I feel like Jesse had one of the saddest story's of all the BB characters. From a kid who wanted nothing but a good time and some cash a few years later he's a wanted king pen with server PTSD and true pain. We have watched Jesse's soul darken and twist to the point of no return. But in Elcamino we see that he truly if a good guy not wanting to hurt or kill anyone unnecessarily.
Walt didn't even have to do it. After he shot Mike he realized he didn't even have to because the problem essentially solved itself. by then Mike didn't give a shit anyways
The character development here in jesse is very subtle but brilliant. He ends the conversation with “so he’s out there?” And looked away so Walt couldn’t see his face. He knew Walt was lying, but this time instead of acting in the moment and not thinking, like he had a habit of doing the whole show, he held himself together, and just went along with it, he let Walt believe that he fooled him. No need telling Walt he knows, younger jesse would definitely gone apeshit here and not thought about anything

Jesse showed pretty solid deductive reasoning. He had a similar show of critical thinking with mike after they returned jesses money after it had been stolen.
