What I’m most impressed with is your cool demeanor and positive attitude. I struggle with my emotions when I’m running bad and then refuse to play for weeks at a time. The mental game is more important than the card game in my opinion.
Yeah man mental game is essential. I just needed to push myself to get over the negative emotions form bad sessions since I can’t afford taking too many days off. For the most part I’m feeling good the next day to play. 💪
just fell upon your videos, i honestly really love that you include all the hands that you fold! Not many other vloggers do this. You also include some decent starting hands where you have to make tight folds. As a 1/2 player whos at the beginning of his journey this really helps a lot

I just found a video of yours yesterday. Six videos later, and this has become my favorite to watch.
I've played poker for 20 years. I try to play live as often as possible, but once a month is all that is possible at the moment. But I have always wondered what it would be like to play poker for a living. Your videos do a wonderful job of showing the grind (at least from my experiences when I can play). I also enjoy your positivity, even through the brutal beats you've endured lately.
All kudos to you, and it is a great bonus that making these videos is enjoyable to you. They definitely inspire me to give professional poker a go. I look forward to more videos, as I'm curious about away from the table things like eating/health regimens, what sort of perks you take advantage of given by casinos (and ones you stay away from possibly?), etc.

I really like the videos and especially the authenticity of seeing every hand (which I appreciate makes the videos a little longer). I also really like the updated win/loss count. The only thing I will say about the nails is that I think they can be distracting only because of the particular color and because it’s only one nail (so I think it jumps out more than if all your nails were colored). But you do you and keep it up.

Multiway set mining is like the greatest play ever.
Risk 1 to get 3 or more for at minimum one street is pretty good.
Better to have middle set though.
On the A34 board, idk about live players but online, OOP will check raise gut shots, made straights and sets there, possibly top pair.
Also 3 and 4 bet as high equity steals, value and bluffs?

Genuine question as I’m fairly new to playing live cash games but why don’t you just leave the table once you’re up a certain amount? Usually if I’m up over a buy in I try to get out, have a beer and go home. Granted I’m still trying to build my bankroll and move up in stakes so maybe I’m being overly protective of small gains and missing out on potentially huge gains but I feel like when I’ve tried to do that my stack just ends up dwindling and I end up leaving with significantly less than what I could have if I’d played it more safely.
Once you get the experience and knowledge of how be consistently profitable its good to stay and play. I think you should keep doing what your doing and when you get home study and play 6max cash online to build your skills up.
I like your channel the most because you show ALL hands.The pretty, the bad, the ugly. Thank you for being genuine and not luring other new souls into a game with false advertising and false hopes and false expectations. Here, what you see is really what you get. Its also a relief that you take your losses in stride because your still on the learnint curve so yeah, you will lose alot of these games tor a while
Can you make a living playing 1/3? Yes. Depending on a number of variables.
Should you make a living playing 1/3? No. Your winrate is going to be capped at a certain ceiling. One should be looking to move up in stakes as fast as possible while also learning and being aggressive with bankroll.
Going up in stakes 💯 I don’t know about being aggressive with your bankroll that just depends on your situation and how much you can risk

Questions like:
How old are you? Younger should be more aggressive.
Less responsibilities? Should be more aggressive.
Easy to replenish bankroll? Should be more aggressive.

Being up $500 having KK and AA and both lose too bring the stack below buy-in right at the end of your session that's what you call max pain poker. Keep positive least you know you played well and the money will come back around in the long run.

You might try cutting about half of your sc's from your opening range and seeing if your results improve. (It did for me.) Sc's don't make straights or flushes enough to play for value. They only have value as semi-bluffs in heads up situations which don't happen very often in 1/3. Save yourself the money and only play them sparingly in position in unraised pots. If the pot is raised preflop they have even less value in shallow stacked games. Ed Miller wrote an article on this subject in Card Player I think called 'How Suited Connectors are Losing you money."
Literally the worst advice I've ever heard. Giving up possible straights, flushes, 2 pair, trips, and bluffs. Especially on a tight 1-3 table. There's a reason you never see a pro fold connectors.
I kinda agree with this comment. 1/3 is some multi way bingo garbage game. Half the time you try to iso limpets you end up going 5 ways to a flop with 7 hi, 8hi, rendering your hand useless unless you flop something. Atleast broadway hands have the potential to make top pair hands and pocket pairs can make sets/ full houses. Also people don’t 3 bet aggressively in 1/3 so when you iso or open sc you’re gonna get flatted by better hands like aj aq ak kq kj suited and your flush is gonna be dominated, has happened very often. Scs are good if you can get heads up and are deep enough to apply pressure when you miss which is not the case since 1/3 is all multi way pots and shortstackers who are waiting for you to bet so they jam over ur bet.
.correct in short stacked games like this non broadway SCs go way down in value ..15, 25 , 35 rule

(my uncle has 4!) ... question; playing for income, do you have a win percentage cutoff where you'd cash out earlier once hitting X times initial buy in? i.e, quadruple up cash out/bank it while ahead?

I think I would have 4bet the KK or even try to raise after the flop. Then you would know if you are up against AA or Pocket 10. Based on what you are telling us about the player. Maybe also you could share hiw much is your effective stack?
Here is my pocket 3’s story that happened last month at Hustler 1/3. In 45min I got 3/3 4 times

The fourth time I got them I let the older Asian guy sweat my cards- he had been watching me get paid with my sets. The flop comes out A,3,Q. The old man taps my leg under the table giggling. Turn blank, river 3 for quads. All in again and get paid. Pretty good for 1/3, left with a nice $600 win

Your results are so familiar, get ahead on the grinding mundane hands then lose big pots with hands when being ahead then river improves the villain. It always feels better to be on the right side of those swings?

Enjoyed the format of your vlog. Realize this is serious editing and time consuming. Found a couple of times on a suited 1 gapper you folded that I would have seen a flop. But your playing style as a solid TAG was fun to watch. Variance bites all of us. For $1-$3 you may be playing a tad too tight. Your play today fit $2-$5 or $5-$10. But against aggressive fish might consider slightly looser.

My winnings is on green and half dozen loss. I say about 3-4 years. I played 2-5 couple times. I’m 1-1. My question is should I move up 2-5 and skip 1-3. I always start at $300. But, 2-5 I thinking about 500-$700. Can I get opinion. Thanks
Usually best move is to play 2-5 since it’s almost harder to win 1-3 sometimes because of the rake. Specially when there’s bigger games and the pool of 2-5 is bing since they games will probably be pretty soft. I think at the casino I play is an exception since the rake is lower than most and they give a lot of promotions that helps a lot with the hourly

Quick research, Jamul is capped at 300 which is okay. But the low buy-in of only $40 is bad. Will definitely hurt your hourly. Also not sure of rake but CA rake is usually high so that's going to eat at a lot of your profits.
Rake is just 5 at Jamul that is really low for California. Yeah I try to be at tables where there’s not many players that buy in for the minimum
Terrific show and approach, thank you. I liked and subscribed. I do think the pocket kings you could’ve saved yourself some money. You have an astute read on the player of being very strong with the reraise. So you could 4! to $100, and after he 5! it is a trivial fold with this player. Largely this can be called a cooler, but since you do such a good job of your read on the player, that’s potentially a way to save yourself $200 by not getting cute.
Thanks for watching! If I 4bet to 100 I don’t think I can fold to a jam. 200 to win a 600 pot and the chance that he can have other hands apart from AA. I’ve folded KK preflop before but never when we’re just 100bb deep
@@Pokerbabbo I appreciate the response. I also understand that nine times out of 10 you are just getting stacks in with KK with 100 bb. But maybe it's worth thinking about the hand reading and ranging separate and apart from the math. Five betting at 1/3, with this player and 95% of the pool, means a range of KK-AA. If your hand is KK, you are a huge dog to that range.
Going back to the math, you are a 23% dog to the range. You are getting 3 to 1 odds here, so you need 25%. Based on how you have described this player, I don't think there is even a sliver of QQ in his 5! range.

The point is to win as much money as possible. I’m profitable in these games so on the long run the longer I play the more money I’ll make. As well the deeper we are the higher our hourly will very likely be. There’s sessions that I’ve made a lot more than 500 that wouldn’t have happened if I have a limit on my profit. All this of course if you’re feeling good and playing good. That’s why I ended up leaving a little early. I’d say that a recreation would probably be better off early since they will probably be losing money on the long run so might as well book the win
Exactly, then he would only book a $200 win if he leaves. He could easily lose $200 the next time he plays. Really gotta get that stack up to around $900 before you call it quits
A win is a win is a win. If you are plaing to win the max then you are a rec.
If you can buy in for $200 and double that and are playing for a living you take the win. The key is to build rour bankroll and move up in stakes. Thats where the money is. It very difficult to be profitable at very low stakes and beating the rake is a big part but In my 20 years of playing the hardest part about winning low stakes is the player pool. I always say it's had to beat stupid.
Players regularly over value their hands so bluff are more difficult and you almost have to have the nutz because a player with K-2 on a 5-9-k board will almost never fold to a C bet and if the runout is 3-7 and you go all in with AQ as a bluff these player just never fold.
When I play 1-2 I find I have to completely change my strategy.
@@bbuzek1 man I have to stop ready the moment I read that “if you’re trying to win the max you’re a rec” that logic is just so off. It’s all just one long sessions. It doesn’t matter in a individual day if you book a win or not it’s just one long grind.
It all depends on your objective and Bank Roll.

i mean are you there to win money or are you there to see flops? 2:56 is an absolute torch preflop, just giving your money away. just setting yourself up to get set over set here. he opens 6bb utg and the rake is prob a 2.5/3bb cap. you want to take down pots preflop by playing 3b or fold when rake is this high

Run bad is a real thing. Is 4 betting KK the better play? Maybe gives you a better idea of what his range is? I think the 50 dollar bets seemed like straight value. JJ or QQ maybe bet once. Seemed like dude was just hoping to get called each time.
If I think he has a very strong range I like calling with KK to keep some weaker hands in. I definitely think he’d be betting QQ and JJ this way. Honestly I was surprised that he bet with AA this way. Would expect him to try and get it all-in by the river

Yuck, tough way to lose on this session. I would have liked to see a raise on the turn against the AA hand. Maybe it ends up the exact same way but I think you’d have a better chance of getting away from KK depending on his call/raise action.
Maybe if we where deeper but in this situation a raise on the turn would be going all-in since it was just 150 behind

out of curiosity doesn't poker beast play at this casino? he hasn't put up a vlog in over a year when he busted at the wsop in vegas was wondering if he is still playing poker?
Yeah he used to. For what I heard he’s just playing at 7 miles now and not making any content
JTs vs any 2 cards has 57% equity. so you're giving up 14$ in equity which is 5bb, that's a lot. not to mention the 12 (4bb you put in) and the 12 from LJ (4bb more). so you're basically giving up anywhere from 10-15bb by folding if he's jamming any 2. you can't do that.
If he's jamming 43% of the time, your equity is roughly 46% and you're calling $88 to win $124. roughly 1.4 to 1 on call where break-even between fold/call is 41.66% so you're giving up roughly 4.5% of the pot of $124. there are spots where its close considering rake and how "off" you can be on reads. this is not one of those times. I'd re-jam this since LJ should not have a strong hand to call off with. I'd just call if we had a strong(er) hand though and hope LJ comes in.
Yeah that does make sense. In the moment I thought I could find a better spot against him than calling a Jam with JTs but I can see how Jamming can be the best play
this is why having a sizable bankroll is good because the notion of "wait for a better spot" is just.. a wrong way to play poker. not saying you should take every marginal spot but if you forego good spots to great spots (this falling between good/great), you're going to lose a TON of expected value in hands (and therefore, money)@@Pokerbabbo
here's a good example. you face a spot where your expected value is worth 0.25 bb for a call and 0 for a fold. Sure, 0.25 bb is not a big amount. That's only 75 cents you're giving up in a 1/3 game in that hand. However, if you do that 100 times (roughly 100 hands every 3 hours in live poker), that's 75$ which if you had that hand every time, you're giving up ~$25/hr.
