It might well be coming very soon. I doubt Dave was aware of the changes made to the 1099-K for the '23 tax year and it's almost certainly coming his way, if it hasn't already. In short, it used to be PayPal were obligated to inform the IRS when a customer received more than $20k in funds. For the 2023 tax year, that reporting threshold was dropped to just $600.
@IAmPez IRS is delaying implementing that level until 2025. It's $5,000 this year, and they kept the $20,000 rule for 2023.
It shouldn't matter, since the amount of tips was over $20,000 and there were over 200 transactions.
