I've seen that LT game vs the Saints and indeed that was a game where a guy totally willed himself to not only play, but play at a high level. I love that this list ended up with an old time classic player being #1 but man, it had to be someone picking apart poor ol' Dan Fouts. Honestly, 3 of those INTs were more his fault than anything else.

I wish JPP’s SNF game against the Cowboys in 2011 was on this list. He was absolutely all over the field and if I remember right he had 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and the game winning blocked kick that helped propel the Giants into the playoffs and eventually the Super Bowl that year

@@huh8896 Most QBs averaged about 4 INTs per game back in the 40's... Ok I'm embellishing the facts a little bit, but not that much. Even greats of the era like Unitas and Namath consistently had games where they'd throw a couple picks. However, QBs didn't get protection from a dozen different rules like they do today. I'd be slinging the rock into double coverage on occasion too if I got hammered by old school D every pass attempt. An interception beats a broken leg every day of the week in my book!

Aside from 4 passing TDs on Offense & 4 interceptions on Defense, "Slinging" Sammy Baugh was also a Punter on Special Teams & even led the league in Punting one year as well. The man is a Legend in every sense of the word. That type of production will never be seen again!!
Charles Tilman was always one of my favorites.
I actually had his jersey and not Urlachers during those years. Tillman was always in the big games making plays when needed most. Dude was a legend. A FF and turnover machine. Loved Peanut Tillman

And you know what's crazy? In the next game against the Steelers in the AFC Championship he took ANOTHER interception for a 75 yard TD on the opening drive. In 63 minutes of post-season play.... 5 ints and a pic six. Wow. Bravo for putting this at #1. Subscribed!

You guys forgot James Washington's performance against Buffalo in Super Bowl 28. Forced a fumble, recovered a fumble and returned it for a TD to tie the score, intercepted a pass that eventually lead to the game clinching TD, and led the Cowboys in tackles with 11.

Ronde Barber versus Donovan McNabb in the NFC championship game. All anyone remembers is the pick 6 that shut the Vet down, but there was so much more! Many passes defended, blitzes, sack/fumble and the pick 6. That was just in the second half! Definitely worth an honorable mention!
Vernon Perry followed that up with a pick six against Pittsburgh in the AFC CHAMPIONSHIP game. He basically kept the Steeler dynasty alive one more year. Because if San Diego has done what they needed to do, they would’ve hosted Pittsburgh and likely smoked them again. They had the formula to beat Noll’s team but only played them once in the playoffs...that forgotten 31-28 comeback win in the 82 tournament. People talk about the 80 team and rightfully so, but 79 was theirs for the taking too.

GREAT CHOICE with Vernon Perry. And he followed it up with a pick six against the Steelers in the AFC Championship. The only TD they scored in two title games against the back to back champs.

Surprised JJ Watt wasn't on here. Also, Miller usually gets all the credit for that SB performance, but you could also say that Demarcus Ware was just as, if not more impactful on the SB and AFC championship games than Miller.

Second, the reason Miller gets recognized more is because you're right, he definitely made the difference making plays. But if you want to talk about consistent pressure throughout the game, Ware was no doubt more consistent. Especially in the AFC championship game where he alone hit Brady like 7 times, had 2 sacks, and was consonantly in his face. The pressure he put on Brady on the last drive the Pats had was incredible. I don't think I've ever a defensive player take over a drive like that before. Like literally 75% of the plays on that last drive he was getting pressure on the QB.
My point is the things that Ware did in those two games he don't necessarily show up on the box score, like getting pressure on a 3rd down to force a 3 and out, or forcing an early incomplete pass (did this so many times against Brady that I lost count, so many of those passes were close to intentional grounding too). And because of that his effort largely gets grazed over and overshadowed by Miller, and that's not to say Miller didn't play fantastic, because he absolutely did. I just think that Ware was better.
How you give LT 2 games in the number 2 spot. They should be number 3 and 2 on the list. GOAT

Not in the NFL but I'm 11 and on my 6th grade team I got 79 tackles 3 interceptions 5 forced fumbles and 17 sacks in 8 games.
Me? LT verse Detroit was the the best display of dominance on the defensive side. He SINGLE HANDEDLY was the difference maker in that game. HIM and only HIM. All these other games were cool, but that one tops the list. Even his game verse NO was nothing short of legendary, but it doesn’t top his performance in Detroit. Greatest defensive player ever, showed the greatest defensive display , ever, in Detroit.

The Oilers had another great defensive performance Christmas Day 1993. The Oilers played the 49ers at Candlestick when the Niners had the highest-scoring offense in the NFL and the Oilers had only one healthy starter in their secondary. Steve Young, Jerry Rice and John Taylor would eat them alive, right?
The Oilers only scored 10 points but Buddy Ryan's defense shut the 49ers out until they managed an "Oh, by the way..." TD late in the game.

Imagine this......Derrick Thomas was supposed to be Kansas City's BEST defensive player in the 1993 NFL season, yes? Then how come...during the 1993 AFC Championship Game vs the Buffalo Bills his own team BENCHED him for the entire second half to give the defense a better chance at stopping Buffalo's rushing attack headed by Thurman Thomas?
Derrick Thomas was no 'Ultimate Bad Ass'. He was just 'LIMITED'. Bill Cowher was his linebacker coach and he said Thomas coasted on his talent and wasn't very coachable. he could only do one thing......rush the QB on obvious passing downs.

one you'll never hear of is Pat Chung against the dolphins in 2010. blocked punt which resulted in a touchdown two plays later, blocked kick which was recovered for a touchdown, intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown all in one half.

A.J. Duhe had an all time performance. The weather/conditions played so much of a factor in that game, and Duhe was the ultimate beneficiary.

With Arizona up by 20, Tony Kornheiser said that if the Cardinals lose this game they should just close the place down and turn it into a pizza parlor. As a Raiders fan, that Week 14 match vs the Broncos is one of the greatest performance I've ever seen from a player. Khalil Mack won us that game. I love Mack and hope he continues to succeed in Chicago.

Not the greatest performance on this list, but it was still an incredibly dominant night for Alexander. And honestly, the fact that he dedicated that game to his (then) recently dead brother made it THAT much more impactful.
I'm surprised there was no mention of Junior Seau's performance against the Steelers in the only AFC Championship the Chargers won in 1995. Sixteen tackles to shut down the best rushing team in the league and he got a stinger right before halftime that turned one of his arms into a rag temporarily.
It was Neil O'Donnell's 54 pass attempts that shut down the Steelers running attack
@@howardcosell2022 Bull. O'Donnell had to pass because about half the time the Steelers tried to run they lost yardage. They ran 26 times and averaged 2.5 yards per carry for 66 total yards.

The championship game is where he decided to change the offensive philosophy. No reason to abandon the run when your holding the lead throughout the game especially 54 pass to 26 runs. The next season 95, Steelers changed to a pass oriented team eventually costing them in the super bowl with O'Donnell's interceptions

Once again, NFL films completely ignores one of the most amazing performances any defensive player ever had. December 3rd, 1973, on Monday Night Football, Dolphins safety Dick Anderson got FOUR INTERCEPTIONS and RETURNED TWO OF THEM FOR TOUCHDOWNS. This does not even make the list? This could be argued for the top 3, if not #1 !
