anyone who's looking to play at the D3 level the college could still give you a hefty academic scholarship even if your grades aren't great.

If a coach really wants you to be a part of the team, he'll talk to who ever gives out scholarships and request that you'd get one. My sister plays basketball at the D3 level and got a huge academic scholarship (due to good grades and the coach wanting her to play). And the team I'm a part of gives many scholarships to the team

Good overview. Something I learned the hard way in my recruiting days: On the subject of "events", this can often times overlap with "teams". The best opportunities to get in front of coaches and to premier events (for most players out there) is to seek out getting on the most competitive teams you can. Being around other talented players forces you to up your game and grow, and being on successful teams gets you into and further through top tournaments where coaches are watching.

    Thanks for the info Paul.
Could you please let me know the process for foreign students? We live in Australia. My son is 12 years old and has dreams of playing lacrosse in a US college team so he is a few years off yet. Here in Australia, there is no university sports scholarships. If you want to get good at any sport here, you need to play for a community club. My son currently plays for a local team here in Victoria and is getting very good. His academic abilities are excellent.
How should we prepare and approach this for the future?
Any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

You didn't figure into your math that a number of the best/most desirable Division 1 lax schools don't offer athletic scholarships at all -- defending national champs Yale and the rest of the Ivies, for example. You can get a boost towards admission, but no scholarship. The service academies are free (actually they pay you) so no need for scholarships, but you're also signing up for a way of life for roughly the next decade.

Thank you to Paul and the crew!! This video was very helpful in answering questions I had about playing in college!
But I do have a question that wasn't answered:
What about lacrosse players who weren't good enough to be recruited directly out of highschool? Do we have any realistic chance of playing college lacrosse?
I'm curious because I'm currently taking a gap year or two to improve my skills and earn enough money to pay for college.
Obviously you guys don't know me, but I just thought I'd put this out there and see if I could get some answers.

My team got a goalie transfer from UMBC, and a lot of incoming and current players had offers to play at various NCAA schools, several even to division 1 schools like furman, Fairfield, and Mercer. We recruit all around the south and are always looking for guys, as you saw in the ESPN Crossroads film we have a great diversity in our team by signing guys from Charlotte Seconday and other areas. NAIA is so hidden but has some diamond in the rough, last season our Sophomore attack-man was top scorer all conference, and Brandon who was feature in Crossroads was 2nd team all conference. We play MCLA and NCAA D2-D3 schools in our out of conference games. Check us out!!!!!!

I've always loved lacrosse and would love to be able to play on a college team no matter what level, there's always club teams and adult leagues if its too late for me. I would love any info or advice for my situation, essentially is it too late? How would I go about pursing college lacrosse at this point after highschool? Who do I talk to? Really love lacrosse and regret not pursing it right after highschool but I'm still young and have years of college ahead of me and a love for the sport. Thank you anybody who can help me out!! (Aside from the stuff to get recruited in general more specifically for someone in my position who isn't straight out of highschool and hasn't been on a team in awhile).
