    This was my first serious amp from 97-2004 and I stupidly sold it because “I needed a tube amp.” This amp was amazing.

    • @agusg.t.8950
      @agusg.t.8950 Před 6 měsíci +2

      It had a tube in the preamp indeed. I did the same, my first real amp, and I sold it for an ac30 in the 90s. Still miss it bit still use this ac30

      Tube amps have their place, but so does a good solid state unit...the valvestates and the lead series that preceeded them were just very usable amps

    • @TheMasonator777
      @TheMasonator777 Před 6 měsíci

      I did the same with my “mine from new” mint cond. Marshall Lead 100 Mosfet. Traded it for a silverface Twin… Been kicking myself for 30 years.

    • @jasondorsey7110
      @jasondorsey7110 Před 6 měsíci

      @@TheMasonator777 I did something similar, I had an original 6v6-powered ampeg reverberocket and traded it for a '71 super bassman, that ampeg was the best sounding combo I've ever played through but it was the 90s and I needed more power :/

    Hi Dave Simpson, thanks for uploading this video, I just got a Valvestate 8080 Combo, a really early one from May 1991, which has the exact same circuit as the 8100 head. I love it and agree it's a very versatile amp with a huge range of tones. Would you believe I only paid £40 for it and it's near mint now that I've cleaned it up. Love your playing, always, but that intro in this video is special!

    It is my 50th birthday come next week, and my family got me a Boss Katana Air used off of Reverb for $250 plus $15 shipping. That was such a good deal, and I don't play or perform in front of people, and have zero desire to do so, so a practice amp is what I need now. I have a Mesa/Boogie Blue Angel amp that needs to be repaired, and a Crate GFX-1200H with a 4x12 loaded with Fender/Eminice Special Design speakers, that give me the vintage tone I am looking for and wanting. The Marshall MG series or any of the Marshall Solid States or Hybrid amps are still on my wishlist, just because I am a HUGE Jimi Hendrix fan, and that is the amp he is known for playing. I know he played other amps, and a Fender Twin Reverb and a Bassman are also on my list of amps to get, but I really don't want a tube/valve amp, Solid State and Digital Modeling is the way to go, also amp sims on your computer are awesome with some Ownhammer IR's.

    Melodic like it should be . It's nice to see a Guitarist who we know can Shred , but can also use their head to play what the Song is asking for .

    Not a one trick pony at all. Loved the P90 section and really enjoyed the surf too. Your metal playing is better than some but I think that genre just isn't your bag really. Loved this video. Ergonomic note: I like the way the control panel is angled back from the vertical - makes sense to me. Thanks, Dave, really enjoyed this one - inspirational playing of guitar.

    This section particularly spoke to me. Beautiful and so heartfelt . It's really cool to hear pitch shifting on a slower melody.
    Your guitar tone is killer ! That's one of the finest tones I've heard in a while. Questions.. did you use a lot of effects? Oh thank you for showing us which effects you're using and for explaining things ! 😊 I always like learning more about gear ! Rock on 🤘

    Very Cool Dave Thankyou. Such an awesome amp. I have a Marshall MG15MSII mini-stack with "Emulated Line-Out" and "Emulated Headphones". I find both of these are excellent for going out to my Monitors and for Recording. My Fender amps and Peavey Rage 158 Play well to Monitors and Record well just using The Headphones out. I have been pleasantly surprised. All the Best. Cheers

  • @wootks
    @wootks Před 6 měsíci +1

    Lead 12, Lead 100 mosfet and the 8100 are the best solid state amps Marshall ever made. They really need to re-release the 8100. It punches way above it's weight.

  • @banditfishing1558
    @banditfishing1558 Před 6 měsíci

    I’ve got one and love it. Was my first amp head I bought last year for £75. It does start to pop and crackle every now and then so it probably needs looking at however other than that I can’t fault it. I have it plugged into an MG412A cab which is 8 ohm so really I should get a 4 ohm cab or another 8 ohm to balance things out but in my parents eyes it’s too loud as is. It works really well blended with my Evh 5150 iconic half stack using my ABY box. The tones match so well weather I set them up for blues or metal

    Everything sounded good but the ES 335 was not quite as good as the other guitars 🎸. The Epiphone LP Burst sounded best. You should play it more. BTW what cab were you using? Have you ever played a Bad Cat Black Cat amp? It’s my dream 💭 amp and kind of pricey 💵 for me.
    Still saving for the Boss Katana MK II Artist small stack thanks to your demo 🎸🎵🥰.
