  • Luke's had the entire winter to use our Aurora 950 SX 8x8 outfitted with a plow, a track kit and full soft roof and windows for various duties around the house including plowing snow and put this video together outlining some details he really liked about the Aurora and a couple things we'd like to see ARGO improve on in the future.

Just turn the idle speed down a bit, idle screw on the throttle body. Once it's low enough that the cvt isn't engaging the belt it will shift easier.

Ideal speed adjustment will cure the back and forth shifting. Takes the torque off the drive belt making it easier to shift. The old Argos had the same problem. Reduce idle speed then shift quickly. In the older Argos when shifting from low to high I’d just go from whatever gear you were in shift to reverse then into the preferred gear. Love the machines. Made a living in them. 1980 to 2012

I agree with you 100% regarding the transmission. I have a new 2021 Argo Aurora 950 SX 8X8. The transmission is stuck in Forward Gear. I haven't hit it yet like you did, but I'm getting close.

Change the transmission oil if it’s having a hard time changing gears. I purchased a 2021 conquest that did the same thing. If it’s new and in the initial break-in period it will get really dirty with metal shavings. Change after first 20 hrs.

springs should be adjustable for resistance.. you can flip the stops for spring tension. Also. if you create a two line lift you will optimize your lift capabilities. Pulley to anchor point then hook up on a continuous loop at your top rack, that will decrease the load on you winch, slow down the lift. and safe your line.

    USED ARGO's:
We've had 2 used 6x6 ARGO's over the years and they both suffered from the same issue... *warn chains and sprockets* once this happens, you can't keep drive chains on it, (there are 4 to 6 of them), they keep jumping off the sprockets and then you can't move. They are expensive to replace.
The drive system would be way tougher if it had drive shafts or hydraulic driven axels.
(They are very slow to operate).

I also have the plastic supper track and these will capsize your Argo fast. The ballast effect happens when you turn.DO NOT RUN PLASTIC TRACK IN ANY DEPTH WATER. As for on land I found clay type mud will stick to the track and bring you to a stop. It builds up between the track and the body. The plastic track guides will brake depending on the terrain or if you side hill it puts a bind on them. I am aware there are other track options. I am referring to my experience with the Argo Super 18" plastic and rubber track only. It depends on what you are doing as to which track you should run.
