7:56 I was never a firefighter but I was in the military. I miss that feeling- a bunch of trained individuals, in gear, controlling their fear and walking toward the danger.
11:38 cawfee
11:44 I love the green-white-orange FDNY. Slainte!
David Schick thank you for your service brother!
So many probationary firefighters, glad to see how many people want to become FDNY Firefighter, great video! I love pre-arrivals
How can u tell it's a probie? Just curious thanks!
@@zildpais orange frontpiece on the helmet
I noticed all the probies too, lots of new guys assigned to midtown and upper west side companies. Actually the probie helmet front pieces are red, yeah it also says probationary on them as well.
NycFireBuff who are the guys in blue shirt and shorts that seems be helping with random things? Are they firefighters too?
@@gunslinger1824 Yes those are the Engine drivers or "chauffeurs" they stay with the truck.
As a probationary firefighter from Michigan, just seeing this gets me excited. I can’t wait for my first call !! Props to the FDNY !!
Love the "shave and a haircut" on the air horn.
For this bro back lots of memories watching fireman on the back of fire trucks I remember that is a kid great video love the action! Former firefighter Charleston County fire rescue Charleston South Carolina
Good Work by the Members & the video taker . I like your work & thank you for sending us up close pics of the FDNY's work on the street .
a big thanks..honor..and praise for the FDNY
Real Heroes in Action. Thank You.... Stay Safe....
The fun part... packing up.
Well if the used high pressure hoses the job would be easier
oliver sommer ummm how so
oliver sommer no not really.
7:26 to 8:01 gave me goosebumps--this is what firefighters do, these sons of mothers are walking TOWARDS the fire and who knows what else. God Bless!
😀😄😂
Other than the many out of focus shots, being in the thick of the non stop action, kept us glued to our seats. We kept waiting for more action, and the out of focus shots. What an entertaining video.
Looks like 44's Nozzleman was detailed from Engine 154. Pretty cool. Great video.
Great vid. Nice FDNY in the irish tri colours on engine 44 @2.17
World's best@FDNY
Up The Ra , long live Bobby Sands , Francis Hughes and the rest of the 1981 H blocks Hunger Strikers ☘
Another great video!!
@Justin Case Always got to be a dick....congrats.
Great video, hats off to all the guys 👍👍👍
Nice video, that went from looking like nothing showing to a 10/75 pretty quickly.
Good job showing how the “truck” went up to find the fire and that dry line at the door went to work.
What is a 10/75?
@@mrvelleful all hands
Gotta love when they come over the radio and say "10-75 on the box"

Ugh...one thing I hated......humpin hose.....LOL. I bow in respect to you Mr. video guy and to my brothers in FDNY
Love youse FDNY guys!! 😀
Nice work

Nice video perfect timing keep them
Imagine riding on the step of the ladder truck to the scene
Not a ladder, but I've riden the tailboard on engines. Try it in the dead of winter. They don't do it anymore. The last time I did was 1988.
Keep up that good work brothers and sisters stay safe love the video
Nice catch thank you love the action
So cool. Thanks fire fighters.
Quite the hastily response!! Nice footage! 😁👍👍🇺🇸
7:48. One officer and 4 Probies. That has to be a pretty interesting tour for an officer to have all probies with you.
Yes that could be very Stressful if they caught a hairy 1st due Fire . For sure !!
Last summer mid-town was loaded with pumpkin patches, you could not throw a rock and not hit one. In fact the last 5 years so many new guys have moved into Manhatten.
Best fire fighters in the world. God bless from England.
You are absolutely god damm right... Now that we have that out of the way , your country needs to give back the 6 counties in the North of Ireland !!! ☘ Up the Ra
FDNY is technically one of the dumbest.. look at other countries in Europe. They are 100 × more professionel and quicker + they have better equipment
@@sucvizcuvk3526 Yes just like the London Fire Brigades Equipment, no high ladder platform for the Grenfell tower fire. They borrowed one from Surrey. FB.
@@pfsm1238 I would welcome the inbreds getting em back, up the British Army.
great vid brooo
Enjoy the summer now boys, you aren't going to be wearing those shorts come December! Great video as usual. What was up with the auto focus at the beginning? Time for a new camera. I'm going to send you an $8000 Nikon.
Okay, let's get real. The camera focus didn't affect the footage. You could see everything.
Glad the new ff's got experience and that is good. The fact that other countries were complimenting FDNY just shows they are good at what they do. So are many numerous FD's in America. I am from a FD and EMS family and appreciate all the people making these videos. Keep up the great work. Stay safe.
Firefighters are so cool , what a job man
Stay safe FDNY.
Thanks
Nice video
Nice job bro
Lot of pumkin patches out there
Great video.
Nice vid! Do they really use all that hard suction hose in the city? But I love that low hose bed! The bottom of ours is like the top of theirs ha
I am looking this to relax - is this normal?
7:45. Best moment. Beautiful.
Good video
I love it
Look at our streets back then , our streets looked safe thanks to our fire departments and our police men and women. This is what true heroes looks like , they all work together as a well oiled machine. This is what it looks like to work as brothers together , its a family, thank you all for keeping us safe 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
creat work gr rob :)
Seems like every time I watch these I see TL 13. Them boys get jobs
Them boys from ladder 13 saved my life back on 86th st in the 90s...Arson fire 86 & lex at 3am (of course) FOREVER in my heart, Capt Hynes!! God bless them all. 💜
E -58. Whole back step probes. Perfect for a nice 1st due job.
E-44 was 1st due
Yes E44 was first due, but yes E58 had a whole company of pumpkin patches.
Great video....wow lots of probie’s lol
Over the last 2 years you could throw a rock and not hit one.
How do you get so close and what scanner do you use?
Great video Brother! Do all of those kids on the job have to go home before it gets dark? Keep up the good work!
Hahaha , when the street lights come on .. lol
@@pfsm1238 that's when the monsters come out. (ahh, probies)
whats going on with your camera lens?
Was stuck on manual focus for a minute. Fixed it and the rest of the video is clear.
Beautiful 😍😍💓🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲💪🏻💪🏻👈🏻
Surprised to see the amount of suction hose they carry on the engine. Some large dept engines don't even carry suction
Its what they connect to the hydrant @4:20
Incorrect. Very seldom does that happen. Ldh is the common practice. Suction hose is generally only used on a static water supply
Hard suction lines on the engine. Do they actually draft in the big apple?
Yep.
Squads, in case they do need to go find a source.
Jesus FDNY, get some hose baskets/carriers already.
Parking side by side omg.covering fire hydrant
Focus, focus....
What does FAST means for the FDNY?
Firefighter Assist and Search Team. The function known as RIT or Rapid Intervention Team in most parts of the country
Fast doesnt mean smoothly and smooth always means fast
@@mikegaskin5542 now I see wonder what RIT stand for? Thank your an explain. As I attended Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in New York. 👍
@@tuhannguyen5573 RIT stands for Rapid Intervention Team
If a firefighter is trapped a team of 3-6 firefighters will go in. Search for him and get him out and medical attention.
There are lots of new guys around midtown that have only been around 10 years of less.
excellent focus...................
We were having some technical difficulties. Thanks for the feedback.
The guys at @5:58 is that the second precautionary line? I always hear “2 lines stretched, 1 in operation”
Yes you are correct Pat
Most departments always have a least 1 line out ready to back up the 1st line in case it gets damaged or they need another line for the size of the fire.
How much water can the truck hold onbaord? Just curious.
FDNY Engines roll with 500 Gallons of water in the booster tank at all times.
Also depends where you are in the US. We run 1000 gallons on our first dues currently. Our newest piece will carry 750 because we are transitioning to low hose beds.
Depends on your setup. We run one pumper with 300 gallons while there is a pumper/ tanker that carries 1500 gallons typically an engine will carry between 350-500. It depends on where you are and what the needs are in your area
7:26 now that’s a Salty Firefighter if I ever did see one.
Question from an Amateur: It seems counter-intuitive for urban engines to carry four lengths of hard-suction hose. Is this a fallout from 9/11 when the water mains around Ground Zero were destroyed so now the engines are (all?) equipped to draft from a river?
Jim Davenport
Manhattan is an island surrounded by water.
@@machia0705 And being that it's pretty dense city it presumably is fun of fire hydrants? I don't get it but I'm sure there is a good reason behind it.
2 ladders, one engine, one rescue, 3 or 2 battalion cars and an ambulance. (I think)
HG I.A. For this run it should be
4 Engine companies
2 Ladder companies
1 FAST unit
2 Battalion Chiefs
1 Squad company (if available)
1 Rescue company (if available)
1 RAC unit
This would be for a 10-75 transmitted by the first arriving Incident Commander.
Edit: A really good resource if you’re interested is FDnewyork.com. They have really accurate information about FDNY. It’s where I got the info about the 10-76 standard page out.
R`vyn Grega is 100% correct
Tim Burm1 absolutely! Though I believe when they transmit 10-75 or 10-76 it automatically upgrades the unit response. But I could be wrong. This was a year ago and I’m sure it has changed.
I counted 3 aerials on this incident.
@@poppiarlin5612 1 of the ladders are the Fast truck. ( Ladder 26 )
Why use hardline on a hydrant?
Los santos fire dept .. 1:42
Привет братья по оружию)) что за маленький ломик я заметил у товарищя?
ฉันอยากให้ประเทศฉันมีรถดับเพลิงมาตรฐานแบบนี้ จากคนไทย
0:21 Dr. Christopher Turk ???
Will one of you FDNY guys talk about why hard suction is used to connect to the hydrant?
When a water supply system become taxed, the flow pressure from hydrants on that supply grid will decrease. When the flow pressure from hydrants on the taxes grid dips, soft suction or soft supply hose connected to hydrants will collapse. Hard suction prevents collapse of supply hose due to decreased flow pressure from an over taxed water grid.
Ok thanks. I was always taught never to go under 10 psi residual but I guess if you have an overtaxed system then that could be pretty common. It’s almost like it becomes a drafting from a hydrant situation. That’s life in the big city! Lol!
good catch.. but damn probie central. all the new blood coming on the job.
True
I'm a little confused, is it mixed crews from other companies combined?
Mike Ruskowski sometimes if they can’t find anyone from the same firehouse that is available from another shift they’ll bring someone from another station’s off duty personnel. I think the 10 Code would be 10-14 which transmits an emergency signal from additional persons to fill designated positions.
That and firefighters always swap shifts with one another from different companies and fire houses.
The procedures are very different to Germany.
Da lobt man sich doch die Schlaukörbe
Kaczmarczyk Robert in Germany they let the house burn down and then rebuild it into an apartment
Good lord the federal on the first ladder takes forever to wind down lmao
It's not a Mechanical Q siren its Electronic that why it sounds different
All the rigs on FDNY now have the electronic sirens that sound like the old federal Q2B mechanical siren.
@@rah2182 They really don't
@@nightfury8440 Your right they don't
At 12:25, was that fireman practicing the tango?
Thomas he’s dumping water from the hose
How 'bout that? Engine 58's entire shift is probies.
You're right. Engine 58, not Ladder 58.
In my area that may mean 1 of 2 things. Either A. He's a great Captain and they want to train as many under him as they can. or B. He's an awful Captain and no one wants to work with him. Either way that's a lot of extra work on both sides. Haha.
He could be seconded training and has brought the recruits to the fire scene for hands on experience
Beam52
They’re not recruits, they’re already on the job as probationary f/f’ers.
They might have been at some probie training and took in a job.
hey im from the UK how can you tell if they a probies ?
Where is the fire?
@ 12:32 is he checking the hose for breaks?
He's getting all the water out of the hose so they can put it back on the rig
Very nice video plus very bad fire??
Who here likes the movie backdraft I love it
how do they manage accountability? looked like they just entered the structure without any real direction.
That's fdny's aggressive tactics at hand
They definitely k OG what they're are doing
In a large, professional FD in which you know backup is pretty close behind, the initially arriving crews can act knowing that they have chiefs, dedicated RIT, backup crews, etc., showing up within minutes, which allows aggressiveness based on the initial sizeup.
Nice job NYFD guys, much love from Houston Fire.
Electronic EBF 4. Ride list is posted at the beginning of the tour.
Sean O'Brien what about BAECO?
Manhattan always looks like a TV show, perfect mix of ordinary people
Where's the Squad ?
Great...cool
Looks like you wanted to jump on at beginning. Just asking why do NYFD have a blue flasher on rear of rigs.????
FDNY has blue on the back because in New York State that is the only where it is legal to have blue on fire apparatus. Blue and Red and White is typically seen as the best lighting combination (at least where I live) because it offers the best of bright white lighting, the distinctiveness of red, and the visibility of blue. Amber is used on the rear as it is also very eye-catching. Note in America there is little standardization in firefighting. Many places have traditions such as Chicago's FD using green on the right side of their rigs or DCFD using blue on rescues and green on ladders or California's steady burning red light law.
@@nightfury8440
Thank you so much for info
Back when I was really young my parents took me to go see Alice s Restaurant ( the movie)
and I say a New York state PD car with a 174 federal roof becon it was BLUE me being a small child was shocked at the time only over sea's ( British ) PD where the only one I knew had blue. Around my hometown all PD had the early NYPD type becons. CLEAR dooms with red and clear. Then the state Law changed and boy if any other EMERGENCY piece of equipment thought about having blue let's just say the LAW writing by my state was very very clear no 1 and I mean no 1 could have Blue. My state has a very powerful PD lobby in state capital and what PD says PD gets. Anyway no fire no Ambulance no support ( chief's ) cars could have BLUE we did start using a GREEN small flasher on command vehicles to I D the command ( Chiefs ) location on large lots of equipment at scene to show Commands location. I was in Lost wages ( Las Vegas ) and asked a fire crew what the BLUE light was for on there FD Engine and thay just looked at me and laughed did not answer my ????
To make a long story short I always thought that BLUE was only for PD. Again Thank you for explaining.
Just throwing it out there...There are federal standards, but they aren't required, just guidelines. Some states follow them to the T, others do not. Georgia (per Fed I think) LEO blue and/or white only, Fire red and/or white only, EMS any combo of red, white, and blue...and more. The Fed standard is an orange strip al the way around ambulances, I think 12" tall. Construction, Amber or amber/blue lights. Incident command, green light. There are probably more that I have forgot, it's been several (18+?) years. Oh, purple light or flags, funeral.
Green light in canada...Doctor. But they don't get the ROW, nor can they speed.
@@Caderic
Thank you for explaining
In my state the only one that can have BLUE is PD
what's funny is on the water ALL
emergency vessels must have
Blue. RED flashing on water means DANGER or vessels are working with explosive type
Dangerous type weapons.
The NAVY had red flashing lights on there Torpedo test vessels on a test range buy my summer home. Love to watch them all day long do there testing.
@@rp1645 You see the blue light thing in several states. Sometimes it's just state police sometimes it's all LEO.
I didn't know about the boat thing. That is interesting.
Is this midtown ?

Uptown Eastside
Omg. That is. My. School
I live in Europe i would say usa putting firelines like in midleages. Why they dont roll them????its so slow its hard to even watch. Here in eu even in russia you can place kilometers of line in seconds. You just frow the roll and it makes line itself, when job done you take wrench type tool and make rolll again after fire
10-75?
Why don’t they buckle the bottom belts on there packs?
Its a personal choice.
I never do
Can't be cool if it's on
much respect but hard to see all those SCBA waist belts unbuckled.
Hi all
The fireman’s hat seems to have two pieces of wood. What is the role?
扇子协会会长 When you‘re searching a building that is full of smoke you don‘t want any doors to close behind you. With the wood they prohibit doors from closing behind them.
@@henningquast8456 very good !👍
They're wedge shaped. I used to do that too. I used them when I forced window screens off to allow easier access for your tool.
"Pre arrival"? How can they get there before they get there?
Monitoring public scanner feeds online via phone apps or personal programmed handheld scanners, just like the news media, fire service enthusiasts, general photographers, etc.
Right place & right time also helps.
All Our Fire Trucks Here In Florida Not 1 Has A Blue Light On It. Blue Is For Police Only Here. Security Companys Cant Even Use Blue Lights. I Have Fire Truck Ambulance And Police Car Videos too On My Channel
why is everything being done so slowly?)
No running on emergency scenes, it is unsafe. Sometimes it happens, but ideally it does not.
@@sunsetrider45 thanks for the answer
why didnt not try carrying baskets with C-tubes? This is much faster and easier.Take a look in Germany.
It is difficult in USA
It really isn't much more difficult
I'm still wondering why it's not "NYFD" but instead "FDNY"
