This was really smart on Jesse’s part. He realized Walter had lost all humanity and he needed to roll with his lies to avoid being killed as well. He knew Mike was dead but pretended to act manipulated.

I feel like Jesse had one of the saddest story's of all the BB characters. From a kid who wanted nothing but a good time and some cash a few years later he's a wanted king pen with server PTSD and true pain. We have watched Jesse's soul darken and twist to the point of no return. But in Elcamino we see that he truly if a good guy not wanting to hurt or kill anyone unnecessarily.

The character development here in jesse is very subtle but brilliant. He ends the conversation with “so he’s out there?” And looked away so Walt couldn’t see his face. He knew Walt was lying, but this time instead of acting in the moment and not thinking, like he had a habit of doing the whole show, he held himself together, and just went along with it, he let Walt believe that he fooled him. No need telling Walt he knows, younger jesse would definitely gone apeshit here and not thought about anything

It shows a man who is a complete and utter deadbeat, no life loser who spends his remaining years having no limits and finally coming out of his shell to become something extraordinary. Walt kept going harder and harder each season. People say his turning point was letting Jane die but for me the moment I realized how hard he had gotten was when he ran over the dealers and executed the one with a shot to the head
I the thing that gave it away is.. 1. Walt is way too confident instead of scared. 2. Mike would've killed Walt without warning and Jesse would of found out after the deed was done. 3. Jesse knows Mike and knows how much he wanted to off Walt over his petty ego and knows Walt fears Mike and uses Jesse as a shield from him.
Jesse showed pretty solid deductive reasoning. He had a similar show of critical thinking with mike after they returned jesses money after it had been stolen.
"I need you to believe this" bruh I have been told this before while the other person was lying to my face and i knew it, poor Jesse , seems appropriate that Walter would say something like this
"It's either that, it's either that or you'll kill me the same way you killed Mike!" Poor Jesse got the short end of the stick and was treated like sh*t throughout the entire series. No other character suffered the way that Jesse did. No other character grew and developed as much as Jesse did. God bless him! 💔
