- Shenandoah National Park in Virginia is only 75 miles west of Washington, D.C. The fall colors are epic, but I learned summer is also a great time to visit. I hiked four different trails, saw more than a dozen waterfalls, and camped in the back of my VW Passat for only $20/night.

👋🏼 About me...
Hey there! I'm Kevin Lewis, a TV news reporter at ABC7 in Washington, D.C.
I launched this travel journalism CZcams channel in 2021, with the goal of sharing stories that unite and uplift society. Lord knows there is way too much of the opposite these days.
My videos focus on national parks, state parks, small and mid-sized cities, and the interesting people I meet along the way! 🎥 🚐 I hope you'll subscribe to my channel to learn more about this world we all call home.
Are you going to school for news broadcasting? This video is spectacularly amazing with excellent B roll. That B roll, the voiceover at exact moments and the transitions and flow just remind me of a more perfected 10 min clip from a prime time news show.
Edit: Made the above comment before seeing in a video about SW stranding you and editing the news 7 footage and knowing you ACTUALLY are/were a news reporter.
Thanks for the kind comment, Michael! My goal is to produce travel videos that are more journalism based when compared with your typical CZcams travel influencer. I'm currently in Puerto Rico filming as much of the island as possible. I'll start to post the PR videos in a week or two.
Very good
Very informative, thank you.
I'm glad it helped! If you subscribe to my channel, you'll get notifications when I publish future videos.
Very well-done and informative! I learned more about the park watching this video than I would have in watching a whole series of other videos.
Wow! What a wonderful compliment, Elizabeth. Thank you! My goal is to produce one video a month on various cities and national parks. Feel free to subscribe to the channel :)
You're a natural, well done. But those little falls weren't on White Oak, those were on Cedar Run.
Great video Bro, my wife and I plan on ride the Skyline this weekend and your video has helped me the most thank you.
That's the best type of comment I could ask for! I'm glad the video helped you plan your trip down Skyline Drive. It's beautiful out there this time of the year 🍂
❤ great job. I’m really motivated to go there now. Thank you.
It's a fantastic national park. I'm glad the video motivated you to plan a trip. Just remember it's typically chillier in the park compared with DC as it's high up. Late April or early May would likely be solid spring weather.
Great video!
I appreciate it, Stephanie. You should try to make a trip to Shenandoah this month. The fall colors are spectacular.
@@KevinAcrossAmerica did just that! Such a gorgeous weekend to be up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia!
@@stephaniepalmer3302 So happy to hear you made the trip and loved your time in SNP! I'm planning to film my next episode in Roanoke over Halloween weekend. Hopefully I hit the fall colors there just right.
Always a great sample of although the years go by and the technology to the human being, always needs to connect with nature, thank you for sharing this definitely a destination on my list.
Would you recommend coming here in the middle of November? Thank you!
Hi Tyler! The fall is one of the best times to visit Shenandoah as the changing leaves are beautiful to take in. That being said, mid-to-late October is typically peak leaf colors. My concern is that by mid-November, the vast majority of the colors will be gone. It'll also be fairly cold. Not tundra cold, but very chilly as the park is at elevation. So, to answer your question, if mid-November is the only time you can visit Shenandoah, keep that plan in place. But, if you can move your trip up to October, you'll enjoy it much more.
Black Bears???? Oh no
Black bears are all fun and games until you inadvertantly get close to a cub/s.
