ABOUT Homesteading with PJ!
Hi! I’m PJ, and my family loves the homesteading life! It’s something my wife and I have always wanted to do, but we grew up with ZERO HOMESTEADING EXPERIENCE!!!!! We grew up in beautiful southern California, 15 minutes away from the beach. As amazing as that was, we both dreamed of a life closer to land and animals. After getting married and moving to Utah, our family slowly grew. We had become a family of four living in a townhome with a small backyard filled with potted plants.
In 2019 we dipped our feet into homesteading on 1 ¼ acre lot in Utah. In 18 months we were ready to do this for real. So in 2021 we packed everything up and moved to North Carolina to 12 acres and we love every inch of our homestead!
We raise sheep and have big plans for:
• grass-fed lamb
• meat chickens
• laying chickens
• heritage breed pork
• honey
• vegetable garden
• perennial food forest
• and more
I hope you join us on our journey, subscribe and ring the bell if you haven’t yet.

I don't endure it. I thrive on it. Lost 46 pounds, got rid of eczema, sleep apnea, pre-diabetes, acid reflux, chronic fatigue and much more. My joints and muscles are healthier, and I am fitter than in my twenties.
Nothing tastes better that your own health.
Well said
Strict keto diet, with selected fibers and greens can be decent, but avoiding long-chained saturated fats is crucial (above 10% calories intake, around 20-25g a day in average) which is one of the most well research relative risk for major civilizational diseases (CVDs, diabetes, cancer), so fatty meat is not good option. Main source of calories should be optimally SCFAs (short chained saturated fatty acids like butyric acid), which is proven on observation for example on lowland gorilla (closest to humans). Those animals derive most of their calories from SCFAs created by fiber fermentation, and that's pretty universal pattern among animals on low carb diet. Even true carnivores don't eat more than 10-15% fat in mass, because there are no such natural fat sources, and wild animals are lean.
How long did it take you to get better?
The best thing about these types of videos is that the comment section is filled with positive testimonials regarding the benefits of the carnivore lifestyle.
Two decades of irritable bowel now resolved.
Your bowels are no longer pissed off….congrats!
Same!!
I only was able to stop using my 2 inhalers when I stopped keto and ate carnivore. My autoimmune symptoms vanished after 6 months.
What was it about Keto that you think didn't work?? The cheese, veggies or treats?
@@Jayla-dj2gj Vegetables. I ate no treats.
nice
im hoping my ibs and hypothyroidism get easier to control.
@@Jayla-dj2gj Me personally, I don't tolerate vegetables, or plants in general, which includes nuts, so treats made from plants don't work for me. I can make carnivore treats with allulose and I tolerate those just fine, although I try to limit them to holidays and special occasions. I also tolerate low carb dairy just fine. I've been carnivore for 2 years and 8 months and any time I reintroduce low carb vegetables or nuts I get a return of symptoms.
@@bastait I don't know if I had ibs or not because my doctors wouldn't run tests to see what was wrong with me. All I know is for a solid decade I had nothing but liquid stools, and that rectified a little over 3 months into carnivore. I also have hypothyroidism and that has improved greatly as well. For the first time since I was diagnosed in 2015 they had to lower my medication, three times, whereas before they only ever raised it. I also have always had the symptoms all these years, even when my levels were normal, but on carnivore I no longer experience symptoms. Before going carnivore I would either be overly cold because of the hypothyroidism, or overly hot because of menopause. Both issues went away. So did my constant exhaustion, my dry, cracked heals, and brittle nails. And those are the more minor things that were eliminated on carnivore.
Carnivore is perfect 🥰 for lazy people. I loathe wasting time in the kitchen. Carnivore saves me so much time in the Kitchen and so much time in the grocery store! More time doing things I ❤.
Great episode 👏
I’m very lazy! It works for me too…I just can’t wait to start losing weight. A month in and NO weight loss.
Lazy person here too. 🙋♀️ Didn’t realise how lazy until I enjoyed not having to cook much.
@@M.SforzaTook me a while too to reduce weight. About 3 months in I finally noticed. We’re all different though. Good luck.
@@M.Sforzaeven so not weight loss. This means your body is healing. Don’t give up. It will happen. Your body does its own time frame. Your body is a wonderous thing. Everything will happen at the right times for you. Your body knows. Main thing is don’t give up.
@@dorsetboronia6744 Thanks for commenting…I won’t.
I've been carnivore going on 3 years. My biggest suggestion for newbies is to give your body time to heal. It took decades to wreck your health, it's going to take awhile to help. It took me a year for all my joint pain to go away. It took 2.5 years for my chronic diarrhea to resolve. It's worth the wait.
How did you know it was helping if it took almost 3 years
@@janelleg597 Nothing else changed. I've eaten the same thing everyday. Ground beef, ground lamb. Initially I couldn't digest the fat. Now I can.
I would say this time period is not typical for benefits to present but you make a good point. Someone eating carnivore expecting to lose 30 lbs in 30 days and then bailing because they don't has sadly missed an opportunity heal. Frequently folks coming to carnivore have more issues than just weight, especially women. Hormones absolutely control the entire organism and cholesterol is the building block to healthy hormones. Relax, eat the fat and give your body time to rebuild your hormones before looking for results. 😃
@@janelleg597 It takes time to heal our organs. They won't suddenly regrow overnight.
Thanks. Needed to hear this. Been on carnivore for about 2 months and joints are really sore, more so than when I started.
Hi. I started carnivore about three weeks ago because of autoimmune problems, and inflammation, especially rheumatoid arthritis. I'm just tried of my body pushing me around.
Prepare to feel like a new person
I hope you are feeling much better after a few weeks in
Im 79 for the last four years I’ve been sick and tired of being sick and tired my back aches continuously and my legs and joints. I’ve had no energy and the joy went out of my life. I have only been on carnivore six days and this morning I woke up feeling differentbetter lighter and I have got more work done around my house in one day and I have done for years and I have not needed a nap or my indigestion mixture. I am hoping this is not a fluke. I am hoping I am the same tomorrow I was so tired of living as I was feeling before.
I suffered for years with extreme exhaustion, severe bloating, pain, stiffness, and I could just barely function at all. I often wished that I would go to bed and not wake up the next morning. I was in my late 40s and the thought of feeling like that for ever another 5 years was unthinkable. I went carnivore 2 years and 8 months ago. Carnivore gave me my life back and very likely saved me from an early death.
Great video! Lion diet is saving my life. It is healing my sick gut, inflammation, oedema, depression and overall health.
i love eating this way
It’s the only way of eating that I haven’t had cravings on, was addicted to diet cokes and carbs my whole life. I was always bloated feeling and gassy, though it was dairy but nope it was carbs and veggies and artificial sugars and processed foods making me feel that way. 3 months in and no more bloated feeling, no more gas, my anxiety and stress have went down considerably, some skin issues are clearing up and I don’t have swelling in my legs anymore…the weight loss has been great but the other health benefits almost out weight the weight loss. My goal is 125lbs of weight loss in a year, I started off low carb before going carnivore 3 months ago but in total im down roughly 85lbs since last July. Back in the gym after years away working had to loose the 125lbs before July to hit my goal. I was 406 at my heaviest and my life was on a downward spiral not only in physical health but my mental health too…was always tired and irritable and wasn’t the person I always had been….wish I would of started eating carnivore sooner it’s been a life saver because I was on the fast track to a heart attack on the SAD.
You eat meat and drink water only?
@@roxayso yes, I do pretty much all meats but definitely eat more beef then anything else. I drink regular water and sparkling mineral water. I also take a multivitamin and an omega 3 krill oil vitamin, not because I have to just out of habit mostly and figure it can’t hurt. I’m doing a 65/35 ratio of fats to protein and around 1800 calories a day and have been doing OMAD for the past 2 weeks. I probably will do omad for a month then go back to 2 meals a day between 10am and 5pm. I’ve just found eating 130-140g of fat a one time is a little hard on the stomach for myself so the 2 meals will work out better for me I think over the long run but will use omad if it hit weight loss stalls and whatnot.
bro i quit soda cause of carnivore i have like one a week.
@@bastait ya sparkling mineral water especially the tropo Chico brand really fills the void of soda for me and I like it just as much.
@@Chewinfat nothing tastes as good as being in shape feels.
In nature we eat meat and some seasonal fruits base on geography.
We eat roots, plants, and seeds, before death due to starvation.
we are facultative carnivores the evidence is all there.
I concur. I think they call us omnis to justify the feeding of processed plants
Every time I hear about someone growing and consuming their own food and STILL finding that they are sick, the argument for plant-based really hits a wall. Of course, we're all different and some folks tolerate and even do well eating plant-based but I think the majority, if we're really honest, do not thrive plant-based long-term.
I didn't know what to expect clicking this video with 'endure' in the title. I'm a carb addict so 'endure' isn't the word I would use for me but for folks, like my husband, who can moderate carbs but still continues on this journey with me, he is enduring carnivore. BUT he is also finding appreciation for the benefits, in fact, he just realized the other day that this is the first year in many that he has not suffered with seasonal allergy symptoms. He was very happy to chuck his allergy meds in the trash! Thanks for the great video!
I cannot eat carbs. If I do I am always hungry. I cannot stand it.
We are all fundamentally the same. I feel like carb addicts say this haha. The only animals that get sick are us and the ones we keep in captivity. All animals have a species specific diet, we are no different.
That's awesome! I'm 76 days in, and I notice my allergies are much better this spring than usual also!
I went carnivore in June. It got rid of diabetes 2, bloody acid reflux, constipation, diahreah, leg muscle pains, and arthritis. Carnivore for life here.
2 months carnivoor lost 8 kilo’s no more blood pressure medication. And my doctor told me I I’m pre diabetic so hope my cells will become sensitive for insulin again ❤ never eating carb again
Been carnivore going on three years now; never felt better. I spend less time in the kitchen and grocery store. I eat twice a day and never, ever get cravings. I have a ton of energy and sleep like a baby. 🇨🇦💝👍
Footage not found, LoL. Thank goodness for that. Herez my comment to help your channel.
Fullness vs. satiety, spot on. I also went carnivore for gut issues. IBS-D. I remember a distended, uncomfortable belly and assuming I was "full". I knew I had no room for more food, but also desired more. Now there's this sense of calm and peace after finishing a meal of meat. The body feels satisfied and my pants still feel comfortable. Not many people on standard diets have every felt this.
Well said, I totally agree.
I have been keto / carnivore for almost a year, today , who knows why I bought a whole cheesecake, family size and ate it all except the crust in one go, then an hour later ate a huge ribeye andbpork rinds, first time I have done this and it was weird, there was no discussion in my head in shop, I saw it and put in my basket, got home and ate it immediately 🎉
😂😂😂😂
I haven’t had a donut in years, and although I’m carnivore with some romaine occasionally, I keep dreaming of sinking my teeth into a huge chocolate donut!
@@M.Sforza It won't taste the same. You'll probably go yuck. I thought the same with with hot chips.
@@anngerschwitz4132 it was really nice 👌
I stupidly bought a pack of Lily's chocolate bars on Amazon about 2 months ago. My favorite holiday flavor! There were 12 bars and they were GONE in less than 12 days. My guts hated me too - I was so miserable every one of those days. I know why I still have cravings. I have not dropped the artificial sweeteners yet. I have gone short periods without and the cravings disappear. I'll get there eventually but for now, no more bulk buying contraband from Amazon!
I feel so much better on carnivore - I'm not going back.
I love this diet, Its actually saving a lot of money because the diet is so energy efficient. I eat so much less and just 2 meals a day
I started as type 5, ended up as type 6. I knew I got depression attacks from time to time, but didn't realize how bad it really was until I was on carnivore. No way am I going back.
Kicking depression is seriously the biggest reason why I stay carnivore.
I eat meat! I forge steel! Ancient existence = peace of mind. Modern day nonsense is just that...nonsense.
Eat meat. Live well.
Forge On!!!
Thanks man. I need to keep being reminded why I should start getting strict with this.
Great video. So much info In a few minutes 🎉❤

I started with beef lamb pork chicken (wings only) eggs & bacon. Now I only do beef lamb & eggs. I do feel better without the other stuff.
Thankyou you and one of Dr Bakers interviews got me going .
I am elderly and need protein .a lot .
And no bloating .thankyou for your no nonsense vidios .very helpful .
Day185. Truly feel the best I have since my Lupus diagnosis 28 years ago. I make mistakes still doing carnivore. Biggest is that I’m not very hungry so I don’t eat enough. I can only eat the actual fat by eating it first thing, while it’s hot. I HATE the squishy texture, so I swallow it without chewing it. I know I’m weird.
I hate to cook and grocery shop… so win win! I’ve lost 46 pounds! I still take a double take when I catch my reflection in the mirror. Sadly, I’m 5’9 and 171 lbs, and still require my cpap, but maybe another 10 will get me off of it. No more fibromyalgia, either. Won’t ever go back to any other way of eating.
I also do not like squishy fat, so what I do is I trim all the squishy fat from my steak and put it in the air fryer to crisp it up. So so good!
@@natasha9263 I’ve heard that before, so I gotta try it. Thanks for the reminder. 😉
I like numbers too but not with Carnivore. No counting for me. 247 days in, oops I counted. 😊
I'm 9 months carnivore and I agree with everything he says.
Look forward to seeing more of your content. 😊😊😊
Thanks! It's slow-going but we're trying to fit in CZcams as we can. I appreciate the support!
@@homesteadingwithPJ Are you part of tuber chat? per say ... interested in exchanging 10 watch hours??
Haven’t had a vegetable or fruit in two years. Only carnivore and have never been healtier than I am now. The same with my wife and son. We are carnivores and will most likely never touch a vegetable again👍🥩🙂
As a 39 year old hard gainer I have lost size on carnivore given the carboHYDRATES are not present to hydrate the muscles giving them bulk
I feel better and have experienced less pain but in my body
Maybe Creatine could help with water retention
Endure??? I'm thriving. Meat heals.
My husband and I have our 1 year anniversary on carnivore in 3 days (5/7/24) and we're both amazed at how much better we feel. We both have/had major health issues which have gotten much better. I've had MS for over 26 years and had bowel and bladder issues, among other things, for the entire time. My bladder issues were gone in 2 weeks! I wasn't expecting it but am thrilled! My fatigue is better too. My neurologist is pretty much stunned at the bladder improvement. I was pre-diabetic and now my A1C is 5.2. I'm close to getting rid of my CPAP machine and hopefully my last high blood pressure medication. I haven't used my inhaler for ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome) since the day I started the diet. I've lost 65 lbs and have lost about 50" overall. I was wearing 3X shirts and 22/24 size pants. I'm now about a 14/16 and a large in most shirts. I can get away with smaller shirts in some cases. My husband was a full blown diabetic who was taking both short and long acting insulin and then he switched to Ozempic. That is a really bad drug, stay away from it! It does bad things to most of your body systems and it's a drug for life. They're ready to make billions off of you and don't care what it does to your body. He had high blood pressure and high cholesterol and chronic migraines for most of his life. He's now pre-diabetic and hopes to be low enough next time to be non-diabetic, he's off all medications except his migraine pill. He's doing so much better with his migraines though that he went from taking 2 to 3 pills per WEEK to taking maybe 2 to 3 pills per MONTH. His weight hasn't changed that much but his clothes are down a whole size and his muscles are getting more pronounced without the serious weight lifting he used to do. His painful knees and finger joints are also much improved. I'm noticing better muscle tone too, especially in my legs. Needless to say, we're never going back! People think we're weird, or crazy, but the proof is so obvious that we're healthier. Our sugar addiction in this country is a serious issue, they put sugar in things that don't even need it to keep you addicted. It's criminal, really. We highly recommend this diet to everyone! Our doctors are all amazed. Good luck to all of our fellow carnivores and those considering making the change!
This is such an amazing testimonial, thank you for sharing! It's stories like these that give this community inspiration and encouragement continually. Seriously, thank you and congratulations on all the progress!
You're welcome! We're thrilled to have this great testimony to share with others and we do so, ALL of the time! Trying to wake people up to the sinister relationship between big ag and big pharma. It's disgusting. Keep up the good work on your channel, I will subscribe!
On carnivore, I’ve lost 85lbs and drastically decreased chronic pain in my feet.
I love that 1/2 way through the video there is an ad for a watering system for your garden.😅
The last carnivore video I watched I got an ad for breakfast cereal 😞
I'm pretty sure ads are determined by CZcams to suit your interests. I love to garden too! My son has been especially enjoying picking strawberries pretty much everyday now. And we have a watering system that takes care of that chore for him (he's 4 😂).
@@homesteadingwithPJ It is a video about carnivore diet ......MEAT,.....not vegetables. I wouldn't be interested in vegetable gardening watering systems if I'm watching a carnivore video. Just saying....
Wait.....I guess you missed the sarcasm in my initial post.
I am doing keto now. but mostly carnivore. Easier to move to keto with some green keto friendly veggies and nuts than just eating only meat.
I started the LionDIET 12 days ago this time with no salt…finally lost 15lbs LOVE THE MEAT 🥩
What resources did you learn from to cook a good steak?
What? I've never seen industrial food made to look like broccoli or lettuce. All I've ever seen is plant fibers masquerading as meat. But you say ppl prefer veggies? Show me a child that prefers plant food.
I have graves and hashimotos so it would be interesting to look into how diet impacts thyroid related autoimmune diseases.
As for hemorrhoids, sorry if tmi but you took it there first with your video 😂 while pregnant this time, I had to take iron supplements. I have NEVER in my life had hemorrhoids until I took those iron pills. You know what's even worse than hemorrhoids? Being allergic to preparation H 😂😂😂 I did increase my red meat intake as well as green, leafy veggies and that helped a lot. Still on iron supplements but no preparation H needed!

I was like 808 my favorite number *8 lol
Dude, what is your company?
I started carnivore because I was at the end of my rope with catastrophic spinal injury and the pain was unbearable every second of every day. Torture. It has improved my life in that regard and healed many other issues. Fact… we’ve been lied to and we are systematically being poisoned by our own healthcare system and government to keep big food and pharma Rich.
I ate giant slabs of meat in my 20s and 30s with a little vegetables. Gradually I have been going to a mostly vegetable with meat once in a while. Works for me.
I love it when people do what works for them. The n of 1 test is the most important! Cheers.
Took care of my microbial colitis.
100% keto has helped with my IBS-C, but I don't find it satiating. AT ALL. I literally just ate 1 lb of sirloin, a small bag of shrimp, and 4 brats in one sitting (~1600 calories). That was over half my caloric intake for the day, and I WAS HUNGRY TWO HOURS LATER. Guys, what am I doing wrong?
You aren’t eating enough fat. Get some beef trim and cook it in an air fryer - or, eat butter til you feel satiated.
You're not in nutritional ketosis.
@@PalinaZ hey thanks for the reply. I definitely was in ketosis as I checked my ketones with a blood meter on the daily. Usually 1-1.6 or more.
@@anyajohnson4471 I'll have to give this a try, but I find satiation to mean different things to everyone. Unfortunately I don't feel satiated until my stomach is mechanically stretched by the food, and a lot of fats melt and become liquid when cooked. Liquids aren't great at making me feel satiated.
endure? best diet for health
Is it possible that carnivore can cause some of these issues? My mental health seems worse and gut issues. I'm a few weeks in.
You might need more fat or if you eat butter and cheese - remove them.
It takes some time to adjust, to find what works for your body, take it one day at a time, progress can be slow sometimes, I'm 4 months in and still working on better health.
Three months of actual carnivore is a fair trial period. Three weeks is too soon to see change. Some change two weeks in, others take two years!
That’s why influencers suggest to try Carnivore for 30 days, then maybe 60, then 90. Some things take time. It’s worth it. Good luck.
You could still be oxalate dumping. Remember to take electrolytes and plenty of water. Don't gulp down water take sips throughout the day. Take time to eat your main meal of the day. Sit at a table, chew well. Give carnivore at least 4 months.
The claim that the carnivore diet lowers inflammation is very interesting. Perhaps the people eating this way can include inflammatory markers like C Reactive Protein ( CRP ) in their blood work and then publish their results.
Check out Dr Ken Berry and his group. They get tests and post their numbers
Meat is not inflammatory. If you can prove otherwise, do it.
Hello there. I would like to see some CRP and ESR blood test results from Carnivore dieters because that would be proof that meat is not inflammatory. @@Miraak1868

Well, watching them melt away within 48 hours felt so good, and yes, I used what I mentioned the other day. It actually took a bit more to make them totally disappear, I just go’ogled Melissa Thanderski and the pain unexpectedly disappeared so quickly.
The Carnivore movement seems to be huge in America. Probably thanks to your famous CZcamsrs. Not really taking off here in Britain, with one or 2 high profile proponents. I don’t think it suits our generally moderate national mentality. I think we tend to stick to meat, spuds and a bit of veg…when we’re TRYING to be healthy!

A diet high in saturated fats, trans fats, refined carbohydrates, and processed foods can contribute to endothelial inflammation. Conversely, a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats (e.g., omega-3 fatty acids) can have anti-inflammatory effects and support endothelial health.
Treating digestive issues with carnivore diet is like talking painkiller to treat headache. This is symptomatic approach. Not only it doesn't address core of the problem, but will further weaken your gut microbiome, which is nearly universal link between all digestive issues. It's like saying: When I lift weight my muscles hurt so I'll avoid lifting weights whole life.
