      ***** what are you talking about , every exhaust system makes different sounds this uses what every other manufacturers use today . controlled by flaps diverting exhaust to another section within the exhaust to make it quieter sound or moves it to another section for a louder sound. please explain ? sound still comes through the exhaust system whats so fake about this? BMW use speakers for sound ! thats fake!!

    • @EvaQ8
      @EvaQ8 Před 9 lety +2

      where exactly does he say this , its a tuned exhaust system no different to any tuned exhaust system - do you have any idea how an exhaust system works, i cannot believe im having this conversation with you, so what your saying is every car with an exhaust has a fake sound!!! WTF So,,, lets see ,,if i remove the current exhaust system and replace it with an aftermarket, 1, it will not meet current regulation EPA testing and yes the sound will be deeper, louder and more wild - is this fake also ? all exhaust systems are bent and baffled to accommodate a certain sound. i will use the old M3 4litre V8 ,,sound was quiet from factory however an after market exhaust system made the car ,,4 litre V8 sound AWSAME - so the after market exhaust system made the car louder and deeper - i guess this is fake according you.

      Tsalis C You are the man! That is what I wanted to tell this guy but I could not find the words since I am unaware of the actual technical knowhow, but all I know is that car makers spend a good amount of time audio engineering the sound of their cars. Toyota enlisted the help of Yamaha to craft the sound of the lexus LFA for instance.

    • @bobhope4288
      @bobhope4288 Před 9 lety

      Faisal Haque My memory says BMW was one of the first to ruin their own well planned naming scheme by calling their 4.4ltr v8 a '45' then following it up with calling their 4.8ltr v8 a '50'.
      I'm sure Mercedes would use the same line of reasoning as BMW use to use. They claimed the number does not represent the actual displacement of the engine, but it represents that the engine makes as much power as a ________ displacement engine.
      With the C63 they would say, It may only be 4.0ltrs displacement, however it makes equivalent power to a 6.3ltr engine.
      Also, all the 80 year olds in my area driving around in amg's at 15mph below the speed limit who walked into the dealer and just went for the most expensive version they could get would be upset if this years badge number was lower than last years badge number, they'd feel like they bought the inferior car with a lower badge number.
      I do however agree and miss the days when the badge on the rear told you what the engine actually was.

    • @rare6499
      @rare6499 Před 9 lety +6

      ***** Except the M4 is a coupe and this is a saloon...and the M4 has 424 BHP where as this has 503 BHP..as well as a much more advanced rear differential, it also makes more torque and sounds better, without the need for lame virtual sound. I love BMW, but they can't compete here. The C63 is another level above it. Not sure therefore how the M4 could be 'way' better. Sure its an awesome car..but way better?

    • @rare6499
      @rare6499 Před 9 lety +2

      The comp pack car will be great no doubt about it, but it won't be able to compete in terms of power. Im not sure how this sounds like a diesel lol, man that must be an intense diesel. The M3/4 are great cars, but the one area they did fail was the noise. Truly lacking. No where near the awesomeness of something like a CSL E46. AMG have BMW well and truly beat when it comes to noise.

    • @rare6499
      @rare6499 Před 9 lety +3

      Dude its not exactly fake, it just uses valves within the exhaust system. Lots of vehicles do. It still makes a better noise than the M3/4 which every single reviewer has noted is extremely muted and characterless.

    • @ChrisDorgan
      @ChrisDorgan Před 9 lety +1

      Josh Charlie I agree this sounds better but I wouldn't say the M4 is muted haha not in sport mode and at full chat. I think externally the M3/M4 looks like it's been built for the purpose it was made for. This car looks like the power side of it was an after thought and the main concern was the diesel line up for fleet cars etc. Maybe the coupe will look better. The interior however looks like a more interesting place to be than the M3/M4's although I wouldn't say it wasn't a pleasant place to be. The power side of things... it wouldn't suprise me in the slightest if the M4 could have this off round the track. The HP figure being pretty much just a bragging tool. I don't know if that's the case, I could be totally wrong. Either way at the moment I'm really not a fan of this cars external styling it just looks boring man, especially in comparison to the last one (which was understated in it's own right)

    Mr Xcar unlike quite a few folks expressed their dislike for you guys not following the "guide lines of youtube car review (drive in the road, go to track, do side ways slow motion, do lap time,end)", i am extremely pleased with this video and i absolute encourage and praise Xcarfilms UNIQUE and outside the box content, it is absolutely refreshing to see the same car being reviewed yet on a completely different platform of display, and that perhaps the biggest brilliance of your film crew and efforts, as for the car, i think ive found my new dream car (dream car as of the list i could afford it) for the longest ive been a BMW fan but that for quite some time is no more (the BMW's i fell love with been off the production line for decades now), so with the new GT and this new C63S to me are simply stunning piece of machines, can't help to to think Mercedes are on a row,pushing beautiful cars off their factory and completely dominating F1. Anyway yeah thanks for reading my comment and i look forward to see Xcarfilms personal, unique and outside the "standards" reviews to come, cheers!

  • @Paxsali
    @Paxsali Před 9 lety +54

    I disliked this video and I want to give my reason for it:
    This video spends half of it's time explaining the general history of the turbo and the need for it due to new emission and fuel economy regulations issued by the EU. It was very interesting to listen to, however, the title of the video was the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S and I expected to see a caar review. Please don't mix up some generic "turbo documentary" into your car review videos. Thanks.

    • @christianaugustin7047
      @christianaugustin7047 Před 9 lety +7

    • @Reznor_Meeks
      @Reznor_Meeks Před 9 lety +1

      perhaps a chance to educate the public with why and what is a turbo and why is in the new engine and what to expect for is completely relevant to the content of what is a car review, perhaps what you should translate your thought could be: didn't met YOUR personal expectation there for it dont meant what you perhaps like, will suit the rest of us, which already we have a premium example that some prefer images, and others prefer images with information, now dont go all butthurt you had your chance to voice your thoughts i just had mine.

    • @Paxsali
      @Paxsali Před 9 lety

      Elbowz But what about the wheel?

    • @Reznor_Meeks
      @Reznor_Meeks Před 9 lety +4

      ***** that's the beauty of it tho, there is so many reviews already for this car, you have Autocar, Chirs Harris, Motortrend, few youtubers already, so if you think, if they all follow the same exact concept how boring would that be?, i think here Xcar showed you a little more, instead of a slow motion drift scene they educated where turbo's came from, perhaps instead of showing how much options cost, they educated the public rather the turbo interact with the experience of driving this car or not and so on, they realized that the obvious stuff have already been done, so they went outside the box to give you, and me and everyone else some fresh to look at, and that my friend is brilliance, cheers!

    • @Paxsali
      @Paxsali Před 9 lety

      Elbowz Yeah, I know. I've heard it before on every other car review on the planet where they had to go smaller displacement or fewer cylinders, but still wanted to maintain their previous model's total power output. Truely innovative, highly educating. Now I know exactly why I should buy a Mercedes-AMG C 63 S. Because turbos', you know... (-_ - ')
      Seriously tho: I appreciate your effort, but I'm not entirely convinced by your arguments. I do not see myself as an Xcar fanboy, nor hater, and I have also subscribed to all other car-mags you have mentioned above (and more). Sure, it's not a given that my expectations are always met, but A) that's also true for any other car-mag and B) my expectations are hardly ever matched. I just wanted to get off my chest what I found, IMHO, as an unnecessary, too unspecific, but foremost overly long excourse. If it wasn't about the overall length and the fact that it took roughly 50% it the whole video... I probably wouldn't even have bothered to write a comment at all. And if they actually bring a turbo take that's more generic and covers all the new cars I would find that a great addition. Finding good & speaking titles for videos is not completely irrelevant and to the very least it's not entirely the viewer's fault, if any expectations are not met. Don't you agree?

    It doesn't matter how much engineering has gone into the engine and exhaust note, the naturally aspirated engine was is and will FOREVER BE THE BEST SOUNDING ENGINE EVER. Heck if your really keen on buying something with this new car looks get rid of the engine (sell it on ebay or make a living room show piece) although I doubt the wife will let you do that and then throw in a 6.3 litre into the car. Nice review. But glad I got a 2015 C63 coupe with the non-turbo 6.2L V8 while I still was able to.
    There is no match for a normally aspirated engine when it comes to throttle response and sound.
    The reviews of the new 4L are positive, but note that no one is saying it sounds better than the 6.2L, or has better throttle response, because it simply doesn't.

    • @romulus_
      @romulus_ Před 9 lety

      Two things: Design convergence - all cars are generally starting to look similar. Secondly, I think the Japanese/Koreans have started copying them aggressively. Look at the new Kias and Hondas. It's tough to change your design language and maintain brand identity. It'll be a challenge for Mercedes. I guess a third thing would be Mercedes' attempt at capturing younger buyers. They're going for aggressive styling because they are associated with being an old man's car.

    the last gen c63 is one of my all time favorite mercedes in almost all versions (especially the estate!) next to the 190E 2.5
    i reserve judgement on this after i see a black series version but this doesnt do much for me.
    the amg gt however might sway me from porsche

    Great video! although I do not believe the M178 and M177 is the exactly same (AMG GT s and C63S engines) as one is dry sump lubricated one is not.
    Then again given that they are so similar I do not understand why anyone will go for the GTS if the C63S offers 90% of the car and half the price...

      Desmond Cheung the AMG GT also has the dual clutch transmission, while the C63 has the regular automatic. People who like 2 doors usually hate 4 doors, and people who need 4 doors arent looking at a coupe in the first place. They are almost the same machine, youre right, but with different missions.

    Just a tiny bit of constructive criticism (hopefully).
    The audience watching these videos are fairly clued up on cars, some of the recent stuff from you guys is getting a bit patronising, or regurgitating information we all know already as it was said by another program already.
    Keep up the vids, no more heavy breathing ;-)

    The old c 63 amg looks and sounds more aggressive. It has more curves and sharp edges than this one. They should of made it look more aggressive instead of making it a luxury look although it still looks good. Because this one is larger it weighs heavier and plus the old c 63 amg is more streamlined wich could gain more speed. For instance if you are going fast the car needs to be streamlined so it cuts through air particles.

    Forgot to mention in your short history of turbocharging...Saab. Turbos for the masses to increase power of a small engine, started on the 99. Otherwise, love the C63. BMW is slowly dying...digging their own grave too, selling out chasing sales volume. The Metallica of the automotive world.

    Sorry but it doesn't sound as good as the old one,New BMW M3 sounds better to my ear,not as loud as the new C63 but it has some original sound and I'm not talking about the speaker BS,Look at it this way,BMW M3 feels proud of the turbos this doesn't,its like a kid forced to play football but he is more interested in basketball.What I want to see is the kid playing basketball ie 4.0L Supercharged V8
