    I'm an 8yr Homeschool veteran and boy did I need this message today. It really is a lot of pressure to be responsible for someone's education. It's so easy to get emotional and panicky about things that aren't going well. Thank you again for another great video. I love how much your content has evolved and grown the last five years ❤️

    I agree 100%. Since we started gameschooling, learning is fun. My son (11) is so engaged now and the conversations are the best.

    This video has been so important for me to hear! You’re saying all the things I’ve been thinking recently. My eldest is 3 so we haven’t even started our homeschool journey. I’ve already decided that the only curriculum we will buy is beast academy math. And that is for my gifted 3 year old who loves math more than anything. The rest will be accomplished through the culture of learning we’ve already been building in our home. Thanks so much for the great video! ❤️

    I wish I had known that home educating is more about developing your relationships as family members and once that is the focus everything goes more smoothly.

    I also wish I had known it didn’t have to be hard. And to really look at the learner in front of me, letting go of expectations has been the toughest thing for me, but this video really encouraged me to keep on that path to keep on letting go of expectations and see what’s working for us.

    There is still a lot of things I don't know about homeschooling.. I am trying to keep up with my lil learner as he is already bored and maybe I'm not doing enough.. idk but I am finding that unit studies are a big way to keep me (momma with ADHD and OCD) on a good path to keep my lil engaged and for him to anticipate a little to what he will be doing the next day. He loves responsibility and leadership. Thank you for sharing about your journey..

    I wish I would have known that my kiddo wasn't going to follow the plan for grade levels. Every time I put in the work and find a new curriculum for the next level he ends up already ahead of it before it arrives and I'm back to square one!!!

    I needed to hear this! Thank you! I feel guilty taking breaks even if I feel like I need one. Or feel like I’m not doing enough because we aren’t doing ALL of the things. It’s so easy to compare yourself to others! But the biggest piece I am taking from this, is that, just because it’s easy doesn’t mean it isn’t working.
    Fostering that love for learning is so important and easy to lose sight of when we are so focused on “he’s five he should be reading soon”.

    The last part about if its to easy , I am not doing enough. I so feel that! It was nice to hear it doesn't have to be hard! After becoming a homeschool mom having had public school under our belt for 8 yrs... WOW! Eye opening. Changed so many things I realized I don;t feel my kids need to do! Like homework for an hour after being in school all day. no homework here! Hard though having a retired teacher of public school as your mom. Love her. but thats a tough one. :)

    These are all so great! The easy doesn't count is sooooo a trap i fall into. We are also a 'watch a documentary at night' family. We just finished 5 or 6 mo on alllllll things dinosaurs. Jurassic Park (all the movies, the Camp Cretaceous show) which morphed in to watching several prehistory documentaries, reading books and doing dig kits, trips to natural history museums and dinosaur Provincial Park then more documentaries. If I had planned a dino unit only it would have lasted a few weeks then everyone would be ready to move on. Those family documentary nights are a huge part of our learning even though it doesn't feel like school. Audiobooks are our standard now, it is easier...and it gets done! Where is i read aloud we can't do it during lunch and it gets put off. I think my biggest turning point after 10 years is realizing that the best curriculum or approach is the one that gets done. It may not be my ideal or perfect approach, but if it gets done consistently it is the BEST curriculum for us. It may be a workbook that quickly teaches a concept instead of a literature and hands on based (which i prefer), but usually that lit and hands on based gets left on the shelf. As my kids get older, the middle schoolers want to get it done and move on😂 so, to the point workbooks get the lesson done then we can play games or they can spend their time on interests (coding for one, instrument practice for the other 2).

    Hold on a sec, where’s the rest of you?? Lol You look fantastic! Good job - you must feel so good! I haven’t tuned in for a little bit, but I watched A LOT when I was getting going. You really look great, and I wanted to take a sec to tell you so! 🎉

    I put off Science experiments too. I don't like the messes and I simply don't understand how to do some of them. They are confusing to me.

    I'm curious how you'll homeschool in high school without an emphasis on curriculum and produce a transcript. We're a year behind you. We incorporate hands-on learning but I also use independent curriculum. I don't see how to get around that if my son wants to go to college.

    • @mamabee2151
      @mamabee2151 Před 9 měsíci

      You are the school therefore you make the transcript and the diploma.
