Udon Thani Thailand | A Good Expat Option?
Hi Wayne, may I ask how many different rooms/condos have you lived in since youâve been living in Thailand? Iâm interested to know how many times you have to move so far. Thanks mate.
None, I've lived in the same place ever since I arrived.
The first apartment was a bit boxy but in a quiet area and economical. Most of the time youâre not there so space not so much of an issue. Itâs private too. Nice room for 550 good for short stay . I can get similar in Phuket for 500 without the view. Nice accommodation review. Iâm battling with the areas you mentioned and locating them at the moment. Thanks mate đ
For 6000 baht a month it could be your second home, you don't need much space in your second home, just a place to crash when you spend a weekend visiting.
It would be great for that Dan. I spend most of my time in Chiang Mai though, this is where I live, so only looking for 1 home. It would be a great second for someone though. Cheers mate.
That room at Chanapat Hotel for 550 baht is real value. I remember paying that and even more in Bangkok at the Malaysia hotel well over 25 years ago and its room layout was pretty much the same. The first place didn't quite grab me whilst brand new looking too small. especially the front room. Top video as always Wayne. Cheers mate. đ€©
Not enough room to change your mind, liked the area though
I think rocket travels pad just on the outskirts of Hua hin for 6000 amonth is the ideal Wayne.
Nice , Rocket is a top guy, seen a few vlogs. Lots of deals everywhere, just about finding that perfect one.
That house sucked bro. Too small and clostrophobic.
It would have been better as a studio, for sure mate. Little bit too cramped.
Excellent video ...thank you sir . Welcome to our country ..
Thank you my friend đČđŸ
We stayed 9 month at Crystal place, also just by HD road. Cross the road was the parking to Airport Festival plaza and about 15-20 min walk to the airport. No pool or gym but we really liked it! Hope you find a new nice placeđ
The Landlord wasted a lot of space putting up walls. Should have made the space as a studio and only closed the bathroom.
Yes I agree. Make it a studio for sure .
Wow mate that is lovely Wayne that living space is small but you have a kitchen bedroom itâs a nice place
If it was a bit bigger it would have been great!
Another Bobby Dazzler bruv......I'm living vicariously through you...keep it up Wayne!
Thank you buddy đ
Happy days, enjoy đ
Happy Days mate đ
I live out in Ban Tawai, we bought out house so don't have a rental fee, but I admit I like to be cool at night so I use AC when it's over 25 degrees. Like you we live a simple quiet life but being over 55 I pay less on visas but more on insurance. However our monthly spend is about 20,000 Baht, that's for me and my wife, who is Thai. Nice to see a video of someone who, having lived an everyday working life in the UK, can appreciate the simply life here. Good luck to you.
Yes, that front room was small.. Lots of stray dogs around those areasbig problem around there, packs of 20-30 running about at night. Ive just moved out of that area, on that road you were on brings you out at the hospital. Crazy you went down my old road. Plenty of shops and stuff in that area..Building a big 7/11 down there too. Dont want to sound negative but there are lots of old people in that area stuck in their ways, one of the reasons I moved out of there, weird vibes. I used that motorbike shop a few times, to be fare they made the problem worse. I wouldn't go back to them.
Thatâs good to know, thanks for sharing. I really like that road but good to hear from someone who has live there. I can relate to the bike shops also đ€Ł.
I could live what the living space, just turn the low shelf to the side as extra storage and lean a table against it for work / dining instead. What would do me in is the bathroom; waaayyy too small and no divider. The gym is good value though especially for a 3 month membership, well equipped.
Was looking to come for a month later this year that hotel would be perfect, could just book it before we come job done. Very modern and tidy, thanks for showing it. All the best !
Nice one, a lot of people are liking that hotel. It was a nice room for 550. Very clean and not to far into town. Thanks.
If you put some rubber bands around the phone holder, it won't rattle like that, respected brother â€
Iâve got about 5 hair bands on there already đ. Didnât pull them over.
how much if wanna buy that flat
Iâm not sure itâs for sale, but it would be very cheap.
@@WalkAboutWayne half million ??baht
Maybe a little bit more
Hey Wayne! Nice quiet setting: agree with you that the place should be more "open". A definite flaw in the design/construction that could have been easily avoided. Wish you luck in finding a residence, location most desirable for a person seeking calm and serenity. Good health and safe travels!
Little duplex ok, similar to Sunny Days little mini apartments, but think Sunny days has bigger rooms
Yes, I would say Sunny days is bigger than this place. Older but bigger đ
Found a 2 brm 2wc 120 sqm house you might want to look at in Saraphi.5500 B.Exactly 1 km from Saraphi walking street, road opp the bee school.First white house on the right opp rice field. Faz Waz
Nice, always up for seeing places. Send me the link in IG. Cheers
Instead of doors they should have put in wide entranceways to open the space up. Maybe she would be willing to change it up a bit?
Yeah that could work. I think she wants it rented asap. Itâs probably rented by now.
glad you never took it.Pokey all right.Every man and his dog in the street would be using that pay washing machine ,right outside your window
Yes, a lot of people would be using the washing machines.
Nice and new Wayne but I'd feel very cramped in there. But maybe at that price it would make sense to rent both of those units and get a bit more breathing room and two bedrooms.
It was very tight space, it would have been good as a studio, or like you mentioned, just keep it as one house.
Just move to pattaya you know you loved it
đ€Ł it was definitely eventful in Pattaya, thatâs for sure mate. I will be returning at some point đ
550 I'm in when I go that's fab man quiet to...đ
Good area and nice room for 550 đ
@@WalkAboutWayne oh yea be in there for sure did it have a cooker? Can't remember lol
Great. Tomorrow you reach 20000 subscribers. Be proud on you and your work and goos Karma. Congrats, well done !!!
Doubt it tomorrow buddy and donât want to count my chickens but hopefully weâll get there soon.
Enjoy your journey of life mate chok dee đ
Cheers mate đ
Wayne Iâll buy you a coffee!. Let me know when?.
Happy days mate đ
Hi Wayne, They should have made that a studio room, and it would have been perfectly. Great price in a good location though.
Yes, it would have been better as an open studio for sure mate. Yes, price and location was ideal.
<$200 is amazing. You'd never find anything in the US for that, let alone the cleanliness and quality, or area. This is why Thailand / SEA makes sense for people trying to achieve financial independence.
Yes, itâs still amazingly cheap when you compare it to the west.
That place was really small⊠she split it up trying to make more money⊠Iâm sure you can find a place with a bed bath small living room and small kitchen⊠probably with a pool and gymâŠ. Look at condosâŠitâs worth spending a little More per month to get everything right where you live⊠Iâm searching in the area where I live now..I will take 2 months lookingâŠ. And find a good place for a 1 year lease⊠happy searchesâŠ.. Iâm sure youâll find a great place
It was abit to small. It would have been great if it was just a bit bigger. Looking to get away from condos mate, although I do still look at condos. Cheers buddy, Iâll find my perfect place one day đ. Good luck with your search.
ÂŁ15 a month for the Gym is great! Great selection of machines and weights too! How many times a week would you be using the gym?
That gym was a great find mate, only downside was no aircon. Great place for 700 baht though. I go gym 6 days a week mate. Sunday off.
you're looking well , and good to see you lifting the weights again haha - are you in your 50s ? (if you dont mind me asking)
Closer to 50 then 40 mate. I was about to say I'm not on your level in the gym mate, but then i realized it's AJ in your profile haha.
@@WalkAboutWayne Hahaha that's classic!! keep it up!
great video and tour. Them rooms were too small , it would have been okay if the living room was bigger
Cheers Tony. Yes, I wish the rooms was a little bigger. I loved the style, area, internet and everything else.
Any airport noise there?
I think itâs probably far enough in off the road, but you would hear some of the planes coming in for sure.
Lovely studio and 2 bedroom place!!!
My gf is looking for a monthly let. Any suggestions?
It's to broad to answer mate. So many different areas. All depends on what type of area she wants. I've got a video coming about my recommended area choice for people coming here.
@@WalkAboutWayne thanks Wayne. Iâve sent her your latest video and I think she may well go to Chanapat hotel. She had told me she could only get 6 month lets. Keep your videos coming! Well done!
@Androgen321 Nice mate, that place is a nice Hotel. Good area, might need a scooter though or Grab into town.
@@WalkAboutWayne she has a car!
@Androgen321 oh perfect mate. This place would be ideal đ
tidy duplex Wayne. Generaly "tight is right" but not for living spacesđ
đ€Łđ€Ł. I really wanted to like this place, everything else was perfect. It was a tad tight.
Would have preferred it to be all open plan instead of multiple tiny rooms. btw have you ever been stopped by the police on Lucille?
Yes open plan would have been great. The rooms was so small. Nice newly renovated though and cheap enough. I use to get stopped in the early days but not so much now as they recognize the bike. I'm all legal, so they don't bother.
Jez that was a class looking plant .good video as always
Happy Days mate. Thanks.
nice video!! just curious how much to rent the 155cc moto for a day?
Thanks! I think it was around 300 Baht a day.
Very good advice mate. I've heard some ridiculous costs, were it ends up being more expensive that western countries and you end up thinking. What the point then?
Cheers mate. Yeah some people go way over the top, I've seen vlogs like ÂŁ3000 a month minimum đ€Ł. It's crazy man, makes me laugh. You 100% can still do it cheap.
â@@WalkAboutWayne, it certainly is. 3000 a month is more than the Australian old age pension, that just ridiculous money for Thailand!
All of these guys in Thailand on YT telling you how great it is and how much there is to do, but they're spending most of their time making videos....because there's really not much to do. After to visit the malls, temples, etc. a few times, it gets old. This is the reality these guys on scamtube aren't going to tell you.
Why is it scamtube đ€Ł. Of course it can get boring if you donât find a hobby. Iâve said that on loads of my vlogs. Keep busy and itâs a great life, thatâs why people do CZcams. Thailand isnât a magic wand, itâs normal life, just like anywhere. Loads of CZcamsrs say about that.
Great video great prices. Would you be alout to cook in the small one no sink even but really nice and great value wifi bonus for someone like me who doesn't drink or smoke just looking for warm climate would be superb đ
Thanks! Yes, you can cook outside or even make an area inside. The free strong wifi is a big bonus. Great place for someone.
Was jewellery & gemstones that took me to the Majestic Land of Smiles therefore first dibs on the geM your giving away if I may!â€
You have first dibs on the next gem đ
I live in the western foothills of Chiang Mai (the foothill road from Wat Umong to Wat Pong Noi) and I don't remember seeing any vlogs about the area. It's the new hip place. You should feature it! It's got lots of trees and hipster cafes and artsy places. It's really quite beautiful.
I use to really like going to the Umong hill area, I have a few vlogs on the area a few years back, but I've never done a full walking vlog there. Thanks for reminding me, I might do an update vlog soon. As you mentioned, some great Cafes in that area. I've noted it down for a vlog.
