BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!! Angel Hernadez retirement NOT official!!!! When filling out his retirement papers, His signature was 4 inches outside the Signature Box!!!!!!!!!
LMAOOOOOO! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Someone, take his paperwork away and tell him to get back to the baseball diamond. Love him! My favorite umpire of all time.
This is a dad joke I approve of
"Electronics haven't been kind to Angel Hernandez..." Neither have people with functioning eye balls.
CB Bucknor just as bad if not worse too
Jim Joyce ruined history
@@PressStartLobby MLB needs to give Galarraga that perfect game.
@@PressStartLobby Yeah, but Jim Joyce apologized.
@@jfisher9918 Amen.
The MLB allowed this to happen for 30 years. They have to be held accountable as well.
The downside of a union... protecting incompetence.
@theycallmehoipilloi5495 same with the police unions
@@andrewgrove1691 Just about any union.
During last night's Cubs broadcast:
Jim DeShaies: "I see that Angel Hernandez retired. [Pause] I am not sure why I just thought of that."
Boog Sciambi: "Probably because that last strike was well outside the zone."
MLB must make sure another umpire cannot do what Hernandez did
Unfortunately the umpire's union will protect their guys .....no matter how bad they do their job
You mean what he didn't do
You have to make sure someone like him doesn’t get promoted. Maybe it was one of those token token minority hires 30 years ago that got him the job I don’t know? But you can’t have somebody that. Is that bad at the job ascend to the rank of major-league baseball umpire because that is like a Supreme Court Justice Being verified. You have a job for life.
@@gmonroy852 Angel Hernandez. Literally the human embodiment of the downside of unions.
CB Bucknor
He had the psyche of a bad cop. Meaning he got off on the ultimate power he possessed on the diamond.
The fact that everyone knows who Angel Hernandez is, is a testament to how awful he was.
The only time the fans should know the name of the umpire is went they get induced into the hall of fame because they’re good at they’re job.
Angel Hernandez, Joe West and Jerry Meals were the 3 Stooges of Umpiring
Don't forget Eric Gregg. His 1997 World Series plate umpiring was the most embarrassing moment in MLB
@@smurphftw2008Levan Hernandez led MLB in innings pitched countless times yet never struck out 200 in any season yet just magically turns into prime Randy Johnson in a WS start lol…..yea no.
I’ll take all of them but Hernandez!
At least Angel is a good man. He just sucks at his job
Oh god Jerry meals was a angel clone.. that one play at the plate with the pirates.. he admitted he wanted to go home cause the game was late and he was tired
Thirty years on the job and seems he never did figure out where the strike zone was. It was like he was just guessing. Probably the single worst at calling balls and strikes in all MLB history.
He was worse than any Little League umpire calling balls and strikes…which is not saying much for Little League umpires calling balls and strikes.
In my 55 years of watching baseball, he was the worst umpire I ever saw and it’s not even close
Oh, it's close. Have you forgotten Eric Gregg?
@@mc76 Eric Gregg was great IMO
It’s embarrassing the way things are set up with that union, he was allowed to stick around for so long. It’s also very evident that because he was so close to retirement, They cut him this great deal to simply retire now. So he got paid a lot more money for being one of the worst umpires of all time, they just wanted him out that bad. It’s a horrible precedent.
Umping is difficult and believe it or not, Angel statistically was not even the worst current umpire. I think the way Angel carried himself around the players though is why he is such a polarizing figure and so disliked. His inability to own any of his mistakes was his downfall
That, and his laughable lawsuit against MLB, which led to his incompetence becoming officially confirmed in a court of law. His ego and lack of self-awareness did him in.
Top 3 Worst Umpires in My Lifetime:
1) Angel Hernandez
2) "Country Joe" West
3) Eric Gregg
I agree with Hernandez and West. My 3rd was Jerry Meals.
Add CB Bucknor
1) John Hirshbeck
2) Eric Gregg
3) Ed Rapuiano
4) Mike Dimaro
All made Hernandez look like John Libka
Bill Hahn, also
don't forget laz diaz
These 2 look like Bert and Ernie 😂
Off topic...but yeah, absolutely.
That's not fair to Bert and Ernie...😂
The only thing that compares was Eric Gregg handing Levan Hernandez the largest strike zone I’ve ever seen in any MLB game….and it was the f’ing World Series. That wasn’t even real.
NLCS
Angel Hernandez should’ve been a weatherman
Angel Hernandez is terrible at his Job. Greeny isn’t lying.
Dude could make a killing with endorsements.
Lens Crafters would love to sign him.
Lasik surgery as well.
He could do public service announcements for the blind.
Angel Hernandez should be tried at The Hague for his war crimes.
Lol!! 😂 👍
True
Laz Diaz and CB Bucknor are still here
Bucknor has been almost as bad as Hernandez, imho. Good call on him & Diaz.
Joe West & Bill Hahn were terrible because they had to be the star attraction. So glad they’re gone.
A celebration is absolutely correct Greeny!
I saw a video the other day that listed that actually 18 other mlb umpires are statistically worse than Angel
Angel Hernandez was, and always has been, an NBA official in umpires’ clothing, the Earl Strom of baseball.
I am convinced angels in the outfield in 1994 was a shot at angel hernandez
The NFL and NBA would never allow a referee as infamous as Angel Hernandez to have a 30 year career
The NBA's Timothy Donaghy called a fairer game than Hernandez.
Joey Crawford was pretty close, idk. 😂
To quote S.L. Clemens: "There are lies, there are damn lies, and there are statistics." Statistically, Hernandez was no worse than average. One channel went so far as to say that Hernandez lost his discrimination case because his lawyers didn't argue the case well, not because the suit was meritless. His real problem seems to be that his mistakes were HUGE. He reminds me of a certain football coach whose .715 winning percentage at his last job looks wonderful, but included a 2-10-1 record in the rivalry game and a 3-8 record in bowl games.
NBA'S Referee Scott Foster retiring will be a great day also
To quote the many social media posts, “Angel retiring is the one call he got right.”
Baseball is going to be very boring now, without those random 'wildcard' calls from Angel.
Greeny isn’t lying. Angel Hernandez is terrible at umpiring.
It's a shame he ump'ed with his eyes closed... he missed some great baseball over the years
I’m tired of the horrible umps… Bring the robots in.
He can’t hurt anyone any longer. I hope he knows he was a failure at his career.
I disagree . Instead of umping he is now driving around like Mr. Magoo.
The reality is when someone like that is allowed to be employed for as long as they are shows that the organization doesn't care about the integrity of its game.
I Truly Believe That Angel Found Out That MLB Was Willing/Going To Put Automated Balls And Strike Tech And Umpire Reform In The Next CBA. So Angel Just Got Out As Fast As Humanly Possible. Now Every MLB Team Is Saying "Free At Last! Free At Last! Thank God Almighty We Are Free At Last!"-MLK
There are more than a few umps that are sad that Angel retired. Angel was so bad that he covered up how bad some of the other umps are in this league also.
Watch highlights of the Braves playoff game with Eric Gregg behind the plate. If a Braves pitcher threw it and it didn't bounce before the plate, it was a strike.
Can’t figure out how Hernandez was umpiring for three decades?
That falls at the feet of the Umpire’s Union. Now you know why the NFL doesn’t want full time officials.
“God I’m the greatest to ever umpire this game “-Angel, probably
Can you imagine being an older individual who has allowed his pride and arrogance to completely ruin both his current reputation and his legacy?
Angel Hernandez will probably sue MLB to be put into the HALL OF FAME 🤔
yes
I'm going miss Angel....as long as he was not doing Dodgers games....entertaining to watch!
MLB greased his palm well to avoid another law suit. He’s not the type who would go away quietly. He was trouble and MLB knew it
The funniest part were the obvious strikes that he called balls.
If anyone is sad to see Angel Hernandez retire, it is CB Bucknor, who was only a tiny bit worse than Angel. And fast approaching pariah, Laz Diaz a tiny bit behind CB.
Yo Hembo’s going for a flat top. Looks like he borrowed it from Steve Harvey’s lego wig collection
Great first point!
As an official in another sport,
you've done a great job when nobody even notices that you've reffed a good game.
They don't pay to see the officials.
I agree, although even not being a sports fan, I seem to recall one NFL referee and one NHL referee who were famous for their presence and their PA announcements on disputed calls.
I just googled it, and it was Ed Hochuli and either Kerry Fraser or Andy Van Hellemond.
Glad someone said this. He was god awful at his job and in no other industry would of kept his job or of been promoted to that high a level
Angel Hernandez is proof that DEI is our strength.
In football when you know a referee's name it's for a POSITIVE reason. Look at all the clips of Ed Hochuli out there.
I bet he will sue greeny for racism for this video
Marching hate at people only means that one day that hate will be marched right back. You all call him the devil, but we’re all devils in our own way.
Frank Drebin as the umpire in Naked Gun was based on this guy!!!
Terrible is too nice of a word for this evil demon on an umpire.
There’s a party going on at the commissioner and every locker room in MLB
Jeff Tripplette (NFL) is the only other official in sports I can think of that was just not good at his job ever, but Angel Hernandez makes Tripplette look like an officiating savant by comparison.
Sport official is a thankless job and they often get more criticism than they deserve. That being said, Angel Hernandez deserved every ounce of criticism for how he did his job.
And WHY don't you cowardly reporters ask the commissioner of baseball how Hernandez had a job for 30 years?
I swear I heard a cheer from all around the world when that news came out on Monday night
I blame the MLB more than anyone. They need to stop protecting and start holding them accountable. It seems like everyone else involved has consequences for poor performance, why not umps?
A real angel apparently bribed Hernandez: “Retire now and I’ll talk to the big guy about your afterlife. Whaddya say”?
Incompetence? or narcissistic abuse of power? Hard to believe some of these calls are accidents.
It's not official yet! Hernandez signed his name on the retirement papers 6 inches off the signature line.
The umpire union needs to be revamped
maybe he was bad, maybe not, but he got people like you all worked up over something that will not matter in 10, 5, 1 year from now
Now if we can just get Greeny to follow him there.
And MLB still permitted him to be that bad for over 3 decades.
You know what they say: Takes one to know one right?
Where has greeny been?? I haven't seen him in years.
I said the same thing to my buddy when I heard the news. Name the auto pitch tracking machine after him.
‘Horrribbbllle”- RIP Bill Walton
My dad wrote a letter to mlb in 1996 complaining about angel... and he was bad for 28 years after
Greeny always spitting totally original hot takes
best thing to happen to BB in decades.
And he didn't even care.
His ego and narcissistic attitude proves how much of an asshole he was.
"The celebration was remarkable to watch." Bet that dude is kicking back on his boat laughing at us.
Future Hall of Famer!
Breaking news greeny has a opinion on something
Everyone needs to watch the baseball doesn't exist video on this. Just came out. It's pretty eye opening.
Y is almost nobody mentioning Laz Diaz
So why didn’t MLB part ways with him years ago?
How the hell did he even get that job?!
Angel is retired, that's what many people wanted. So his out now leave him the f*** alone let him be.
This guy was an absolute embarrassment to the great game of baseball.
If they get graded than why did he not get fired or Demoted to the Minors?
Now let’s get CB Bucknor out of the game - I guarantee you he is the only guy sad at this news about Angel.
call the umpire-bot "Devil Hernandez"
I wonder if anyone made any money on those calls
The NHL has always had the best referees. NBA and NFL have solid refs. MLB's umpires have huge egos.
Greatest umpire of all time😂😂😂😂.
Does MLB give lifetime contracts to umpires that make it extremely difficult for them to get fired?
Every baseball fan is rejoicing with angel hernandez retirement good lawdddd worse umpire ever nasy to players horrible calls how mlb didn't remove this bum was beyond me trust me he wont be missed kick rocks sir
He'll make the HOF.
That doesn’t say much about the HOF, although it has never impressed me.
I don't know this show but the main guy used "famous" and "farther" in the wrong context.
That's corporate America for you. Incompetence tends to be rewarded. 😂
Umpires Union! …that’s how he kept his job!
He wasn't that bad - your teams just suck
The worst umpire in the league is better than any fan that criticizes umpires. It is MLB’s fault for thinking that humans can tell where a 90 mph fastball crossed home plate. Most umpires have the same amount of missed calls as Angel did. It’s just that Angel was chosen to umpire a lot of critical games because he was one of the better umpires in the league.
MLB tried hard to keep him out of critical games. So he sued playing the race card.
And nobody did nothing about it 🤦🏼♂️
Ya know who else is TERRIBLE at his job? #Greeny
There's always going to be people who want to have a different opinion just to be different. No one is coming to his defense saying he's getting a bad rap. Hernandez was that bad.
