Kon has never looked better! Glad to see both back together again. Prayers to Roy Bixby and his family and hoping for a fast recovery from his stroke and for him to Get Well Soon. Miss his banter and jokes. Prayers to his wife also. Cheers!
This lens has brutally fast and accurate focusing, I absolutely love it.
I have the plena and the 85 and I have a hard time choosing between the two. The 85 is wonderful in tighter places but the 135 just out-resolves everything and is SO consistent that it’s hard to pass up
Agree very much….135 rocks
Have and love the Z 50 f/1.2, Z 85 f/1.2 and Z 135 f/1.8 lenses. Waiting for the Z 35 f/1.2 (last roadmap lens) and a future 24mm/28mm f/1.2 lens.
Missed you guys 🥰 I really love this lens and concur, it’s incredibly fast 😀
I got the 85 1.2 a couple of weeks ago and it's just stunning how it makes photos look .
Having splashed out on both the 50mm F1.2 - proving to be superb and a dream in low light. And the Plena - just arrived and hopeful of some decent images. The 85mm f1.2 is sort of covered for me, especially with cropping in the Z8. No doubt an outstanding lens, my camera bag is more than full !
135 mm is fun but not as practical shooting subjects like Models and indoor its even less practical unless you're in a huge room. but the 50 1.2 can serve you more in almost any situation.
@@michaelmalodrums9674 Yes, agree, I don't see the Plena as a portrait lens - I have other aims for that, not least low light, and supporting my 70-200 f2.8 type shots
@@Nick-13I have the z mount 70-200 2.8 and it’s amazing at most focal ranges and I love the look it gives over 100 mm to 200 !
Hello both, I do think that Nikon development team, with this 85mm f1.2 have just had one of those days when everything just went right. It is one amazing lense.
I have the 85mm f1.2. I used it for sports this weekend. The focusing was fantastic keeping up with the Z 70-200mm f2.8, but the lens really came into its own with portrait shots. I took some time to decide on spending all that money rather than the F mount 85mm or 105mm f1.4, but I'm glad I did go for the Z mount now.
Great to see both of you back again and out and about in the fields with such a truly spectacular lens, Becky and Kon! What a great combination of dreamy bokeh and razorsharp pop that 85 f1.2 has, just wow! Wonderful rendering also for landscape and animal shots, giving a MF or even LF rendering! And Becky's blue Zf, what a beautiful colour for this beautiful camera, stunning! I hope to see more of that blue Nikon, Becky! 🥰
great to see you back. I love your content.
The zf looks beautiful in that color .
Love the calm vibe of this video. Great to see you too working together in the field.
Sorry to hear Roy suffered a stroke and best of luck as a family member had a stroke a few years ago and it's tough 😞
GrI at to see both of you again!! Btw will you be doing a field review on the Nikon 50 1.2 S also?
I went Plena and 85 1.5 Z.
Saw a blue Zf in the flesh, for the first time at the Photo show and it does work. Get the 1.2 Kon and do some curls for the extra weight 😉. It is very lardy, but sometimes feels like you have a cheat code.
Loving my 85 f/1.2 but it looks pretty big next to my Plena.
I've been considering it for a while just wanted to make sure I wanted to pull the trigger on this but I finally did and it'll be here in a couple days im excited
It's my next lens to purchase, then the 135 I think. BTW has spring arrived there yet? Just been out taking Spring pics here, so I think this should be your next challenge :)
Well done both, Looks interesting, so now is it this or the Pleana for me !!
Liking Becky’s blue Zf - almost regret getting the black one…
Oooh nice blue ZF. 85mm f1.2 not bad either 😀
Would have been nice to compare to the F 85 1,4 and Z F 85 1.8. This thing is so expensive, would have been nice to see if it warrants the price.
I find this lens interesting, but I probably won't purchase it. I currently have a few Nikon Z lenses and for portrait work, I would probably use my Nikon Z 24-120mm f4 or the Nikon Z 105mm f2.8 Macro lens (just take a few steps backwards to resemble the 85mm f1.2). Prior to switching to mirrorless, I did love my Sigma 85mm f1.4 Art lens for its rendering, but portrait work isn't my main use case, so it makes sense to use the other lenses.
Closeups are fine, but I think the main purpose of this lens is a whole body shot on f/1.2 as it has enormous sharpness and practically no image flaws.
Currently using the 85mm 1.4g- ftz for Zf myself. It's a great combo and moderately fast autofocus even. But I long for the day I can afford this 85mm to upgrade.
Informative content
If and when I have the budget this is likely my next lens. Did you see Christopher Robin or Pooh?
Hello Becky can you elaborate further on your comment about the 85mm at 1.2 only getting Kon’s eyelashes in focus?
Had 85 1.4 and no where near as sharp at wide open as the 1.2
Were you recording with the Rode Wireless II on the DJI Pocket 3? I didn't know that a wireless mic other than the DJI could be used with it?
sorry but à 1:48 : Only eyelashes are in focus ? So the Eye AF is not as good as Sony or Canon ? Even On ZF ? Because, this lens has been made for portraits. And if you have to close to F/2.8, you rather buy a 85mm f/1.8 no ? You save 2000€. I've ordered a ZF, but I'm not sure now...
Guys, I am torn between 85 1.2 and 135 1.8. I have 85 1.8. What is your advice ? 🙏🏻
Very much a ymmv. Without knowing exactly what you shoot and under which conditions, it's very hard to give good advice. I have both and they're really great lenses. If the plena had been available when I got the 85, I probably would have gone for the 85 f/1.8S instead to go along with the Plena. The 85 f/1.2 doesn't quite produce the same magical results as the Plena, but it's still a fantastic and slightly more practical lens.
@@madst7521 thanks, my dilemma is whether it's worth buying both lenses, given that I already have the 85 1.8 🙏🏻
Hers is bitter than your in thumbnail😅
'bit disappointed by your review: I was hoping for more pictures to show the rendering of out of focus fore- and background
I wish Sigma would release their f/1.4s in Nikon Z mount - this is too big and too expensive, and it's no better than the Sigma (in other mounts)
The Nikon 1.2 is better but it’s not night and day - the sigmas dslr version is actually their best version but it’s also huge. It would be nice to have some compact inexpensive 1.4s.
