    Huh, I never knew Mount Rushmore was in the Grand Canyon. 22:42 The more you know! ;) (Yes, I understand that the race doesn't stay in Arizona, but the geography around Mt. Rushmore is in the Black Hills, and full of lush pine forests, it's not in the Badlands of South Dakota.)

      So funny now, since it was actually 96 AND it ended being called the Nintendo 64. Funny little piece of history.

      @@jaypostromboli-jpgamertv-457 The game was made after Midway saying a F-bomb to Sega and the former capitalized the latter's OutRun but with a bizarre concept, since America is known for having disturbing and bizarre subject matter compared to cutesy and colorful themes of Japan.

    I feel blessed to have experienced this game at my Boys & Girls Club growing up. I'm not sure how they acquired it, but they got a whole bunch of arcade cabinets donated/bought over the years and this was one of them.
    I'll never forget that intro "CROOOOOSiiiinnn, YEEaaahhh". Get's me every time!

    I distinctively remember watching Shrek 1 for the first time at my local movie theater (that no longer exists) I remember the ability to explode and road kill deer traumatized my 6 year old at the time e rated games only mind, it almost ruined shrek for me. Human memory is a strange thing.

      @@Zee-Core-Gaming Get thee to a Dave & Busters. Cruis'n Blast, the latest in the series, is there. And, yeah, it basically plays like an updated Verizon of the same game engine. Which makes sense. The game was produced by Raw Thrills, the arcade machine company founded by ex-Midway employees after Midway shut down their arcade division. Including Eugene Jarvis, the lead on the original Cruis'n USA. He kept using tweaked versions of the engine for the Fast & the Furious arcade games (the first of which wound up on the Wii without the F&F license but with the Cruis'n name), and returned to the series with Cruis'n Blast, which was also ported to the Switch.
      Oh, and Raw Thrills also used the engine for that great Batman car combat game a few years back. Because who doesn't like driving the Batmobile.

    The reviewers back in the 90s said the n64 version was terrible but idk what game they were looking at because the arcade and n64 versions are pretty close visually

    • @nameismetatoo4591
      @nameismetatoo4591 Před 8 měsíci

      The devs had to make a lot of changes for console. The arcade version seems to have had its soundtrack prerecorded, while the N64 version uses soundfonts (audio files were too large for game cartridges at the time) which give it that "cheesy" feel. Also the framerate suffered greatly in splitscreen mode, bordering on unplayable at times.
      I'll give the devs credit though. Porting a game from arcade to console was no easy task.

    I remember playing that game back in the 90s. I played it at the closest arcade from my high school, at the mall. The last time I played that game was back in the late 90s at Cambrian College’s arcade room; the post-secondary school where I earned my Accounting degree.

    Game was ported to the N64 in 1996, the music was butchered, and the framerate ran at about half that of the arcade version.
