Cinque Terre, Italy had been high on my photography wish list for a long time. I was excited to finally go, and have a lot of time to explore and shoot. In fact, I had so much time in Cinque Terre that I actually put together a photography guide for the area. This location really is a dream. Cinque Terre does not disappoint at all, least of all from a photography standpoint!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video! It was so helpful in deciding what to do and where to go. Really appreciate it!
Thanks. Great info. Will check out your guides. Last time i was in Cinque Terre i was shooting my 4x5 view camera. Not the lightest option for hiking the trails. Heading to CT again this year and looking forward to using some of your tips.
An absolutely superb vlog Brendan. This area is now on my bucket list. Really enjoy the information you give on these older vlogs. Really helps 👍
A dream come true trip! Thanks so much for sharing. Hope to have the opportunity to get there.
Great video! I'm so glad I come across to your video before our trip to Italy in less than a month now. Thanks so much for all the tips for shooting spots. I'm just an amateur but I love photography. I've seen so many gorgeous pictures of this area but wonder where they were shot from. Your video is exactly what I need. Again, thank you.
Going there next week! Great guide Brandan! cheers
my wife and I will be there in April. It will be my first trip crossing the Atlantic. Thank you so much for this. I cannot wait to see the beauty of this place.
Awesome, thank you!
Been there last week, it was a great experience so easy to connect between the Cinque Terre using the small green and red train pass.. A dream comes true.. Thanks God
Very informative video! Thanks.
Great video Brendan, after seeing him, I decided to visit this place this November.Of course I immediately pulled Fripito and bought your guide Florence and Cinque Terre, perfectly described, your photos absolutely fabulous.I hope really hang out in November and I can handle to photograph some great photos.I had only one question,I have a Canon 17-40L lens will suffice me to take pictures, or even take a 70-200.Thank you for all your videos are super :)
Haha weather is absolutely "shite" you've definitely been hanging around with someone Irish. A great phrase we Irish say when the evenings get longer, "Ah sure there's a great stretch in the evenings now"
Thanks for all the info. I am planning my trip soon,What lens do you recomend, Always try to go ligther, a 24-105 full frame will do the work?
beautiful !
Great Video, Thanks...
Great video! Hello! Is cinque de tierre close to amalfi coast? Or is cinque de tierre by florence or rome? If so, how do you get to cinque de tierre? How did you get to cinque tierre? And which village is the first one? Thanks!
Hey Brendan, greetings from Scotland! Some quick questions for you! What sort of filters are you using for the skies and long exposures? I know you use Lee filters but which specific filters did you use for the shots in this video? Love your images and your videos!!
+Kevin Murray I use 2 filters more than anything: a 6-stop ND, and a 3-stop soft grad ND... usually in conjunction. If you download this guide, I actually mention which filter I use in the photos I use one. :D
Nice work , good footage , Peace
Nice! Thanks for the video, very informative! Just was freaking a little at around 4 mins seeing you leaving your camera on its stand on the ledge while you talked.... Must be a very still day for you to do that haha...
Damn!! I was there at the end of Jan/16 as well! Wish I had seeing this before going there... Took a lot of pictures (with no tripod), but they are not even close to yours. Great shots!!
hi brendan, just watched your video. we are going to to a trip from zurich, switzerland to cinque terre. and we are gonig to take the train till monterosso and sleep there for a night, cause our train will arrive around midnight. and than the second night we will stay in verazze and de third night in riomaggiore and than back to verazze. what do you think? and can u give us some recommandation where we could stay. thanks for helping. big hug from switzerland, debby
Hey Brendan, great guide, thanks for it.
If the Italian pronunciation (and yours is quite the Anglo-Saxon tourist type) still bothers you, here you are some hints:
You want to pronounce the u after the q in Cinque terre - something like how you pronounce it in words like quarry or quick.
Vernazza is pronounced with a zz like in pizza or Horowitz, not with a s like in scene.
The gi in Riomaggiore iz pronounced like a normal j as in job. The i there is in order not to read it with a g like in God.
Once again, thank you for the exceptional guide. I hope i'm not a pain in the ass with my spelling corrections.
What airport do I land at to get to Cinque Terre? Also should I bring a lot of euros ?
great video!! how you travel there? by train or by car? thanks
Train from La Spezia
Hi I will be going by end of the January, good to know that won't be many tourist . What focal length lens do u use most ?Thanks for sharing all the information! Subscribe and like !
I shot almost everything ultra-wide. Most images I took of Cinque Terre were shot between 16-35. I did a little bit of long lens stuff (70-200) to get details. But, I was mostly wide.
for your night shots, are you using tungsten WB to give you an even bluer sky? Beautiful images by the way!!
+Jose Uribe sometimes, but honestly, I just shoot in auto WB and correct it in post if I need to.
Thanks for the tip.
Corniglia??
i love shooting when it rains.
Cheenka terra?
I recommend hiking the trail that passes through all the villages but watch out! some women tried to steal my foto gear in Manarola :D pretty much where u are standing! :D when I was there you couldn't move! nice to see it empty, than again I did my Italy tour in September :D
+Livingmylife I imagine it's packed there in the summer and fall. It was so nice not seeing any tourists in the winter!!
Hey Brendan, Gr8 Videos!
Do you do your editing yourself?
Visit INDIA! you will love it!
I do it all myself, yes.
As for India... I'm in Goa right now. Check out the new vlogs!
Is it me or are the photos just not as sharp as theyre supposed to be - kinda blurry tbh.
I guess I'm a weirdo - I love inclement weather! I would also appreciate visiting when the tourists are NOT there!
How do you afford all the traveling haha I hope my question does not bother you .
+nadia belakbir He made a blog about it, variation of money from stocks, youtube, blog, and new paper and magazine sale on tops of some client work :) :D
+Livingmylife thank you for the reply!
+nadia belakbir Yup. Have a look at this article: petapixel.com/2015/04/20/how-i-make-money-as-a-travel-photographer-in-2015/
I'm now earning more money than last year, but the idea in how I make money is the same.
+Brendan van Son - Thanks for that. It's the first I've seen with actual numbers. I find the "how" and "how much" very interesting.
