- controls are derpy to begin with
- chocobo will jerk to the side at the worst times
- balloons spawn where you can't get to them because of the chocobo's auto-pathing
- balloon hitboxes are tiny
- bird hitboxes are huge
- birds will spawn at incredible angles to hit you directly
- bird models will catch on your chocobo while you're stunned, causing another hit immediately after the first.
- opponent can push you, but not vice-versa
- first few balloon spawns can make or break a run but you need to finish the whole run to retry it.
Fuck this minigame
Finally got it with 36.2t, 14ba, 0bi.
And the chocobo was derping out the whole time.
Sounds like a skill issue, I can do this in under 10 mins on every playthrough, I'm 36, just did it again yesterday 😂
@@Beetlejuice699I have been playing this game for years. The original on the PS2, the remaster on the PS3, and on the PS4. Almost every person who has played this game has agreed this race is a pain to deal with. Maybe everyone has a skill issue but I think it boils down to rng and luck.

Shit like this pisses me off to the extreme. Never understood why Japanese developers love to borderline torture completionists. It's funny to a certain extent, but when you have gamers raging and making videos and universally agree that this game sucks ass then it makes you question why exactly the devs went to these lengths. This race is more rng luck based than skill.

The balloon hit box is super precise but of course the birds can hit you from space.
The only real reason this mini game is super hard and sucks the hit boxes are brutal

And the fact that it's fucking boring. This may be a little harsh, but at the very least, whoever designed this deserves to have their thumbs gnawed off by rodents.

1: Don't push the other trainer.
2: Pick a lane
3: Get the balloons
4: Avoid the seagulls
5: Pray to whatever elder god you favor most

Guys. There is no "guide" for this freaking mini game. You need to be EXTREMELY LUCKY.
1. Get a 5 baloon first section.
2. Dodge all seagulls in the second section and collect 4 balloons
3 pray to not be hit by two seagulls in the 3rd section and collect 4 balloons .
You will end up having 13 baloons and 1 hit. If your time is under 37 you will get 0.00 time.
Took me 3+ hours to beat. Btw use pad only.not stick
Youre not wrong unfortunately this is extremely luck based although there is no complete guide for it this has always worked for me since I played on the ps2 and every version after and I did say in the video this is very lucked based
I finally did it with a time of 35 seconds, 13 balloons and zero birds. My heart was racing at the end
That's the best way to do it if you finish in about 35 seconds with 13 balloons and 0 bird you are pretty much guaranteed to get it but it does make the heart skip a beat lol

A lot of gamers would rage, and curse at this mini game, because of those sandblasted grease seagulls.
Yeah the seagulls sucked however for me I seriously hate the lighting dodging more then this now that makes me rage haha

Playing this game after about 20 years. I played it as a kid and never dreamed about getting something like a Celestial Weapon (because I just wanted to beat the game). Now, as an adult, I'm trying to get EVERYTHING. All the trophies and all the Celestial Weapons (and complete all of the minigames/side-games). I will say that this is pure hell.
I don't know which thing is worse, the stupid butterflies, the amount of lightning dodges, or the fact that even though I 'trained' this Chocobo, he does whatever he wants, whenever he wants. I am EXHAUSTED. It's been fun, but at the same time, there's so much on the line! Like, when I spend a bunch of time getting to 50 lightning dodges and then Tidus is like 'but what if I didn't dodge this next one and you had to start all over.' Or with the butterflies: 'what if depth perception weren't a thing and you just had to guess if you were running between the red butterflies.' Or, even worse, if you're like me and didn't notice there was a treasure chest after you fought Yunalesca, now you have to keep restarting the game hoping that Yojimbo will hit Dark Bahamut with Zanmato out the gate. I'm getting there bit by bit.
So far I've completed Yuna's and Rikku's celestial weapons. Once I've gathered enough fiends, I'll have Auron's. I've kind of given up on Wakka's for a minute because Blitzball is a whole other thing, but I'm here out of desperation, hoping that I can use your tips to get this score that I need. Fingers crossed!
Wakka is essential for most superbosses. Attack reels goes up to 12 hits, and the World Champion lets you get it 3x as fast. Not to mention ignoring defense and breaking the damage limit.
Butterflies are pretty easy, as they are literally in the exact same position every time, and you have plenty of time.
The lightning dodge has a pretty easy way to do it.
Blitz gets way easier after you get a few players like wakka and Brother.
This on the other hand.
This minigame is designed to make you hate the game.
I honestly don't see any other reasons for it's existence
There are some good guides on blitzball. The main thing is recruiting players and figuring out how the stats work. If you have strong endurance you can blast through a defender and then shoot at goal which gives you so much more chance to score. Tidus(LF), Wedge(RF, Luca stadium), Brother(MF, Skyship), Zalitz(LD, Luca, sits on rail in front of place you can listen to music etc.), Ropp(RD, Mi'ihen highroad travel agency, best defender in the game), Jumal(GK, sitting by the fountain in Luca).
I'm not even gonna bother with Kihmari's and Lulu's sigil. Chocobo racing is the last I have to do as I'm gonna use Wakka, Tidus and Rikku for endgame because of their overdrives.
Hey Just to save you time. Im restarting because i want 99k HP for fun and took the wrong sphere grid. Standard has more nodes.

The final stretch is the hardest part because for some reason you just lose complete control of you Chocobo and it's out of your hands if you can get a balloon or not. I remember beating this pretty easily as a kid somehow. What the fuck did I do!?
Edit: Literally 5 minutes later I get it. RNG. I somehow managed to get 18 balloons and only get hit 3 times. One additional RNG factor I see commentors not mention is that you want the trainer to get hit by the birds so you can collect balloons in peace, that's what happened here, she got hit early and I somehow collected like 10 balloons in the middle section so even though I got twice in a row near the end it didn't matter.
That's very true towards the start you want to use the trainer as a meat shield for birds this tatic also works if you are only slightly behind her on the last bit aswell congratulations on beating this mini game enjoy your full power caledbog
the worst is that, once u know u fail, you can't restart... u have to wait for it to end, it's so annoying.
Man. Thankfully I had a good laugh cause I was so stressed inside currently day 3 of farming the race and rng is kicking my ass I can feel my insides turn as I’m getting smacked 2,3,4, times over by the bird. Fun mini game, fun life. I said when I get older I’ll conquer this game this game still bending me over. Sheeze. 😅😅😅 I’m grateful many can relate to my pain.
I love being a part of the FF community. FFT and FFX are my top two games of all time. Unfortunately, this mini game was only completed once in my life, with the 750 hour PS2 file corrupting LITERALLY the next day. Thank you for the guide! I am looking forward to attempting this again soon. I do need to start the game over (or continue an almost completed file) to feel comfortable with trying this again.
The FF Community is such a beautiful thing I'm happy I found the game's as a kid I've enjoyed pretty much everyone I've played however In every ff there is one super annoying mini game lol I hope the guide is useful and I hope rng blesses you on your attempts as unfortunately it's very rng based but good luck you've got this

got lucky it beat it in a few tries.. the lightning strike one is the hardest for me now.. Gaming lag/controller issues are a big problem on the switch for me.. the PS2 it was easy as heck for me to do.. i cannot for the life of me do it on the remaster on the switch

Did this race one time and got exactly 0:0.0 but because you have to finish in LESS than 0:0.0 it didn’t give me the sigil. My system almost didn’t survive that encounter.
Yeah I've had that happen before it is hands down one of the most annoying things that ever happened in one of my playthroughs

the main thing I hate about this mini game is the fact that chocobo will constantly dodge the balloons and go right smack into a seagull.

There's so much to dislike about this trophy task. RNG on balloon position can mean you lose instantly with the trainer taking early balloons. The walls have really weird spring effects sometimes. The camera is an enemy. Hitboxes on balloons. Randomness of birds, including a merciless finish line bird possibility. I sat and played for I think 4 hours straight in order to knock off this task. I never want to play this mini game again.
Also, I achieved a 6 second, 3 second, 1 second, and 0.1 second best time before getting the 0.0 time. Rage fuel.

I swear it's like my chocobo is deathly allergic and afraid of balloons. i've learned how to dodge the birds for the most part but i'll be running right at balloons and he doesn't pick them up.
Man, I wish people luck with this one 😅 You definitely made it look easy. I do not recall it being this way. I remember it was extremely frustrating. In fact, it was this side quest that drove me insane the most 😁 Tbh, they all sucked. The 200 dodges in the Thunder Plains was ridiculous, but it had a little trick you could do to get that continous strike in one spot. It's not neccesarily dodging the strike that's annoying. It's how many times you have to do it. 200 times is overkill 😅 Bliztball was another. I think it was pure luck with that one. Side quest was made to torture us lol. Appreciate the tip. I've been thinking about playing FFX again lately. Will definitely keep this one in mind.

Yeah the controls for this mini game don't feel good on ps4 compared to ps2
After 6 years i played this game again...on my idk 15th attempt or so i got so insanely lucky on the 2nd and last part but grabbed only 1 balloon on the first part....finished in 0:36:4 and got 12 balloons and no hit...so sad - i really thought this is the run
I've been there it's the worst feeling because it's always missed by literally 1 balloon it's a savage experience
Well after 3-4 hours I finally did it and it happened on the run I thought "If I don't get it now, I quit".
I said "I'm gonna 2 more runs then I quit." Still didn't get it 😂
W tip: use the D-pad for movement. If you’re playing with switch joy cons, just hold the left joy con in both hands and use each thumb to tap left and right respectively.
use dpad you can only move left and right. just focus on never hitting a bird and youll get it eventually through being more risky after awhile
Eventually got it after playing about ten a day for a week. Pure random. Choco pulled in some odd directions in front of birds but they missed. Hit balloons at random and got 14 and no hits. Delighted...
I managed to crack this today having probably put in about 3hrs over the last two days. Painful, but thank God it is over.
It's a shame I'm better at dodging balloons than those damn birds
Honestly it always feels like that we dodge the things that don't move and hit the things that do
I legitimately completed this once on my first ever playthrough on ps2 but after a ton of frustrating retries. I could never do it again on my second playthrough tho and it easily prevented me from replaying the entire game even though I love the game overall, just had to settle with my saves from my first playthrough.
Thank-you for this, playing the HD remaster at the moment and this has always been tough. I will use this method. 👍

I’ve played ff10 8 times. 7 of those I spent hours to finally get the Sigil. I’m doing the 8th one now and I got the Sigil on the first try thankfully.
In the HD remaster I simply haven't been able to do it... The guy that did this minigame was on bad shrooms

If all else fails you can get an action replay type device for your game and set it to 0.00 no matter how many times you get hit.

The birds are some what easy to dodge my issue is actually getting the balloons, even if i am 1 mm off it doesnt pick it up

Whoever designed this minigame and thought it was clever to lock an end game weapon to a tediously RNG soaked, terribly designed "race" hated by everyone, should get hit by a truck.
The fact they put out the remaster with this trash is nearly unbearable. Seriously about to drop the game XD
Honestly this mini game alone has stopped alot of people even bothering to get tidus weapon maxed out and honestly I don't blame em this sucks even with good rng you still gotta fight with the terrible controls

I think it's overly hard with terrible controls and unreal hit boxes that's what makes it outright a bad mini game
@@LostSins_ I do agree, this is my first time playing FFX on PS4 as I only ever watched my older brother playing it when I was younger. I managed to get 0.02 earlier only got a turbo ether and then died when I went to go save it 🤦

I've played FFX durinh its first release til i got my 1st job and played it in psvita, bought the greatest hits for nostalgic reason up until now i dont have sun sigil, 200 dodges, dark aeons,ultima weapon, penance. I just finished the game without them whats important for me that time is to have yojimbo, anima and the magus sisters.
Oh don't get me wrong it's definitely not needed you can easily do end game content without tidus and he's ultimate weapon it makes it a bit more challenging but its also more fun in my opinion
@@LostSins_ true bro, i've got all the ultimate weapons the only missing for me is the sun sigil and sigil for lulu. In early 2000's walkthrough booklets is the only available theres no guide for grinding.
@@GojoRamsay888 for lulus 200 lighting dodges there is a spot in the thunder plains where you can control when lighting hits and the 2000s guides was good but they missed out on a lot of cool stuff

The truly obnoxious thing about this mini game is that you can't really tell where tf the birds are going to go. Sometimes they get really close and go right by and other times they'll make a hairpin turn to come after you

The other guide says hold L1+L2+R1+R2 but still the Chocobo losing it's control

It could be worse, this horrible mini game could have been mandatory to unlock the ultimate weapon of the main character of the game

What players must train is how and when to evade the birds, this part is predictable. The rest is luck about ballons distribution. Use the pad instead of the joystick. Birds fly in pairs, two for the trainer and two for the player.
Sometimes we just need to understand our limits. After 3hrs, the best i got was 15secs, just impossible for my skill set
Sometimes not the case take a break get something to eat try again sometimes trying to much won't get you where you want
As a person who has played this game way too many times since it first came out, and as a person who regularly struggles to get below 10 seconds, so much of this game is based on luck.
Skill still plays a factor but it's at least 2/3 luck : 1/3 skill. Playing skilfully will get you in the zone but you need the RNG with the assist if you are gonna get the touchdown and no amount of skill is going to fix bad RNG/bad luck.
Patience and perseverance are the key.

Think of it like a game with a gambling mechanism rather than being purely skill-based. Sort of like Cait Sith's Slots Limit Break; skill & strategy _help_ but ultimately it's down to luck.
If you treat getting good RNG in this mini-game as if it were a random encounter that has a rare drop then it might help you feel less frustration; you still have to encounter the right enemy, you still need to use the right strategy & skills, but ultimately the encounter and the drop are random so it's mostly luck-based. That's what this is, it's just dressed up in a way that makes you think that it's purely a game of skill when it's anything but that.

@@LostSins_ The worst minigame is FFX is the Chocobo race at the Temple. Not having 360° of movement makes getting the achievement for it so unreasonable. Btb. I mean over the 8 directions your capable of moving on a chocobo.
@@SkyeRwby I HATE that race I've only done it once and that is honestly something I will never do again needing to lose a few just to get the other chocobo to take 40 seconds and hope you do it
I think you just got lucky then because i smashed the previous one in less than 10 turns and the race i feel like the bird on my game act different as i get hit no matter if i strafe they strafe with me
This is definitely luck based the birds do follow you and trying to avoid them can be annoying but it's not impossible it's just about trying to figure the best time to move out the way of them

The down side of rng if the rng is bad I suggest closing the game or restarting your console/pc as that can restart the seed

lol your video is completely different from actually happens when you play. I can’t even turn right without it making me turn left. My bird just spazzes out near the clear at the end. Your bird has zero problems just going. Didn’t see any glitching or anything. I’ll get hit by a bird, and have another one fly up and stop right in front of me and wait for me to start moving again so it can hit me.
I’m at the point of giving up on this. I must have put a couple of hours in at least and the lowest I’ve got is 6.2.
The multiple bird strike combos are rage inducing!

I don't think it's due to playstation anlog sticks the mini game itself has alot of different factors to consider I don't think a xbox analog would make a difference but I could be wrong

You say "guide"... but really it's just bird and balloon RNG, because the balloons are randomly placed both in regards to where and how many, and the birds are randomly spread out at weird intervals.
AKA 80% luck. The other 20% is player skill dodging the birds.

After a couple hours I somehow finished with a 32.6, 15 balloons and 0 birds lol fuck this mini game
Did it on my first time with Vita. Now its been over 15 hours trying to get this. Tried the lightning dodgin for 4 hours and got 12 dodges. So I think I'm done at last with this game. Still trying to get those things on this run but no way I'm playing this game after this run. I got 1.9 at this point but at this point of life it feels kind of meaningless, yet I'm still tryin lol.
My friend has had my Vita for almost 2 years so I'm trying to get these done with my PS4.
@@Deadono this is one of the more annoying mini games in this game even the lighting dodging can be controlled in a sense of where it strikes and with a no encounters equipment its alot easier unfortunately for this there isn't a trick to it it's mainly luck and a bit of skill and it's not meaningless just painful when attempting this remember to take breaks and hope for good rng really keep trying you've got this

@@Deadono if you haven't already beaten the boss at baaj temple weapons it drops has no encounters the ghost in cavan of the stolen faith also have a chance to drop them
This and the 5 Chests race make me never want to touch this game again. Whoever made this mini game should be disgusted this themselves.
I kinda agree the 5 chest mini game is so bad but alot nicer then this one believe it or not
