- Hey guys! Remember the CRAZY popular Mae Kha Canal in Chiang Mai? It was like the IT spot when it first opened, with tons of people strolling the night market. Well, it's been almost 2 years since I vlogged about it, and things MIGHT have changed.
So, is the Mae Kha Canal still a tourist magnet, or has the hype died down? Did the shops stay the same? Did they add anything cool? I'm heading back to check it out and see what's happening there now!

Look back at 11:40 on your video where there was a girl getting her picture taken on the yellow bridge. Loo at that evening sky behind her. Man I miss that Thailand sky! Absolutely beautiful.

Made me think of the times early on when you often had to visit the 3 Kings.

Cheers Mark! The canal is looking good now. You can walk on the roads beside the Ping but not right next to it like the canal.

Hey Wayne! Tire chair/table quite ingenious! Like what they've done with the area; good mix of vendor services too. It's a "go to" area for casual shopping and relaxation. Quite nice to just chill there. Entertaining video! Continued good fortune, health and safe travels.

Nice location that canal Wayne. They've clearly put in an effort to upgrade it from what it was, assuming the canal on the other side and surrounds are a good indication of its original appearance. Top vid as always. Cheers man and congrats again on the 20K.

That's a very nice walk, I loved it, I would not love it if ut was crowded though but that was just perfect. Beautiful, relaxing, and very well manicured, the old dude smoking a blunt was just a classic man. Did it smell like a skunk? That's the good stuff.🤣 I'm def visiting that canal, that is quite a relaxing refuge when not crowded, aroi mahk Wayne.
Yes, I have to admit, it's not so pleasant when it's ram packed. I picked a very good day. The blunt smelled like something else had been mixed with it. He looked happy though haha. Cheers mate.
A real pleasant early evening vlog with a nice stroll along the waterway ( I agree with you about having a fence between the path and the water , much safer especially if you'd had a few singhas 😊 ) The people's all seem very friendly down that way

Cheers mate, yes I think the canal has gotten a lot better. It’s a nice place to get a coffee or a beer nowadays. They could do with that rail though.
I think you need to make your next walk around about Chiang Mai, a trip down to Suan Prung, probably stay a while. (a few months at least)
I will be in that area soon, near Thippanate road. No need to stay that area many months, I go past it every day.

Hi Wayne- in California, the 7/11's are mostly slummy stores with the check out staffs behind bulletproof cages. Thailand 7's are so very well stocked with everything and ultra clean, not expensive. Another little thing to love about Thailand👍
I never knew they was so bad in the US. I really want to travel across the US in the future and stores behind glass and cages would be all new for me, I've never seen anything like that.
@@WalkAboutWayne only speaking for what ive been seeing in California on mylast few yearly visits -the retail stores in the cities are not a great scene. Can't speak for the other 49 states, they may be all g🤣

They are developing the other side mate and it will have canal walkway all the way down to Ghecko Garden

I walked this klong two years ago at loi Kratong and put the gift into the water😊land when I stayed in Smith suites I bought my food at Kad Kom marked

Yes, that was the plan. They been at it for a while though.
I went there right from the beginning a few times but to tell you the truth it gets old quickly. It is an improvement that's for sure.

I use to live around there It seemed easy to set up any kind of booth you wanted. But.a nice Tha area where there is anything you want. And another neighborhood that most vloggers ignore. But mot eye candy Wayne!

What times do you go out due to the heat. I wish I could handle it out there.
I actually go out at the hottest part of the day. around midday to 2pm. It doesn't affect me much anymore. You will get use to it over time.

Got me thinking something you said " still no safety barrier" I would say unlike the west there more aware of the dangers and respect the environment unlike the kids in the west wrapped up in cotton wool and are entitled without living any sort of life
