened his rt leg on the back swing with the driver and if you lead with the shoulder downward in the downswing you are automatically setting the club to come over the top with a dead pull to the right... Just saying your tips aren't that helpful for some are creating more issues... Like the one about keeping the clubface square to the arc though.

  • @scottdixon1667
    @scottdixon1667 Před 4 lety +1

    No such thing as driver vs iron swing.
    Ball position is the only variable.
    There’s just one swing.
    And the downswing sequence at 12:00 is incorrect.

    • @scottdixon1667
      @scottdixon1667 Před 4 lety

      At 13:18, you early extended due to an incorrect downswing sequence.
      You lost at least 7 mph club head speed from that initial move.
