Robin Trower "Bridge of Sighs" is a one of the greatest records ever recorded imo James Dewar playing bass & on vocals freaking killed it on this album
Every song on Bridge of Sighs is a classic...start to finish
Robin Trower is somewhat a bit of a hidden gem. If you know about his music, you should love it. He has been around for years. This song here is from 1974. He is a great guitarist and is another one that you can tell it's him playing a mile away!
He was a member of Procol Harum (A Whiter Shade Of Pale) and I seem to recall reading many many years ago that he was in a hotel room somewhere when he heard the news that Jimi Hendrix had died. He made a conscious decision there and then to try and emulate (not copy), Jimi's style of playing and I think that he has done a bloody good job!
The bass and vocals are James Dewar who is sadly no longer with us.
Robin is due to release his new album Joyful Sky very soon.
And yes, I had a couple of Robin Trower videos earmarked to send. 😁
Take care everyone.
Regards to all.
😊😎🎸🇬🇧🇺🇦
Great suggestion Brandon, thank you! 😁
The smile on your face says it all. Great music!
@PERK'S reCAP, I'm a fan of Robin's playing and music for over 55 years, starting with his time with Procol Harum. When he went solo in 1973 I would say that NOTHING prepared me/us for what he actually gave us. I REALLY enjoyed your review, so I'm glad you have discovered him now!!! He played a quite superlative concert here in London on 28May24, only spoiled by pretty poor audio for his vocalist. RT is 79 now, btw. He has a truly WONDERFUL catalogue of music [let alone YT live recordings] and, if I'm honest, I find it easier to select the rare songs I DON'T like than the ones I do: btw2, my YT handle is the title track from his NEXT album, stunning piece of music. He is ALL about tone and feel, for me he has no equal in those plus the psychedelic sound he gets: if you don't get it you won't get it. czcams.com/video/P9RhE0U1xAU/video.html
He could out Hendrix, Hendrix. Dewar on bass inspired me keep playing.
😅 You’re Welcome!
Frankly, I did not know that Robin Trower did not do the singing. 😮
Another great guitarist that is not as well known compared to the other two that I suggested in Santana & Jeff Beck. I’m sure he’ll check out some of his clips on whatever music service that you are with. He’s got some other great hits as well.
He's from Procol Harum
He channels jimi hendrix at times....... bridge of sighs in my teens must have been 40+ years ago is where I first heard this band.
Really surprised you haven't heard of Robin Trower, being the huge Guitar fan that you are. Robin is a "Master Of The Stratocaster", and he has been around for about 50 years. This album is all beef, no filler. Heavy Blues influence with Mr. Trower, many do compare him to Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Beck. Robin does not sing, that's James Dewar, his Bass player. "Bridge Of Sighs" and "Day Of The Eagle' are also great songs from this album. Just a three man band. I forget the Drummers name.
Reg Isidore on Drums, Thanks.
I am guessing that you have heard some Robin Trower before but didn't know the artist. "Day of the Eagle" got a ton of airplay on classic rock radio. I haven't made a suggestion in a little while so here is a less known Robin Trower track for you to check out, it's called "Little Bit of Sympathy".
Glad you loved it Perk (: Next Up?!! >>> Bridge of Sighs (Same Album) then >>> Somebody's Calling >>> In City Dreams >>>
Then.. >>> Smile
I used to use "caravan to midnight" to test out car audio installation for customer cars back in the day. If they didn't puke out on that, I figured they would survive anything the customer was going to do.
Correct pronunciation. You don't know him yet? I'm watching now
