Never would I have thought that I could be so interested in watching a guy build a log cabin from the beginning...and enjoy every minute of it! I learn something new each time! Thank you Shawn. Plus, it's gets my mind off of all the crazy things happening in the world today...what a wonderful, peaceful relief.

The progress to this point has been surprising. I did not expect him to be under roof in the new cabin this winter, especially with all of his efforts on the greenhouse/garden. Definitely an amazing amount of work.

Did you notice that all the latest videos are sort of very dark, looks like much worse camera is used - it is dark and dull no matter filmed inside or outside. I understand the season, but I ve been watching the guy for years, since he started to built his previous cabin - the quality of footage has never been that bad as most if not all the recent ones...
I just absolutely love watching your videos, I'm so envious of your lifestyle, I realise that you have to work really hard to achieve everything that you have, but I bet you wouldn't change it for anything. When your cabin is complete you will have a fantastic homestead, and it's nothing more than you deserve. From all your hard work and effort you have achieved what most people only dream about, I wish you nothing but health, wealth and happiness.

I’m not sure what’s different about this video, but I think it’s is the most beautiful one that you’ve done. Like the frames over the windows. And thank you for the drone views, I used to be a hiker and I love the scenery. These days I do good to drag this old 84-year-old body to the Park and back! The wolves were great to hear. More if possible! Dear faithful Cali, such a sweet dog.

I also live in an area where we coexist with wolves. Often hear them howling, and see their footprints in the snow when out deer and partridge hunting.
Yesterday saw a flock of ravens in the middle if a nearby farm field, stopped the old pickup, trudged through 18" of fresh snow for a half km, and yup, just as expected came across a fresh from the night before wolf kill of a small deer. All that was left was the hide, the hind legs and the rib cage. The wolves, ravens and eagles have to eat as well.

How to train a human! 😂. Shawn, this cabin build has just been so enjoyable. I know I’ve said it before, but I want you to know that it is still a delight to watch. I find myself trying to figure out why you cut this in a certain way, or did this like that. Such a learning process. So beautiful! I could sit and knit and watch out the windows and never get bored.

yep the first one was great but this one....he has completely outdone himself. It's absolutely stunning. You can tell he built this one to last a lifetime.
Yup, like I wrote earlier in your internal ceiling post on your other channel, you and Cali have been zoned in on by a full Canadian Wolf pack, and you are under constant surveillance by them ! They are magnificently patient and determined hunters, and they won't stop until you stop them Shawn. These animals do represent a real danger (Even more than a local black bear or two) in the sense the wolf pack is far more aggressive and determined to get what you have to offer (Food) than the bears are. Cali can both smell and hear them just beyond the end of your open field in the thick wood watching. The watchers howl to communicate with the pack to surround your place. This is how you know they are about to make their appearance; When you hear them howl from more than one, or multiple directions, then grab your weapon (s) and be ready. Until then, keep your powder dry.
The look Cali gives you @ 41:35 when you tell her "Go Ahead" seems to say "You know I can smell that bacon and kimchi.. right... ? "

I'm glad you got the breezeway finished, so Cali can sleep in there, safe from the wolves, without getting too hot and wanting to stay out, as she did in the old cabin.
Here in the Netherlands they are trying to get some wolves to settle as part of improving nature. There had been none left here for a long time, though occasionally a single one would wander in from Germany. Now in the few largish nature reserves we have there are a few dens, and adolescents as well as lone German wolves are moving into more farmed areas. I thought wolves would prefer to keep their distance from humans, but there have been sightings of wolves moving around the fields near some woods, behind the barn, pretty close - as near as they were to your cabin. Farmers have reported a lot more kills than they could eat, like 6 sheep killed and more wounded in one night, in one field behind the barn close to the farmhouse, and a girl's pony killed in the field beside the stable, also close to their farmhouse, and those farm kids are told not to play behind the barn even in daylight.
Is it just that those young wolves don't know any better? And how do they learn to keep their distance, when they aren't hunted and even shooting at them with a paintball gun is forbidden?
I don't want them to be hunted, and I think all the farmers near nature reserves should get support to get better fences that will not only keep sheep, cows and ponies in but will keep wolves out.
But if they trot through the fields in daylight, take large animals from fields right next to farmhouses, and aren't wary/afraid of humans, I do worry that they will pose a danger to children playing outside or biking about on their own, as they do here, or even to dog-walking adults.
The mass sheep kills really were wolf kills, we don't have stray dogs here (all caught, chipped and taken to a shelter and adopted), and the dead sheep were checked to make sure it wasn't done by someone's dogs.
Modern narratives convince people that we should leave animals to live “natural” lives (not hunted by humans) ignoring the fact that we’ve evolved together for millennia together, us the dominant predator, and that it’s not a good idea to train animals not to fear us.

Shawn it has been a real pleasure watching you build both cabins but this one in particular is fantastic. At my old home in the Shawanaga Lake area, it's common to hear the wolves but not common to see them.

This is my favorite channel now. I love watching Shawn build his cabin, playing with Cali, and the beautiful scenery. Shawn is a Real Manly Man! Skills that most men don't have any longer. I'm 71, still working full time for a technical college in Wichita Kansas. I work from home now which is a Blessing. Was married for 8 years to a horrible man. been divorced almost 42 years and still single. Shawn's wife is a very blessed woman.

I live in northern WA state and we have the same weather as you do. Right now it is -10 C. Thank you for showing us the end results of all your work each day.
I'm in north central WA, eastern Cascade slopes. Not too far from the B.C. Canadian border. About two foot snow on the ground, and more coming. But I love winter (as long as I am still physically able to deal with it).

Unfortunately I live kinda in the city with more of a country atmosphere. I have every dog in the neighborhood howling every morning and every time a fire truck, ambulance or police car zooms by. It’s not beautiful haha. No just kidding it makes me homesick for Alaska. I just love watching you and Cali. Threw nothing better than fresh air the scent of pine with your best buddy by your side..

This is becoming absolutely stunning. What a beautiful place with so much love put into it..and Cali just enjoying life away from the smog and crappy kibble foods. What a wonderful life...lots of hard work but its all worth it when you lay your head down at night and admire your creation you built snuggled up with your dog.... Now with that said...those wolves and bears make me really nervous..moreso for Cali. Wolves are clever and will prey on you if they have the opportunity. Really scary. Stay locked and loaded and one eye on your furbaby.

The cabin looks great, that was the meanest bark I ever heard from Cali, at the start with the wolves howling. Now that the ceiling is done, the siding and trim seems like a cake walk, I am not understanding the one nail in the center of each board, won`t they warp, or did you go back and nail the top and bottom? We are usually in a room of the cabin, but when you back up and show us the cabin at a distance, it is just beautiful, even at night all lit up, it looks fantastic. Quite an achievement to say the least, well done sir.
