Funny BS review :
Walmart seems to have a reviewer program where individuals get free products in return for leaving a review on the walmart product page. The bs review of the day is probably one of the best that i have ever seen and when I say best I mean worst.
3 star review :
Title : Great for quick cooking on short trips
My immediate first impression is that this stove is definitely ultra lightweight and small for backpacking. It's small enough to fit into the palm of an adult hand. It feels sturdy and well made. The upper portion is big enough for a small pot.
It's easy to use. You push the black button/pin to ignite the fire. There is a handle on the opposite side of the igniter that you can use to control the intensity of the fire. (ie high, med, low)
The box included instructions and a small carry bag for the stove as well. I could see us using this for a one day fishing trip or to roast marshmallows during a short outing away from home.
A huge draw back for longer trips is that a propane/butane canister is needed to use this stove. Thus the 3 star rating. I think that a stove that can be used with wood/straw/leaves/etc is more practical for longer camping/backpacking trips.
Walmart, get your money/product back from this guy. He screwed you.
Want another crap review? This one is awesome...awesome as in absolutely stupid;

Title : Hate that it's propane operated
Super cute and useful . My family are huge fans of the tv series naked and afraid. We often play in our backyard and local park and pretend that we're in the wilderness and having to try and survive off little to nothing. This little miniature stove definitely adds some excitement to our adventure. I hate that it's propane operated because I literally hate the smell and it makes me sick but I will survive. I recommend this to anyone that loves the outdoors, this will definitely help you enjoy your time out even more

Flasher to judge: I was just playing "Naked and Afraid" at the park, your honor...
Yeah about that, I've seen a few episodes, but never one with a gas stove... the person who made the review is probably some kind of liberal nut. And I can fully imagine them actually taking their clothes off in a public park and using this thing. People like this don't need to be writing reviews. I'm surprised they didn't give a review about the carbon footprint, and how evil oil corporations are. Or how their chocolate milk was inhumane to the cow but they boiled it anyway in an attempt to make hot chocolate. Complete morons
@@captainfragger6295 And I can't believe they still let Trump loving nuts like you post on platforms that are supposed to be for everyone, not just people who think the same. Undoubtedly you can't see beyond your own nose anyhow so any further insights are wasted.
For me boiling speed is one of the least important aspects of a stove. Wind resistance, simmering ability, reliably and fuel consumption are more important, at least for me.
Exactly, boiling speed is just fine if you're making a cup of coffee. But if you're cooking something you want to have a flame you can regulate. I have an old Coleman stove. And it's crazy to use. It's either on or off or too high. There is no turning it down past a pretty heavy flow.
My two favorite stoves are the Soto Windmaster and the Kovea Spider. The Windmaster for backpacking and the Spider for combined backpacking/car camping. With the Kovea adaptor the Spider can be used with the large, heavy and relatively cheap propane cylinders in the campground. And propane works way better when it gets colder.
You realise boiling speed is affected directly or indirectly by each of your ‘important aspects’?
I have been backpacking for 50 years using white gas, canister, and alcohol stoves and yes I do realize that. I was simply stating my opinion on boil time. But let me say in the language of my Irish grandfather “Pog mo thoin” which means thanks for your incitefull comment in the Irish language.
@@browsman2328 I very proud of you.
I have used a cut down wool sock with a Hot Hands packet to keep the fuel canister warm in really cold (winter) weather. Works pretty good.
Good idea. Thanks
Nice. I like the Lithic's larger burner as well as the igniter. I love the Amazon one-star reviews, "The box was smashed."
Some people who leave one star reviews on Amazon crack me up. I've seen products that will say how many pieces are included in the title as well as about 20 more times in the description. Then their will be a 1 star saying "I thought I was going to get more/less"
Nice video!
I’ve started wrapping isobutane canisters with a strip of reflectix connected with gorilla tape... basically a coffee cup sleeve for your fuel can. Run the can dry, slide it off and onto the new can, and it solves the cold weather issue (and adds almost no weight to your kit).
I've got this little primus titanium stove that weighs like 2 point something ounce (no built in igniter, which I prefer since I carry lighters/matches anyway). Found it at Sierra trading post like 7 years ago for $12. We've used it every year for our late season packing/camping adventures. No issues. Proof that light camp stoves don't have to cost $50.
I have the whisper lite MSR I bought in like 2007 and I've cooked fried potatoes and deer meat with the same size fuel can you used in this video and then went on other on the river kayaking camping trips with the same can of fuel and didn't run out. I'd have to say that you get quite a bit of cook time, more than you would think . I was always impressed how many times I cooked actual meal's on this stove and not just boil water for dehydrated meals and for coffee. For 21 dollars I'd guinea pig that stove, looked fine. Probably just built in China and I'm not a fan of supporting that, but I can't prove my MSR was really built in Seattle either
Thanks for the reviews. Your views seem to be honest and fair. I have watched several of your reviews. Enjoy watching your camping setup. Thanks again.
OMG! Those reviews were hilarious. I like how you gave the Lithic a fair test vs the pocket rocket. Time and continued use will determine how the Lithic brand will survive or fade away. MSR products are purchased regularly due to success of continued use with little to no faults or cons.
Man I love the back ground view~! The trail looks awesome. Good review also.
This may be a good entry level stove. It’s a great price point for someone who wants to see if lightweight backpacking or camping is for them.
Lithic: Under promise, over deliver! I'm gonna buy that stove!
It looked to perform pretty well there, and the push button ignition is a bonus.
Thanks for posting.
Luke, you have the best product review on YT, period. Respect the honesty brada. You the REAL man.
I am obsessed with your videos. No bullshit anywhere. And it's just helpful information. I've gotten a lot of good gear ideas from your recommendations. Thanks, brother.
Thanks Luke always informative, thanks again buddy!
i am glad you are reviewing the lithic stove,,,heard alot about it,, thank you Luke
Great review. Even better review of the reviews!! 😂 I’m still laughing. Thanks.
Thx Luke, again. Quick & straight forward as usual! Say what you want but the price is right!
Good review but I’ll stick with my cheap ultra small BSR stove, $15 ,three years and still cooking
Plus one on the BRS. I love mine.
@@andrewtimms7205 What does it cost/weigh, though?
@@andrewtimms7205 Yeah, that's the real draw to the brs... Less than half the cost, and a little over 1/3 the weight of the amicus.... And still decently tough/fast...
Plus, the size! I LOVE that I can pack it into whatever tiny little crevice of space I have left in my minimalist cooksets.
Do you means BRS?
I would be interested to know what the fuel usage was for each. if one is more efficient, that could be meaningful. the $20 price tag is pretty appealing and could offset certain drawbacks
I was just about to write the same thing. It appeared on the side by side shot that the Lithic had a lot more flame.
Yup, agreed. That's one potential differentiator, efficiency. If they both boil water in the same amount of time, but one uses twice as much fuel, that's a big deal. Easy to test with a kitchen scale.
If it boiled the same amount of water in the same time, it used the same amount of energy.
@@h4l414 Not if it used double the amount of fuel....
@@h4l414 It means that the water absorbed the same amount of energy. But the efficiency would be how much of the stove's energy output actually made it into the water.
Your absolutely right those two reviews were hysterical!!!!!! It makes me wonder if there's intelligent life on this planet!!!!
I'm very appreciate for showing the parameters on the screen, and in dual units (in those strange and in proper ones)!
Possibly would buy after the full review. Keep up the great reviews.
Great test . Looking forward to how it stacks up ...
Good demo, I have the PR2 and its such a reliable stove that I think it’s worth the extra money.
It's always nice to see good gear at reasonable prices.
Those reviews at the end were hilarious 😂
You need to try this with a larger pot. You had flames shooting out the side of the small pot you were using. The Walmart stove has a very large flame base compared to the Pocket Rocket Deluxe and is designed to work with a wider pot. It's designed more for actual cooking whereas the small flame base of the Pocket Rocket Deluxe is more of just a boiler to use with freeze dried meals.
I had a nice hike this weekend. I parked at Elk Garden, hiked past Thomas Knob to the end of the ridge, then back to Whitetop Mountain, then a short hike back to the car. It is a very scenic place to hike and it was good sleeping weather at night.
It will be interesting to see how this does perform over time as it seems pretty good. I’d buy it!
Definitely will be waiting for the review video to see if it would be worth purchasing, or if it would be worth spending extra on something more reliable. In either case, a great first look at this product. The igniter is definitely a plus! Thanks for your vids!
A good factor is to see how long it lasts. A lot of times it is still doing well out of the box but might not last after 4 or 5 uses as the heat might be too much for the cheap parts.
Stove reliability & safety are more impt than speed. Tks!, Luke.
For $20 I'd give it a try. I'd like to see the long term review. Thanks, Luke.
I was given a Snowpeak stove as a gift a few years ago and it’s still performing well. It seems the same as this stove.
Interesting little stove. I've only used a Vargo Decagon alcohol stove in the past, but something powerful like this stove is making me rethink the Vargo.
Great vid, fuel consumption comparison would be awesome too!
Great first look! I'm not sure of the name of the small burner I picked up at a yard sale, I may edit this comment when I get home and see which one it is, but I love the lightweight, the belt carrying case and the $5 I paid.
Those reviews were awesome, LOL!!!
That was a good laugh thanks for that the reviews was funny
The review are hilarious, read more of these, it’s awesome.
Just subscribed....not so much for the information but for anothers point of view
I really like your videos. Thank you...
Never tried the Lithic brand, seems like it performed well. Thanks and take care.
Time to boil is dependent several things- altitude, temperature of the water, etc. the fact that all your variables are the same make for a good comparison between the two. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Luke hope y'all are well much love your way be safe have a wonderful day
I've heard from people that use those canisters when it's cold like that you have to keep it in your shirt to get it warmed up before you use it
Great video keep it up bless on your family
I have been doing it for years, never had a problem.
cant wait for the fjallraven view 2 tent review !
Love those reviews 🤣
I’m going camping next week for a whole week might get one for my tea in the morning
Good review.
I think the cold weather issues are due to the fuel type and not the stove. I hope you get a chance to test the stove in cold weather with a cold weather fuel mixture against the Pocket Rocket. FYI: I still own the very first edition of the pocket rocket when it was released, and I've had trouble using it in freezing temperatures too. I now use a cold weather stove for the winter months.
I'm impressed with both of these products
Awesome agenda free review.
Thank you for the video.
21 usd??? I bought the exact same one from alieexpress, including free shipping to europe for....... EIGHT dollars.... just didnt say lithic on it. It performs great, but the profit by walmart is enormous
Great vid. Thanks for sharing the comments, that was hilarious.
I am curious how different the fuel consumption is. If you repeat this test, weigh the canisters to compare consumption.
This is a comparison; I've been wanting to see
Hey Luke! Thanks for all your great content! Asking here because you stated in the IBNS video comments that you couldn't comment under it, but did you ever do a review of the Wolverine rainfly for the IBNS? You're pretty thorough, so I'd love to know your thoughts. Thanks for your service!
I'm intrigued
A new stove thats peeked my interest is the Camp Chef Dual Fuel stove. Its like a larger less expensive version of a Jet Boil. It comes with an adapter so it will run on green 1lb propane canisters as well as isobutane. This would eliminate the cool weather burn issues from isobutane. Honestly that's the most intriguingly interesting part of this new stove to me the adapter to use propane. Makes me wonder if it could be used with other stoves. I know some caution would be needed to do this as the higher BTU of the propane could melt components of some stoves. Still interesting.
Follow up to the cooler weather troubles. Thoughts on using the little hand warmer packets on the bottom of the gas to help keep it flowing? Too much heat or a good idea?
The burner sizes make a huge difference. You can clearly see the size difference. When you started the Lithic it was like a jet engine. My guess is the amount of gas used is higher for the lithic vs the rocket.
Only Luke can make camping stoves interesting 😃👍
I have the Pocket Rocket and I love it. Light and boils water fast.
It seemed to me like the Lithic stove might be a little bit better made and feasible. With the igniter you don't have have a fire source already in order to use it.
I’ll be picking one of these little gems up. For $21, one cannot go wrong.
Hi Luke. I am from Germany and I found your channel on CZcams. Saw a couple of videos and they are absolutely amazing and entertaining. You are a lucky guy. I wish I could do what you do. But unfortunately in Germany it is forbidden to camp somewhere in the forest or almost anywhere else. Anyway I can watch your videos ;)
The reviews from walmart were freaking funny! LOL
I bought my original pocket rocket 1 around 20 years ago. Still going strong. Best 2004 $40 I ever spent.
I’d love to see a review on Jeeps brand of tents. I found one years back and I still use it today. Just wanted your thoughts.
Great video, it would have been nice to weigh the fuel canisters before and after to see how much fuel they used.
Seems to work well and a good price. One thing I would consider is what sort of hike, e.g. if going remote for a 2/3 night hike I’d want to have confidence my gear worked. MSR gear & similar quality have been well proven and you should be able to rely on it. My concern would be the likelihood of it failing? Only time will tell. Thanks for all your good interesting channel 😊👍
Real good. Boiled water as fast as PR!! When in a lurch, if im near Walmart ill buy it to complete my thru hike.
I got the Coleman version they had last year, it works good
I've been using the MSR Pocket Rocket for about ~8 years and it's been great. Also have a super cheap, small, lightweight stove from amazon (BRS 3000T) just for backup (and for fun). I've been getting curious about the MSR WhisperLite and Dragonfly type stoves (with fuel bottle) - saw a couple using what looked like the WhisperLite stove on a 4 day trip my wife and I just got back from. Just wondering what your view is on these types on stoves and the pros/cons of these? Not sure if you've ever done a comparison of these two types of stoves (fuel canister/fuel bottle types), but would be great if you did! Thanks Luke!
I would like to see the comparison of the two for amount of fuel used and how do they stack up as far as wind,
I have the pocket rocket deluxe and really like it's performance. Hasn't failed me yet. However if I was just starting out. The price point of the lithic is impressive. We all know that backpacking isn't cheap.
Would like to test one out.
I am using some cheap BSR stove from China off of Amazon, under one oz. 17 dollars. I have always used MSR stoves but I wanted super light. In the summer I use another cheap super light stove that runs on alcohol. I like the alcohol stove because it makes no noise and I always know exactly how much fuel I have. Back in the day my stove was a MSR multi fuel, great stove but heavy. Now I am old so I have to go light, its not an option. Great video, thanks
I would be surprised if there was a major difference between them.... I think it is more about the canister and fuel than the stove itself and as some already mentioned, fuel consumption would be interesting to know. Durability will be other factor, where I expect MSR to be better.
Interesting, wonder how it stacks up against the Coleman on that some Walmarts still carry for the same price.
Would love to see video on Coleman stove petrol pros and cons etc.
If you had to warm the fuel canister for the fuel to vaporize, how are attributing that to a stove issue and not a fuel canister isue?
Exactly, and if that's an issue all you have to do is keep it in your pocket or next your body until you're ready to screw it on and use it
He said some stoves perform better than others when the fuel canisters are cold.
@@don.brasco People that pack pack in cold conditions (high altitude/ cold place or season) KNOW that fuel type is a problem. As canister of "fuel" are of different compositions of gas to try to minimize this problem, all for a higher price, of course. However this discussion belongs somewhere else as he used the same canister of fuel for his test. before and after weights might have been of use though. . .
Qualicum Wilson yes I’m aware, and so was Luke, but his point was that he has had the experience that some stoves will work better that others when the tank is cold.
Most stoves of this type function properly at much lower temps. But it is a known limitation og gas-fueled stoves.
I've got 2 different stoves like the lithic... they both worked well for me I paid 15 for one and 18 for the other.
Good video Luke, the stove looks interesting for the price. I’d love to see the two stoves go up against each other on a cold day if you can make that happen.
Why bother just stick them in the freezer for an hour
captain fragger or that
I've got msr pocket rocket and I'm happy with that. Not to expensive, worth money compare to compact and weight. Working really well. You can see quality of that product. I never choosed one with ignition because I always though can be broken.(but It's me). Only one think I would change it's the red box. I would add some proper lock, not just hope will not open. I using rubber band.Greetings, Tom.
My old man has had a pocket rocket for a very long time and it gets used all the time, with living in the UK 🇬🇧 it's usually cold so he uses a cold weather mix gas which works great.
Good comparison of both stoves , price advantage may sway people towards the lithic
I haven't used that lithic, but one issue I had with what is probably the same thing with a different branding, is the low flame was MUCH less stable and likely to blow out, whereas my clone of the MSR could go right down to maintain a low simmer and be stable - unscrew the top and combine the ignitor plus base with the MSR top, and it'd be great.
Luke... were you able to get it to work with non iso butane cannisters? I got it to work with a Jetboil iso butane/propane canister, but not with a Coleman that was butane/propane mix.
OK, so I would expect all stoves to ignite 100% of the gas coming out of a canister. Which means the amount of heat created and therefore time taken to heat X water will depend on the amount of gas coming out. Same gas = same heat. Might be some variation in the design of the top but basically the same no? What you're paying for, in theory, with high end stoves is the build quality and reliability I'd guess.
FYI I found out recently that the Coleman canisters are not compatible with many stoves. Particularly not Olicamp. My fault for assuming but I got stuck out on the trail with a stove that couldn’t fully crank down on the canister to release the gas. Fortunately I always carry some Esbit cubes and I was able to eat hot food. But another lesson learned: test your gear before you hit the trail!!
hilarious reviews you should test them to see how much gas each one uses.
So Luke, have you done any additional testing of this stove? How does it perform in cooler/colder temps? More efficient or less than the MSR? Performance in windy conditions? Taking a serious look at this stove but would like to see any additional info you may have come by thru testing. Thanks.
Thanks
Those comments you read were awesome 😂
good video, I have a $10.00 pocket stove from china I am amazed at how well and reliable it is.
I have a feeling this would a good extra stove, and not the primary.
