    I believe travel is a way to get to know one's self. It plays a great role in our growth and helps us understand the world better. I have faced my share of setbacks in my travel plans but I have never regretted visiting a new destination or meeting new people.
    I have been traveling extensively throughout Europe in the last 4 years. I love and live for it. Currently, I live in Germany and have come to know the European culture up close. I am slowly learning to understand the local perspective. This helped me a lot in evolving my travel plans and I learn something new every day.
    It is a myth that traveling in Europe is always an expensive affair. Em Knows Places is a platform where I intend to encourage you to plan budget travel itineraries, with your independence. I do not push you to follow a specific plan, but simply become a part of the flow in which you are directed.

    Great informative video. We had a night in Rothenburg last summer. Easily one of the top 10 towns I have ever visited. Simply beautiful.

    I drove the Romantic Road from its southern terminus at Neuschwanstein to Rothenburg ob der Tauber in 2017. Many sections of the modern road are pretty mundane, but sometimes if you get off the newer main road and back onto the older roads going through the villages it gets more interesting. I first noticed this when we ventured into Donauworth for breakfast.

      We had to be very careful choosing our routes during this trip. We saved most of our routes in advance on the map but still got rerouted at some points. Google always shows the fastest route which can be mundane and German autobahns are usually not that scenic. Thanks for bringing this up! Half the fun of enjoying this trip is the scenic route.

    It would be very hard to do justice to all the sights that you saw, and those you missed on such a short road trip. Wuerzburg is a great place to spend several days. and you were only able to skim the surface of this amazing Road! You missed the Wieskirche, as well as the fantastic Palace in Weikersheim. I've been to Germany many times and there's always more to see on the Romantischestrasse!

      Hi there.. that’s true but also depends how much time you have and your budget. This trip was mostly about enjoying the road trip and to get a glimpse of what the Romantic road has to offer. We had only a week of vacation and we tried to get the best out of our limited time. We loved some of the sights more than the others and would definitely be going back to spend some quality time in each of those places.

    No, restaurants are not scarce in the countryside. I have so far _hiked_ halfway through Germany from north to south, avoiding major cities, and have never had any problems finding somewhere to eat. Fair enough, I have not necessarily found a place exactly at noon but there has always been some place somewhere.
    Nor have they been particulary expensive, rather on the contrary. A major tourist spot like Rothenburg could ofc be different

    • @emknowsplaces
      @emknowsplaces  Před 11 měsíci

      Hi there, I don't think it's a yes or no topic. We mostly stayed at villages that were off the beaten path and it really was difficult finding restaurants. The ones we found sometimes closed very early or had limited options.
      For example, we were easily able to find restaurants at Nördlingen and Rothenberg ob der Tauber but did not find any option at Creglingen when we arrived at 19:00 hrs. We are budget travellers so we usually try to save when we can. The definition of expensive could be different for different people. We found preparing our own meals way more convenient and pocket friendly. This was strictly our personal experience.

      @@emknowsplaces I fully understand that you would want to fix your own meals when you can, no one is made of money. I just did not want people to get the impression that it is hard to find someplace to eat in Germany, even off the beaten path. Google maps shows 6 places in Creglingen...

      Hi Wendy! Thanks for your kind words. I do follow Rick Steve’s itineraries for many of my trips around Europe but not this one. I found out about the Romantic road from my German friends and got intrigued. After that, I just chose my favorite spots on the route and went for it. It was absolutely breathtaking! 😊
