All of these advancements feel geared towards core gamers. No more dramatic gimmicks. Sounds good to me.

Seems to good to be true. They also didn’t bother to really go on specs. A lot of this are things that we already knew. Like backwards compatibility, usb c port, lcd display. The only new information is 1080p display and magnet connection joycons.
@@ZackSNetwork if they dont want another marketing disaster like the wii u, theyll have to improve the specs anyways to impress everyone and have them know this is different from the first switch.

6:10 I don't think it's going to be a third shoulder button, but more of a backside button, like on the Steam Deck or various other "Pro" controllers.

This is all wonderful news, and I'll definitely be there for the new system day 1, but i really hope this new "3rd button" below the triggers isnt some kind of back button or paddle. I hate how those feel
Also the fact that we are seeing the words attached in these reports...I'm starting to feel like ahhh crap, Switch Attach is the name after all. I can see Nintendo talking about their ideas for the new system and someone said we need to make it attach better....AHHHH HAAA, there's the name, Switch Attach! lol
Part of me wonders if the initial leak (the CZcams poll- let’s just assume it was a leak for speculative purposes) was off base, and the new machine will simply be called the Attach. as a follow up console name, it still FEELS in the family of ‘Switch’ and would effectively communicate that the thing is brand new, whereas keeping the Switch name may be the source of confusion.
We’ll see though! Mostly I’m speculating based on the fact the the Wii name did NOT carry success over to the Wii U by name alone, but it’s also true that they had their variants on ‘Gameboy’ and ‘DS’ and it worked out.

The additional buttons will most likely be like the ones on the lower half of the back joy cons, not really on the shoulder, like the pro controller by Xbox. How about the name for Switch 2 being "Switch Click" because it clicks in to place with the magnets pulling in the controller and then clicking it in. Sounds better than attach. Or even better the Nintendo Snap, snap it on
4K mostly is good for third party games. So we might be able now to maybe get games same time as ps5 and Xbox sweet
People keep talking like 4K is the norm but the vast majority of games are still 1080p or lower
To the point of the metallic SL/SR buttons adding a ‘deluxe’ feel: I remember an interview a long time ago, I think with Miyamoto, saying that in designing the first 3DS, they went for its shiny, flashy look because they needed something that told the consumer ‘this is new and exciting’ from a visual standpoint.
Even combining these rumors, there’s a LOT of room for imagination yet for how this thing will look and feel. I’m especially curious to see what the function of the new buttons will be. It doesn’t make much sense to arbitrarily add a third set of triggers, so I’m curious to see what new inputs they offer that make unique gameplay possible.
I want to see a camera and a mic added to the Switch 2. The last gaming console Nintendo made that has a camera and a mic was the Wii U.
They didn't really allow for any gameplay that was any better than current input methods imo
And they'd just drive up price more by including them. I'm personally glad we're done with cameras and mics

That’s a waste of money that could go to other better aspects. Like more storage or even a better display. Consoles always have garbage cameras and never utilize them well.

My biggest wish for a feature comeback is a speaker, a la the Wii Remote! The use of the Dualsense controller’s speakers in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth reminded me that this was a really fun feature Nintendo should jump on again.
I like that the current joycons might be used on the switch 2 because I use a joycon attachment that helps me play games, I only have one functioning hand, and I use something called a squidcon to play games on my switch (look it up it really helps one handed players)
Now this is some interesting information. I'm really hoping for backwards compatibility being true.

It is Golden Week in Japan so if we do get an official word soon, it’s my guess that it won’t be until May 6 or 7. With all these leaks starting to pour out Nintendo will have to give some official word soon.

The new button below the home button, I feel like it will be an Account button. Takes you to your account/profile where your subscription is. Maybe it also is an NSO button, no longer is NSO an app you download from the E-Shop but it's just there from the get go and you push the button to switch to it.

Did they really need to say Switch 2 games wont work on Switch 1 lol. No duh. Wii played Gamecube games, but you couldn't have your Gamecube play Wii games. Wii U could play Wii games, but Wii didn't play Wii U games. Backwards compatibility is bringing the old forward, not bringing the new backwards lol.

Love the idea of additional back buttons, similar to Steam Deck and more pro-orientated controllers. However, my main wish control-wise is ZR/ZL triggers with actual travel this time. I don't understand why Nintendo seem to hate real triggers, the only console to have them was the GameCube lol. Whether it's traditional analog, the newer magnetic impulse style, or even DualSesnse style resistance feedback triggers, I want some travel! It also helps ensure driving games and shooters play well on the device. Fingers crossed they do it! Either way, it's exciting to see some leaks about the actual device itself.
I think the biggest hurdle the Switch 2 has to overcome is that while no doubt these will be welcome and exciting additions for Nintendo fans and core gamers, I think recapturing its casual players is gonna be pretty difficult
It makes me wonder if my online digital purchased games and account can be moved to the newer console cause I'd really hate to buy the games again as switch cartridges

I'm not convinced they don't have some new wacky gimmick lined up, because it makes business sense. After all, the last truly successful gimmickless home console from Nintendo is the SNES and that released a year before I was born. The N64 and GC (despite having good hardware and many great games) just didn't sell brilliantly, and what kept Nintendo afloat is A) the fact that they always sold their hardware at a profit (until the Wii U at least) and B) the Game Boy families selling gangbusters. I'm concerned this could be the next Wii U. Sure, "the Wii U didn't have games", but leakers are literally claiming that the reason they are delaying the Switch 2 is that the software (apparently Mario Kart?) isn't ready, and since we recently got both SMBWonder and TOTK, next-gen Mario and Zelda feel far away, possibly too far away. Couple this with diminishing returns from graphical improvements and possibly 160+ million used Switches to compete with (not to mention the Steam Deck and rumored next gen portable PlayStation thing), I can't help but feel this thing needs some kind of Iwata-esque je ne sais quoi or it might just flop with the casual crowd. Or maybe it won't, who knows.
I wouldn't worry about Next Gen Mario. The 3d Mario team is separate from the team that makes 2d Mario, and the 3d team hasn't released a game since Bowser's Fury. Since that game was almost like a testing ground for new ideas, they could easily have a game ready when the next system launches. I honestly can't wait to see what they have for us.
As the post with all the Switch 2 information was edited I assume that it's because Nintendo will announce it on May 7th as their investor meeting takes place then and that the information was supposed to be posted after that and that someone at that company got a little to trigger happy and then had to retract the post to just questions. So I think we are really close to an announcement or at least confirmation of the console existence from Nintendo.

I hope this thing is a 2025 release, I just want to take it easy and not focus on the new Switch, I'd rather focus on Fortnite and Grand Theft Auto 6 for the time being and wait patiently for the Zelda Twilight Princess/Wind Waker HD bundle, Luigi's Mansion GameCube Switch port, GameCube on Switch Online (for games like Double Dash, Party 4-7, Mario Golf, Melee, Donkey Konga/Jungle Beat, Wario World & Animal Crossing)
I'm glad it's a slow year for Nintendo
I am extremely excited for this and very hopeful for May 7.
