    I've been keen to do something like this for ages

    Just come across this video and loved it , I love sailing and immediately thought of adding a adaption to it for a mast and boom , a centre board in the middle of the deck and maybe make a tent off the boom for shade when anchored , keep the motor never know when the wind doesn’t blow 😁 very neat little system you guys made , well done. 👍

    Thanks I know this is an old video, but it just gave me an idea of what to do with my two kayaks. I’ve been trying to think of something. I’m going to put a bigger piece of plywood so that I could put some better chairs on top and sit a little higher off the water, thanks for this video😊

    Great idea. This way we will have room for our dog.

    This catamaran design really works well

    Thinking of building one myself out of fiberglass pods with struts in them to stop bowing, that's a very simple and brilliant idea and I want it for the same reason all in the car.

    Very cool, been thinking of doing this myself using the same crossbars and straps I use on top of my truck to haul the kayaks. Take them off my suv rack and slap them on the kayaks! Add platform with bolts and wingnuts or a couple more short straps and go! I would be careful using ratchet straps though as they can be easily overtightened to the point of damaging the kayaks. I will use cam buckle tiedown straps. Thanks

    Excellent design... this is a same design I've been thinking to design... with two sit on kayaks... and a trolling motor in the middle powered by a tool battery :-) ... I am very much interested in the design, the main reason is... that I can transport the kayaks and the wood on a vehicles roof rack.. no need for trailers!

    Simple idea. Think I'll try adopting it or portions as pictured. Understood less than half what was said. Pic tho is worth 1k words.

    Good idea. If the straps go under the canoes it causes unwanted drag. Also I’d remove the solid section of wood between the two canoes so that each paddler can paddle on left and right sides of each canoe. No one that I know wants to paddle only on one side. Also try using canoe paddles as well as kayak paddles.

      @acutt5512 Před 6 lety +6

      I dont see the small straps causing too much of a drag problem, especially with two people paddling or a trolling motor! Also if you didnt have the platform and 2 people were trying to paddle on both sides it would be like a 3 Stooges epidode!

    Looks really a simple idea. I was planning to do it with my canoes. But my canoes are different model, almost same length. Use you your idea to do it, two long pieces of wood, make a groove in the wood for the gunnel. Put a plywood in between the canoes, it should be do able... thanks

    Just need half of the kayak paddle since the people paddling only use one side. Whoever is in the middle won’t get hit by the unused end of the paddle.

    Love it!
    Do you think we could over the whole thing in a platform so we could set a couple chairs and maybe even construct a binimi top for shade?
    I'd like to do the who thing in aluminium tubing.

    I’ve just found this as I own two Tarpon 140’s and have a Mercury 5hp outboard sitting in my garage.🤔

      Hi if I had them i would but I've since sold it on. I currently have a smaller cat using two white water six on tops, which bizarrely works well and is much easier to transport

      My Brit friend tells me it's English with a moderate Scottish accent. Fun. :-) And, love the concept. Wonder if he ever got around to trying one with lighter weight materials. Also saw one online today made with PVC pipe.
