Its funny how people get angry when Starkiller slightly redirects a falling star destroyer, yet they are fine with Darth Nihilus eating planets.
protag v villian i guess? idk
The context behind each is what matters. The short of it is that for all his power Nihilus is pathetic. And that's why he works and Starkiller doesn't. There are many other reasons I could give but this is the main one.
I just figure Galen was a bit of a freak of nature with ludicrous aptitude for some force applications.
@@thomasjoychild4962 I've always seen him as a force equivalent to a storm, but he cant tone down his power. He's really good on physical force powers, but weaker on spiritual force powers. I cant ever see him become a force ghost because of this.
I mean ....... he WAS hungry
Vader successfully failing to gaslight a teenager and starting the rebellion in the process is really funny when you think about it
He failed the speech check which is really funny when you consider how much of a smooth talker Ani was compared to the intimidating menace that Vader IS
Vader is a slave to destiny he can't change the future padme will always die and he will always bring balance to the force regardless of how he goes about it
To be fair, it's hard to successfully coerce someone who is just as strong in the force as you are
It's honestly not even that far-fetched. In Revenge of the Sith, some of the deleted scenes are still treated as canon to the stories that came later. The relevant one is where a young Mon Mothma talks with Padme and Bail about organizing a movement against Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, and if the need arises, organizing a militarized rebellion cell to combat his takeover of the galaxy. Ultimately, they do nothing right away, but in time, they started doing their own things as a disjointed allegiance of insurrectionist groups before forming under a unified banner as the Alliance to Restore the Republic. In The Force Unleashed, that banner just happened to be the Marek family crest.
The "I lied line" always makes me kackle.
*cackle
I guess Vader took a page out of Obi-Wan's book and trolled the shit out of this dude. XD
Has the same energy as "my source is I made it tf up"
I love robots mimic peoples personalities and body language it's cute
ngl i played this game as a kid so many times and even recently, never noticed proxy did that, might have but it didn't register, it is a cool touch with him
I had this Game on the Wii, and, well, i acknowledge that Version lacks Content, but man, taking down that Star Destroyer with my Hands instead of Controller Buttons was the coolest thing ever happening to Star Wars Games
Yoda and Kota said sizes doesn’t matter on that I agree.
This and pirates of the carribean on the wii were the pinnacle of gaming
Wym I can actually swordfight and lightsaber fight like I always dreamed
Ditto
Wdym? The wii version was better it had multiplayer mode were you can fight your friends
@@oscarrazo5715 Did not know, and would not have cared had i known, as i had no Friends, so a rather useless component for me. And i am pretty sure the Video showed Levels that where not on the Wii Version, which i was refering to
Dude. Force Unleashed is unironically one of my favorite games ever, just on shear fun and nostalgia alone.
I actually had the Sith Edition for ps3 and I think my collector card was the crazy dude from the second level.
My favorite bit sbout the Star Destroyer discourse is how it's indirectly addressed all the way back in Empire Strikes Back:
"Master Yoda rocks are one thing but this... it's totally different!"
"NO! No different! Only different in your mind"
"Judge me but my size, do you?"
Yoda isn't exactly the wisest or most reliable source, though...
@@TerribleTom113 yoda is very much “the girlies that get it get it, and the girlies that don’t don’t”
people made fun of Sam Witwer's performance in this but hes the only reason the animated shows are good. also he gives the most realistic voice work ive ever seen in games.
Guy's a massive asset to SW creators and has been for ages.
He isn't the only reason animated shows are good. Don't be ridiculous.
@@martinsriber7760 Other than his amazing voice work, Sam has influence in the actual writing.
@@supergoodadvice853 I know.
Relax, he aint the ONLY reason
“Without me, you’ll never be free.”
I love that line, and that Vader briefly hesitates there.
The whole story of this game is Vader’s ultimate opportunity to save himself from this man, who has him on a leash as a slave. But each time the opportunity is so possible, Vader’s own fear of change stops him and makes him backtrack. Making up lies, that he planned to betray the boy from the beginning, which he knows deep down is not true. Which is tragic.
I like how PROXY seems like just a more cheery version of HK-47 from the KOTOR games. Also, if I had a nickel every time a piece of Star Wars media had a wise and somewhat cranky blind master character, I'd now have three nickels.
which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened three times.
@@RomrojalI think it's weird that it's happened ONLY three times by now.
My favourite thing about Star Wars is probably the concept of the clone army and how they unwillingly helped to pave the way for Palpatine's triumph, extensively explored in The Clone Wars. To this day Order 66 is one of my favourite events in fiction. I love to see when the whole war angle of Star Wars gets properly explored in dark, devastatingly depressing details.
Also KOTOR in it's clunky entirety, for I am, unfortunately for me, a Bioware fan.
Anything to do with Order 66 *kills me* every time, that section in Fallen Order had me sobbing b/c the clones were just joking around with him like big brothers not two minutes ago! 😭😭
@@khanlusa I remember audibly gasping and muttering "Oh no" under my breath the second realization of what's about to unfold hit. Absolutely harrowing segment that got me very emotional.
And the added context of the behavioral chips from the Clone Wars show just doubles the hell down on pure tragedy of it all, my god.
I actually loathe the changes made to make it an unwilling pavement. I think I hate it even more than what was done to Luke in TLJ. I think the behavior chips completely destroy the tragedy, because a narrative tragedy requires it to be a result of the failed journey of the victims of the tragedy. Not only that, but it tears out so much of the potency.
It was much, much more impactful when it was a conscious choice. A decision made to obey that which they were trained to do, which they believed in above all else. If you think it unrealistic, consider Korean Air Flight 801 where flight staff knew they were almost certainly going to crash into the ground but in Korean culture you don't criticize or ever directly challenge your superiors so at most they would say things along the lines of "gee it sure is cloudy" then crashed killing 229 people.
It's a far more poignant commentary, tragedy, & betrayal when it's a choice, it's far more sad of the fate of the clones when it is a choice, because the clones value loyalty to the Republic above all else & to them it is the Jedi who betrayed them. It is the Jedi who turned on the Republic to them, & so they doom themselves in their blind devotion. It has so much more meat to it.
@@pubcle The difference I would say is this isn't just a career or a job or just friends, this is *war*, people you've fought and bled beside. It makes no sense after years of struggle and shared hardship and creating bonds forged in the fires of galactic war that almost every clone would just obey the order of someone they've probably never even seen in person while still in the middle of said galactic war (droids weren't shut down at the time for most of them) to murder not just their commanders, but their comrades in arms who held with them through thick and thin because it was just in the rulebook.
I've read that Starkiller was supposed to be Vader's name in the original script for A New Hope, naming the apprentice after him isn't unlike naming the lad "Vader Jr.".
I think that's touched on in the novelisation where the boy intuites or outright says that Vader took him bc he wanted a son (you know, after being led to believe he killed his own children with padme)
And I kid you not, George Lucas once wanted Starkiller to be called “Darth Icky”. Let that sink in
It was actually supposed to be Luke's name in the original scripts. Galen is supposed to be a photo negative of Luke/a what if version of Luke if he'd been raised by Vader so Lucas suggested Starkiller be his nickname.
@@starmancrusader As a joke, lol.
One thing about the star destroyer scene is that in the DS version of the Force Unleashed (Because this game was released when companies were making radically different versions of the same game for every different console) the star destroyer was actually just falling from orbit and Starkiller was simply redirecting so it wouldn't crash on top of him. If my memory serves anyway.
Yep, they also go with that explanation in the novelization of the game.
Yeah thats how its in the ds version I played that dozens of times
@@rhymenoceros3303 It has active engines in the novelization and the DS version has the ISD being damaged but doesn't specify whether or not it had functional engines.
Having only played the Wii and DS versions (both very different from each other), this walk through of the story felt like some Mandela Effect version lol
@@parkermm😂😂
This story was actually well written and I love the idea of the rebellion being accidentally created by Vader. It adds to the full circle of the chosen one and bringing balance to the force.
Starkiller > Ahsoka Tano
Ill take the heat idgaf
@@trequor that take is about as hot as Hoth.
My favourite thing about star wars is getting to 'debate' with my very nerdy housemate by gaslighting them that Anakins fall was Yoda's fault. She gets so flustered by it, its honestly funny
honestly with the way the movies are i believe it was more the yoda's and windo's fault than palpatine. like bro's mom dead and ya told him to just let his wife die as well. he aint got anyone left.
@@Kris-wo4pj Him turning to the dark side is for sure Palps' fault. But his loss of faith in the order is for sure the fault of Yoda and Windu and to a lesser extent Obi-wan
Is it really gaslighting if it's (partially) true, though-
@@schmi2897 The only reason Palpatine could turn him as easily as he did is because of the Jedi themselves. If they had made some concessions then they would have been able to stop it from happening. Or if Padme was married by the time of Attack of the Clones as that would have taken away the main motivation.
@@irystocrattakodachithatmooms If Palpatine hadn't been there Anakin might have just left the order outright and just fuck off to support his wife and do whatever else and the galaxy might be much better for it.
Of course the Jedi failed him I never argued otherwise. But it was only because Palpatine was there that he was able groomed into the dark side.
WHAT ARE YOU, CATHOLIC!? Perfection. I could have sworn the star destroyer was already falling out of the sky and Starkiller was just redirecting it. . . huh.
I think that was in the Wii version from what I've been told.
@@khanlusa Yeah, that's nuts cause I've never owned a WII, I played this on xbox, and I played it to absolute death xD But it's also been a decade since I last looked at it. Cultural osmosis really be something. Damn I love Starkiller.
@@khanlusa Engines are active in the Wii version as well. It's just a popular myth that people butthurt about Starkiller's power level spread around for years.
@@khanlusaweather it's falling or. Or ripping one of those things out of the sky and living MAJOR bragging rights and free drinks for life kinda rep
I think in the novelization the ISD was already falling
When Vader is throwing Galen around the room his breathing gets quicker (I don't exactly what this means, is he panicking or feeling guilty over hurting Starkiller)
He’s crippled and starkiller is making him actually feel tired unlike other Jedi, in the second game he gets Vader to wheeze while fighting like Luke did when they fought
My favorite thing about Star Wars is the mental fortitude of Jacen and Jaina. Those two kids should’ve been gibbering masses of neuroses by the time they hit puberty, considering how many times they were attempted to be assassinated or were actually kidnapped.
Shak Ti’s VA also voiced Wonder Woman in the Justice League animated shows, and Injustice games.
Just discovered your channel with the Crisis 1 vid, and you're really fucking funny! Love your scripts! "Darth Vader promptly redacted Dad Jedi from the Kashyyyk census." Made me cackle.
Wow. That tequila/bag of speed/Force Unleashed, donuts/morning after/Fallen Order thing you said.....that may be the best metaphor I've ever heard in my life, wholesale. Plus bonus points for being so apt.
I remember picking this game up as a kid, i played it again a short while back, man i sucked at games back then.
The creator probably won’t see this but if you do, PLEASE keep doing what you’re doing, I’ve been binging your channel the past week and I love the breakdowns you give and the content warnings are SO appreciated, love the content ❤❤
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
The Star Destroyer bit makes much more sense in the novel. There the ship is actually just falling, and Starkiller just nudges it with the force to change it's course.
The game, imo, did not really show something different
This is what happens in the game
May the 4th be with you!
Was this a lore exception? Yes. Did it still love and respect the setting? YES! Was it better than ANYTHING spewed out by the Evil Fucking Rat?! YEEEESSS!!!!!
The Disney brown-nosers are such great a hypocrites when they bash starkiller while they support Rey. The Mary Sue goddess proves that she is better everything than everyone and is even able to single-handedly prove that you can strike someone down in anger and still not submit to the dark side. 🙄
I remember the force unleashed game, and I do think that it was a good Star Wars story. I especially like how the story of Galen Marek tied to the formation of the rebel alliance against the empire.
In all fairness to the Jedi trope of "you'll be just like him" the Sith literally have a power to posess you and sieze control of your body, as a counterpart to force ghosting, even tho they can also kinda do that, in Legends continuity.
Jedi: Fallen Order is to an estabilished poly relationship what The Force Unleashed is to a fucking orgy, and I love it.
Sam Witwer is one of the best western voice actors in existence. Someone who's largely realized animation breaks the limits of live action. He'd be a star in Japan, too.
I never noticed Proxy's mimicking Juno and Starkiller before. Great observation. I love this game, especially the Wii version. The additional levels are not only fun (Mandalorians on Basalik War Droids!!!) but on replays they tickle that long-time Star Wars fan in me since they're stand-ins for the three trials to become a Jedi: Skill, Flesh, and Insight. It goes to show that the Force finds a way to help make things right.
Another under-appreciated video game from my favorite under-appreciated youtuber!
The first 2 minutes in and I already fully agree with all that's been said, and I'm laughing my ass off for the mental picture the you painted😂
Your videos are always a blast and the first moments already prove exactly why
MGRR, MGRR, MGRR, MGRR, MGRR. If you think this game is over the top and wild, you need to play Metal Gear Rising Revengeance! We must continue the memes the DNA of the soul!
Oh, how I love finding a new great yt channel that I can binge in the span of a week...
Youre quickly climbing up to be my most looked forward content creator. Witty, humorous, but not overly in your face, love it.
thanks for the new video, and happy may fourth
That Juno's kiss scene on the Wii was terrifying, cause they didn't had close eyes textures, so they just stared into the abyss while kissing, that thing haunts me to this day
Oh my god, that sounds horrifying lmao
Note about the exploding Jedi corpses, in the books they show this happen with the death of a powerful sith lord (like with Shiev in the movies) and he explodes with dark force energy that nearly kills the protagonists post mortem. I think what's shown in the games here is lore accurate, on account of the explosion not being violent and a more "return to the force" concept which has been prestablished in Star Wars but not shown in this way before onscreen.
khanloopie you keep me up at night with your explanations
I just can't get enough of your videos, love them !
The whole presentation in this video is the perfect mix of information and funny quips.
Instant like and subscribe. Your humor had me in stitches. Very well done.
I laughed so hard at the "gay or aromantic" line. Great show, as always. Would definitely like to see Force Unleashed 2.
I read this literally like 5 seconds before it popped up in the video. The way it made me snort was awful.
I just found your channel and its currently my lifes mission to watch your entire back catalogue
My G. You knew the right time and did this video in the right way... Thank you for talking about a game that is a core memory for my childhood.
Omg I don't know how to respond to CZcamsrs in the right way. But I would like to provide a funny story....My mother has played this series recently and she ain't happy about the lack of stealth game play......She also called me an" Casual bitch" for allowing me to act like a super solider and have more than 5 deaths while she watches me play on NORMAL mode........Mommma be harsh yo. Lol
I know there isn't a stealthy style of Play but moms be angry about this yo.
omg how can your content go so hard, love your videos
omg i loved this one!!! mostly played 2 but gosh we need more of these...
both of the games where a big part of my childhood im so happy i saw this video
cant wait for the next video !!!
Deadpan "slay queen, etcetera."
This, right here, thats why i love your reviews.
Yeah, I remember... I remember...
Still won't stop me from watching this in full!
I enjoy your style of video, the pause between game content for extra context is good variety. And the subtle humor is a lot more enjoyable than the forced humor that you see from "dunkey clones" *cough* williaso *cough*
To be fair about the "beam of light" when shak ti died i think they wanted it to be like something that happened to Palpatine in episode 6 after vader threw him down the death star, a massive release of the force. ITs also very highlanderish and i dig it.
I always thought that the beam of light was maybe meant to foreshadow Kota not being dead? Like he’s the only one that doesn’t get a beam of light. 😅 Although, I do find that aspect to be quite ridiculous - especially when taken with the context of Order 66.
And it makes the death of a Jedi just a bit weird, like what is that beam of light? Is it their “soul” leaving? If so, where is it going? Is there a “Galactic Heaven” where all the good Jedi go? Why do just Jedi get to go there? And so on. It just clearly wasn’t thought about beyond a writer thinking “SOMETHING should happen when a Jedi dies.” Which is also silly with the context of the films, imagine how ridiculous the deaths of Yoda, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon would have been if there were these beams of light exploding out of them?
The algorithm randomly put your channel in my feed. I am very glad it has. Can't wait for force unleashed 2 and Crysis 3.
You were legendary for this here's a sub
I love it when people get made at this feat, when yoda literally states that with the force you either do something or you dont. We literally have characters like Luke who is the poster boy of mc energy literally move multiple black holes at once. Moving a star destroyer thats moving under repulser lifts in atmo is nothing to the force.
I feel like the main issue with him pulling down the destroyer is that hes still kinda young everyone else who did big feats was older and had way way more training it just feels kinda rushed for a cool moment I feel it could of worked if they said hey you know the layout of the ship remember the engine room reach out to the gravity drive/ engines and crush them. It wasn't even like a feat of rage either he just kinda did it they could of also had a few people die or something and it was just pure hate that pulled it down. It is a fun power trip game though no one can deny that
15:15
I know of one instance like that
SPOILERS for Thrawn triology
In The Last Command Novel by Timothy Zahn , when the crazy dark jedi Joruus C'baoth gets stabbed by a lightsaber, the book reads:
"With a last mournful Scream, C'baoth crumpled - And as it had with the Emperor aboard the Death Star, the dark side energy within him burst out in a violent explosion of blu fire"
So a big explosion of force energy, tho outside the Force Unleashed I've never seen a jedi die and explode like that
Neat! Thank you for sharing :D
One of my fave things about Proxy apart from giving you the chance to fight Maul satisfyingly if not long enough is that he and his directive are clearly riffing on the character of Kato from the Pink Panther films who has standing orders from Clouseau to ambush him at every chance.
May the 4th be with you!!!
Someone oulling a star destroyer to the ground
Whiners: YOU CANT DO THAT ,THATS ILLEGAL
Abelpth an embodiment of all kinds of destruction that would make Palpy $hit his sith pants many times over exist and is only contained by 3 literal force gods trapping her in a cage of vlack holes kept there by a superweapon ( think it was a gravity weapon forgot name)
Whiners: yeah thats reasonable
Centerpoint station 👌
@@khanlusa I knew it had station in its name or it was a station just could've figure it out thanks
i'm finally watching this video and i can't stop giggling at the thought of starkiller changing his outfits like ebony dark'ness dementia raven way
Amazing video. And now I gotta go back and play these games again. My one complaint is how criminally short they are.
I love the force unleashed. I’d love to see some of the characters from the games get introduced into other stories in canon. Kota, Juno and Proxy.
ahhh, good old times and memories
Better than anything Disney put out.
Going toe to toe with Vader "you have nothing left to teach me" and smashing his helmet off
It’s been so long since I played this game I never noticed proxy mimicking people around so casually
Loved this game n series. While frustrating trying to line up the ship to pull it out the sky, the visual effect of finally doing it was amazing. I was dishearten when he wasn't cast in the star wars films. Great voice actor as well.
I go with Cybernetic Reconstruction skin after Darth Vader yeets Starkiller into outer space with a stab wound through the gut.
loved this game so much when I was young playing it on my PSP. The hate towards to Star Destroyer being brought down to me only shows that it's people who didn't play the game and only hate it for the sake of hating it.
0:00 I do not need to imagine that. i lived it. it was a good day.
I just started playing this again. I forgot how fun it was.
This is my favourite story in all of Star Wars
This was awesome. Got you the sub
Great character, fun game. I would love to see him reworked asthe final Inquisitor type and have him put in the Jedi series to battle Cal Kestis.
These games were probably the only reason I cared about star wars growing up, and they were a fantastic gateway into character action games. Although I'm not reeeally~ sure this one's story holds up to scrutiny.
PREAAAAAACH I LOVE THIS GAME
Really liked this game back when it came out. I also remember the showcases where they showed the crazy force physics and stuff. I'm looking forward to watching this, just stumbled upon this vid.
Immediate note: Love the ME 3 purgatory club music haha.
Holy shit that expose in the intro XD
this is why I enjoy your content
Great game. Played it lots.
the voice acting is fantastic.
Khanlusa, would you ever do videos on game mechanics? I feel like you would have some great analysis on things like game physics, combat mechanics, and the like.
I'd personally enjoy a format like this with those kinds of videos too!
I think this was said In the past by other people, but I think starkiller *should* have killed Maris instead of letting her go, it would have made him more of a conflicted character whose role as the hero still wasn’t 100% locked in.
well found out more lore today.thank you! 11:06
GOD I MISS THIS GAME AND THE SECOND ONE!❤❤❤
I need the second one. I sparsely remember never completing it, but I do remember ramming a starship through a planetary shield
Sir..Your tone, diction and delivery is Jedi worthy
I remember how cold people accepted this game when it came out, 7/10 and stuff like that. But it aged like a fine wine
I’ve only ever played this game on the dsi BUT it was still insanely fun and one of my favorite games I’ve ever played!
i like a lot of things about starwars even though im not super well versed on the lore but id have to say my favorite thing is the duality of the force and much simple actions can empower or depower someone.
Star Killer will always be my favorite character. And I’ll advocate him being cannon until I die idc idc
1:20 This is a perfect analogy for the two games. Sure, one of these things is more respectable but tequila and speed is way more fun and that door was kinda busted anyway.
To clarify The Ripping of the Star Destroyer is not unprecedented period specifically Yoda does it in the early 2000s 2D Clone Wars animation
Even with the cut content, I think the Wii version is the ultimate version. It has rhe best use of motion control I have ever seen, with maybe some VR games doing better now years later.
Using your actual hands to break free from saber and force locks will never not be great. Especially since I learned to predict the orientations somewhat, making me feel even more badass haha.
Also making the intuitive motion of grasping someone (and pressing Z if memory serves) to grab items and enemies, and then flipping your hand upside down to actually start choking them... or ground slam them into an abyss. And actual force pushing. Never felt like a Force user as much as in that game. Fond memories
Funnily enough was playing Skyrim and recognized Shak Tii’s voice actor right away lol
I do find it hilarious that, for gameplay reasons, sure Mark pulls a space ship out of the sky, but still struggles against Vader.
I also love how he can tap into a such a stupid powerful skill that disintegrates *everything* around him,and if he does it wrong,it will turn him into dust as well.
Played on the Wii, this is a core memory.
