The Midjourney Discord server is the LARGEST Discord server and is the fastest growing Discord server. But, is all this growth legitimate? Yeah lol. Midjourney even contacted me and left comments on my video telling me how wrong I was.
So, it's rewind time and now I'm going to tell you the truth about Midjourney and stomp out the conspiracy theories that I accidentally caused. I also managed to ask some questions to a Midjourney volunteer mod that knew A LOT more than I did.
At the end of the day, it just seems like Midjourney are a bunch of homies trying to make AI art.

1. To be completely honest, dealing with the more aggravated side of Midjourney staff left a sour taste in my mouth. I definitely understand that they are upset, some CZcams fella had a tin foil hat conspiracy theory that said they botted Discord members. I feel that someone in that position would just laugh it off and label it as jealousy for the massive organic growth. But the very abrasive defense from midjourney seems like I hit a nerve. And hitting a random nerve like that makes me still wonder about the situation as a whole.
While a lot of my "proof" in the old video is proven to be false, I still have a gut feeling that something might have happened. Regardless, make of it as you will, it's just an AI art bot that is trying to make you buy a subscription at the end of the day. If there is any major development, expect another video (with some actual concrete information).
2. The 30k member limit for adding midjourney to your server is no longer a thing.

I'd just like to say that I am amazed at the speed at which you provided a follow-up video that is concise and informative.
I'd like to apologize for my harsh comment in the other video, it was written in the heat of the moment and came off as way more aggressive than necessary. I was just kind of angry because the negative (and what I viewed to be misleading) content of the video could make people have a bad view of Midjourney, and by extension, AI art users in general.
I think you handled the situation in the best way possible, and I applaud you for that. Not a lot of CZcamsrs do that and I respect you for it :)

When I saw the first video I was like that's a bit confusing as I'm a Trial Moderator for a discord server with 140k+ members and I saw that only 20k people were online when I first saw your video.
I did the calculations and it only came to be around 14% of people that were online out of the entire server. You should definitely try to not assume things when making videos like these, and try to ask reputable people (such as moderators) on what happens around the server or why online counts are low and such.
Either way I'm glad you made a follow up video on the topic as I know many people were confused! Great stuff.

Using stable diffusion can actually be done a lot easier than hosting it on your own computer, because there are several websites that host it for you, for free. And while I believe that Midjourney does make better images, mostly when people say stable diffusion is really bad they're just using it wrong. It needs more/better descriptions and style modifiers, plus it most of the time only gives good results when you find the right cfg scale value.

Yeah, MidJourney used to purge some inactive users. I guess I was one of them, because I was kicked out of the server seemingly for nothing
Been on discord since 2016 and I’ve never heard about or seen a single ad for this discord

I think it's pretty cool how Discord is supporting MidJourney for advertising and being the biggest server on the platform.
I used mid for a few things. one being some build ideas for minecraft with some dark souls inspiration. got some nice gens out of it with some nice possible ideas.
I've not been on the server for a while, joined within days of it starting. got purged early on before the member cap was increase, might join back. still less interested in paying 10$ just for a picture gen I'll do here and there

So I recently subscribed and started watching NTTS and before that I was in mid journey server but I didn’t really use it so I left crazy to see the story.
7:20 I'm on a server, where it's common to purge those accounts, and they don't do this for either of your reasons, they "want to build the member count purely on active accounts".
This goes against, what I believe, is the natural selection of discord server popularity. For example, I'm a lurker, and lurkers are what gets servers their popularity in the first place.
Ungespielt, a German CZcamsr, also is grateful to his lurkers, as that's the reason to his successful career, both as a streamer and video producer.

Tbh setting up Stable Diffusion UI is super easy and the general way most people do it now. It just tends to break itself and needs to be repaired from time to time.

Hey, I saw your build, was it fairly easy to put together for you? I've never dabbled with building computers but your set-up seems pretty decent.
I’ll be brutally honest. Small form factor PCs are difficult to build in, are typically run hotter (due to less air volume), and cost more due to the SFF premium. If you are just building a normal PC, use pcpartpicker and you’ll have a wonderful experience.

stable diffusion is actually really easy to set up, there are videos on youtube explaining every step in around 5 mins total

Alt abuse is still absolutely real on MJ. Auto generated / throwaway emails dont work too well. My method is just making a gmail acc by hand, then discord off that and ur done. Easy credits. You can also abuse the job queue system of MJ - jobs which are already queued will still go through even if you are out of credits.
In a big enough server, the member list becomes impossible to use when scrolling down.
I watched both of your videos and I appreciate the effort for correction, but how did you know that the Midjourney Bot is in 550K+ servers? That seems way too high and was just a screenshot.

Where I think you're wrong is thinking about the discord server as any other discord server. When you say for example, that not many people are online at a time.
The server offers a service. It offers a trial of it too. Many people (including me) joined the server, used the trial credits and effed off. Of course not a large portion of people will be online at the same time.
Others understandably make alts to have more free credits (any free trial without credit card suffers from this). Yes, they benefit from more members and that's why they allow alts. So?

What mouse do you use? Can you link it?
Pixai is a good ai art generation that's free to use and easy to use. You can even use it easily on mobile.
IDK when you last tried to run Stable Diffusion, but you absolutely don't need to learn to run Linux or screw around with WSL.
Automatic1111's webui makes setup a fairly easy 5-step process. You still need to be somewhat computer-literate, but the barrier of entry isn't nearly as high as you kind of made it out to be.

running stable diffusion on ur local machine 𝘤𝘢𝘯 be difficult to do but there are several all in one downloads that you can just download and then immediately start using it. GRISK GUI is one of them.
