  • Took some time to find what the best turkey load is and what load gets the best pattern. This is something ive been wanting to do for a while now and finally got around to doing it.

    Thank you for testing the shells and explaining the results. That’s very helpful for understanding and choosing the proper ammo for the hunt. Get better on your shoulder soon😂

    When I couldn’t find LBXR in 2.75 anymore I started looking. The Herters is where it is at! My Tom this last weekend hung up at 50 and was about to booger. It knocked him down flat! Great video! I know how expensive ammo can get and for a lot of people videos like this can help them narrow down what they are looking for. Thanks for making it, and it didn’t encourage me to shoot a bird far at all. Clearly you were just showing patterns. Lots of “experts” on here, but each persons setup is different so don’t listen to the hate! lol When I tested the Herters about a month ago at 40, it was deviating!!! I won’t be shooting anything else for turkey. For my setup it works great. Thanks again!

    Little advice. Take it or leave it. Get painters paper from hardware store 3'x3' as a backer on a palet.
    Looks like some of those shots were high right. A large background will show the whole pattern.
    I have a 930 the factory. 670 does fine. A Sumtoy. 660 does even better. Most loads shoot Point Of Aim (POA) however I had one Heavyshot load shot way right every time.
    Lessons learned if Point of Impact (POI) is different than POA. Get sights put on gun. Use the one with best pattern.
    You're missing the big picture if you don't have a big enough background.
    Good luck.

      There was definitely a lot of imperfections with the shot test but overall you can see where the majority of the shot hits on the paper definitely would change some things if I were to do it again

    I have used both cheap and the TSS and I haven't any issues shooting with any type shotshell. I think it depends how well you know your firearm and your confidence in shooting your firearm!! I always target shoot to know the pattern of my shotgun with any type of shotshell which is a normal thing to do and Learn!! Good Hunting, Good Luck and BE SAFE!!🦃

    I patterned my Beretta A400 Extreme Plus with its new Carlson Turkey Choke. My turkey load was Federal 3rd Degree 3-1/2" with 2 ounces of 3 shot sizes. At 45 yards, the patterns on the turkey head target were awesome. The Tungsten #9 shot part of the 2 ounce shot load was blasting through the 3/4" plywood backstop. The lead shot part did not go through. Had an idea and patterned 2-3/4" Federal Prairie Storm #6 ammunition. The results was as good or slightly better than the turkey loads. Go figure. Another idea popped up, I moved the Carlson turkey choke to my Beretta 1301 tactical shotgun. A 3 in chamber in the 1301, so I had to find some 3" Federal 3rd Degree. That only took a year. With the 1301 at 45 yards using a turkey choke, the patterns on a turkey head target were as good as the patterns from the bigger heavier gun. Threw in some of the Prairie Storm ammunition and it shot near perfect patterns. Plenty of pellets hit on the head and neck. Didn't see the complete penetration on any of the all lead loads. Will hunt with the turkey loads, but it isn't required. Prairie Storm ammunition uses a flite-control wad and has 1-5/8 ounce of lead #6 shot. They make a #5 shot version but didn't try those.

      @Noah_Remington The recoil of the very lightweight 1301 was shocking every shot. The A400 has a spring shock absorber in the stock but 2 ounces getting launched is 2 ounces...

    • @Noah_Remington
      @Noah_Remington  Před 3 měsíci

      @@nhwnhw02 I’m not to worried about the recoil, it was just a lot of loads back to back which hurt but that 2 3/4 herters wasn’t bad on recoil

    I thought you done really well on this video. Your not promoting any one shell. I've never used the tss just because of the price. However. I've used Winchester xx for over 30 years. I've taken allot of birds out to 60 with them. No joke. 2 seasons augo i started using the xr's. They shoot high but if you hold low they are lethal out to 60 no problemo. Good video man. Good luck out there. Oh yea by the way my shoulder is busted to hell to from them Winchester's. They really know how to build a shotgun shell.

    Looks like you got some trigger panic. Try squeezing the trigger and not punching it. Also try some iron sights not just front beed, all your patterns are high.

    Seems to me there's going to be a lot of broken teeth with those TSS loads. I thought the point of hunting was to eat the animal not turning it into mincemeat

    Question most were 4 and 5 shot but then 9 shot 🤨 they should all have been the same shot size if you were doing a true test

    • @Noah_Remington
      @Noah_Remington  Před 3 měsíci

      There was only one #4 shot a couple #5 and #6 shot and one #7 and #9 shot. I was really just trying to test as many loads I could get my hands on and test a variety of loads they all preformed differently and some did better then others. overall they can all kill a turkey at a certain distance. I feel like it still was a true test because of the variety of loads.
