    Pipe type Earthing: For Pipe type earthing normal practice is to use GI pipe [C-class] of 75 mm diameter, 10 feet long welded with 75 mm diameter GI flange having 4-6 numbers of holes for the connection of earth wires and inserted in ground by auger method. These types of earth pit are generally filled with alternate layer of charcoal & salt or earth reactivation compound to reduce the earth resistance.

    Very good demonstration on how to install a good but “sacrificial” earth ground in soil that provides a poor ground on it’s own. Of course there are some better chemicals available, but the salt and charcoal are very effective. Also taking a healthy pee on it occasionally helps too. I learned that trick working at remote tower sites in Texas. In some areas the phone line would be on a single insulated strand of barbed wire. At the tower in the remote location was a ground rod to make the circuit. When you picked up the phone and the dial tone was scratchy. You went outside and watered the ground rod. That fixed it every time:-).....

    A ground rod would not work well in as dry a ground as they have. They are creating a better ground because salt draws moisture from the air. Salt water is a much better conductor than dry ground. The salt will keep it moist for a very long time therefore a very good ground system.

      Steel fence rail, rock salt, vermica , dirt. In order as put in pit.
      I would recommend in DRY areas adding a 3 Three inch or larger PVC pipe along side that you cap the bottom and drill 1/8 inch holes down the bottom half about 2 onches apart in a straight line to bottom then add a screw cap to top of pipe.
      Leave top of pipe about 3 inches above ground.
      After final insulation fill with water TO TOP.
      After that check the water level every few days until you learn how often you have to refill pipe to keep area around grounding system MOIST to improve grounding

  • @glenmartin2437
    @glenmartin2437 Před 4 lety +1

    Looks like they used the top rail for a chain link fence, which is more readily available than a copper clad steel ground rod.
    The crystals are probably sodium chloride (table salt) to increase ground conductivity, and provide a better electrical ground connection.
    This works fine for the sandy soil they drive the ground rod into. For rocky soil, the metal tube would bend, crack and break with the first few rocks the fence rail encountered.
    A good idea for improvisation or amateur field day set up.
    Was the ground resistance measured- probably not.

      Ground is ground. It doesn't short out the three phases. Ground connections are isolated paths. You can connect any amount of plugs and switches as you wish. Because, as long as your RCCB would not allow any curremt above 50mA to get grounded. It will shut down the whole system automatically.
