I’ve watched this legit 15 times and it makes me wanna go back with my group more and more
7:25 pitch black, starting to rain, hours from home in the wilderness after walking for miles
"this plant down here is an edible wild plant"
LOL! I can't believe Robby never had an olive! I think of Robby as the gourmet! Andrew is of course the botanist and Bryan is the pragmatist. Thanks for your amazing cinematography!
Haha, thanks so much for watching! Olives are delicious! Cheers :) -Andrew
Really enjoy the quality of your productions! Also, now knowing that you guys do all your own music has added a whole new appreciation for your efforts. Well done guys!
+David W thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it
One of my favorites. Love the green color of trees after the rain. Nice job !
Shenandoah was where I fell in love with hiking, when I did a portion of the AT with my dad and sisters. I think I was 12. So when you guys played those old clips in the credits I truly feel a kinship to you gents.
The Shenandoah is where my self journey began and where I too fell in love with hiking. It was my very hiking trip. Parked at Big Meadows and followed the AT. Such an amazing place. It will forever hold a place in my heart!
So glad I found your channel.. Keep doing what you're doing! I don't get to go our nearly at all due to work and watching what you do just makes me want to go more and more :). Watching your videos makes me feel like I'm at least seeing some of what you're seeing :).
Firefly moment thoroughly enjoyed on this end guys! Love the channel.
Haha, glad you liked it! Thanks so much for watching :) -Andrew
You guys do a fantastic job with these vids! We're planning a cross country trip, and these are helping us decide where to go!
loved the pack up scene at 38:00 . keep up the great fun guys.
Glad you enjoyed it :) Thanks so much for watching! Cheers! -Andrew
I'm a native Virginian, so of course I liked.
I cannot visit Shenandoah enough. I love it in autumn, just after the little waterfalls freeze on the mountainsides.
The notes about the flora are great.
Well done!
you guys do good work I have enjoyed your your videos . At 63 I still dust off the back back . keep it up your memories will last a life time . yours are on film . keep up the good work ....
These videos have higher production values than most shows on National Geographic or Travel Channel. Good job, guys. You guys deserve way more followers.
Thank you so much for the kind words! Haha, maybe we'll be on TV some day, but I think we kinda prefer being on CZcams and not having a producer tell us how we should make our videos more dramatic or something. Thank you so much for watching! -Andrew
The best hiking videos I've seen are being put out by you guys. Outstanding work, and great audio!
Great video and brings back many fond memories. When I first move to the area, I decided to go back country camping hiking up there one weekend solo. Spur of the moment since I was up in DC/VA/MD by myself since the family was still in Florida waiting to come up later.
Anyway went up to basically same area, hit the trail and made about 10 miles in. Ran into a solo bear on the trail shortly before dusk and ole Yogi went on his way. Still the thought of bear in on trail, me out solo with no one real knowing me out there, and nightfall approaching, fell heavy on the mind.
Went another mile or so looking for flat area with very little good spots, so back tracked to area where I saw bear which was a nice little flat area and decided to put tent up there (ironically also a Sierra 3D) and did all the right thing from some nice hydrate pack in the MSR and stowing the food away in the tree.
Went to sleep nice and comfy and later in the night, winds start picking up, rains come in and hard to sleep, but was under good cover, good tent and all was alright. About 3 am, got woken up when my tent (which I had the guy lines set out) moved big time.
Wow WTH, got my little Mag Light trying to see what was going on and heard some grunt off in the distance near where my food was hanging. Whooa, now wide awake and got my little cook pot and started to make noise and what not and just morning grunts from about 75 feet away. Finally the little Maglite lit up some eyes and got my attention and my but back in tent wide awake.
Was not able to get to sleep and had no issue, however as soon as the sun started coming up, broke camp and immediately back trek the 10 miles to the car. I never hike so fast in my life.
So my planned weekend was two days and one night, all said though very fond memories and I have never hiked solo since without making sure many knew were I was going.
This great video brings back some of those memories and thank you for such. Safe hiking
great story !
that's living
Are you kidding me!!
Now, THAT was an adventure! Glad you made it back out okay.
At 29:30 all I could think about was a saying we have at work. "Don't get bloody, cut towards your buddy." Hahahahaha! Great video guys!
Hahaha, better they lose a finger than you! -Thomas
The Thomas after credit scene is still one of my favorites. I love this episode so much!
I don't like to think of it as "conquering", so much as "accomplishing". I find that there is often a balance between appreciation and managing the difficulties that the wilderness presents and that there are many individuals who experience both. I am a self-proclaimed peak-bagger (among having many other outdoor passions, peak-bagging is just my main association) and I feel a great sense of internal satisfaction when I climb a mountain and reach the top. Great film work and discussions guys. Keep up the good work!
Outstanding Video!!! It's not about the miles like you said. Getting out to enjoy the nature is what it's all about. Great job with the editing! Loved the drone footage:) Bob
Thank you so much! It's always great to see your comments, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video :) Cheers! -Andrew
Shenandoah, Virginia, and West Virginia are beautiful. Thank you for sharing your experience, and ya know - camping is making due with what you find. If you use mountain climbing tube tents - you can set those up anywhere with your sleeping bag inside!
I am very happy you had a fun and free time ! :-) National Parks = America's Best experience ever. Yay, FireFly ! :-D
Thanks so much for watching! Those are definitely beautiful places. Haha, good ol' Firefly. Cheers :) -Andrew
Loved Shenandoah National Park. My friend and I did hiked 3 trails there last April (2022). ♥️
Snags always can provide cool opportunities. That scenery and those drone shots. Insane editing again. Those meals at the end of the trip look tasty.
Gotta enjoy that post-hike meal! -Thomas
what a great video and for me it drives home the fact that when you loose your way, find another route and roll with it....great life lesson lol job well done guys. Thanks for taking us along I enjoyed it
It's all about that simple living! Thanks for watching -Thomas
Seriously, your production gets better with each episode! Excellent work.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for watching :) -Andrew
Happy to have found this channel, a while ago. I have been enjoying these videos in my downtime, and when i could use a pick me up. The positive vibes are so good.
Beautiful and love the way you guys film, compose and edit. very nice on the eyes and ears. Thanks guys, stay safe while making more beautiful vids
These videos are better than any TV or movies. Thank you, sirs!
This is the third time I've watched this video. Should you ever return to Shenandoah NP, consider a cabin rental for your base then hike from there. One cabin, Doyles River cabin, is within fairly easy hiking distance from Loft Mountain campground...access to a store, showers, the AT and of course incredible vistas. The cabin is located in a picturesque spot just above the Doyles River loop and waterfall. The interior of the cabin has a wood burning stove, bunk beds and is equipped with some culinary ware. There is a small prep table as well. The stone porch is covered and a nice fireplace just outside the doorway. Of course there is fire wood galore but you may consider bringing in packaged logs as we did. A water source, a spring, is on the trail to the cabin. I slept one night on the porch leaving the snorers inside; and one of us slept in a hammock rigged across the porch (no tarp necessary). I loved watching this video again as you are all enjoyable to watch and to listen to great narratives.
That sounds awesome! So you rent the cabin and then hike to it and stay at it for some amount of nights? If so that sounds like a real good time, may have to look into it!
I love all the parts incuding Thomas when he couldnt go on the hike!! MUST also keep that in as well!!!! Haha. Briiiiiiiiiiiiiiiilliant work guys!!
I have to say guys, I love these older videos. You are more whimsical & educational in plant life rather than just rushing from point to point as you seem to do in the newer videos. I don’t see dates but I know you are much younger in this one. Still enjoying all of your videos.
AHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANOTHER MASTERPIECE!!! I love the after footage that goes on into the credits!!! Definitely MUST keep that aspect of your formula! Thanks again!!
Haha, thanks so much! Really glad you liked this episode, because we were worried this particular one didn't turn out as good. And definitely will keep the credits footage :) Cheers! -Andrew
I enjoyed THE SOUND! Literally whoever managed the audio in this video . . OUTSTANDING JOB!
+Wilfred Calderon ah thank you very much! Sound is definitely an invisible element that actually is incredibly important so we try our best to make it sound good. This was also the first episode we had a good wireless transmitter for the talking scenes and that combined with the forest naturally muting echo, I agree it sounded pretty good. Thanks for the kind words! -Robby
No problem ! Keep traveling and doing your thing! Eventually you'll have tons of views , and I'm a gamer I rarely see the sun . This made me want to go out with a chick or some friends and enjoy nature .
Haha, that is awesome! Cheers :)
Love how you always make the most of every trip no matter the circumstances! Really fun seeing that flashback at the end to your first Shenandoah trip. It really is a wonderful spot, I also keep going back for more!
Your videos are always top notch! Thanks for sharing! I can't wait to start hiking again! Planning a trip to Shenandoah in June 2018 and I can't wait. Being out in the wilderness is awesome!
Love your videos, my favorite parts of them is when you guys get a beer, or the hot meals by the fire, your faces, pure bliss
GETS better every time I watch , Dave
I love your music so much, it's very calm and relaxing. Especially the track from 0:35 to 2:40
Thank you so much! It's great to hear you say that. By the way, if you want to stream the music, we've got a bandcamp page: adventurearchives.bandcamp.com/album/adventure-archives-episode-12-original-soundtrack Thanks so much for watching! :) -Andrew
+AdventureArchives thanks for the info! :)
This was so good; I had to come back and re-watch it! Love the music, too.
You guys made me fall in love with hiking, and I really have been wanting to plan my trip. I just finished all the planning and found all my gear and then I found this video. I live in Virginia and planned to hike the Shenandoah in a few weeks and wow this is amazing I can’t wait to see it in person
Guys, thank you so much for making this! It really brings me great joy to see a group of friends enjoying the raw beauty of nature. You guys really inspire me to want to go do this too, although there are many hurdles along the way. People literally think you're weird for enjoying nature these days. They forget that we all are part of it, but many of us lost the connection to nature.
Greetings from the Netherlands!
Thanks from the US! Nature is really like a "reset button" for me. It's amazing how surprised people are when I take them into the mountains. -Thomas
+AdventureArchives Yes, nature is awesome :)
have a great day
Thank you for bringing us along on your journey... It is the beauty that you see and show that is beyond words. Thank you again
No no, thank you! Best of luck! -Thomas
Thanks for sharing your adventures. Good I remember hiking on the AT through Shenandoah NP. It was great! Beautiful memories comes to my mind, seeing your adventures. Good I remember that great breakfast at the lodge there. Keep on hiking!
The beauty of the video is beautiful and natural. Thank you for posting the video.
Love living vicariously through your adventures, and can't wait for the next episode. Keep up the great work guys!
Thanks! You will LOVE the next episode then. It's definitely one of our best. -Thomas
First time viewer. Subbed right away a minute in when you started explaining the plants. Felt like a real TV show, nice change of pace from what else is on youtube. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to my first time in SNP this weekend!
I enjoy the video quality and the music as they go together. Always a surprise to me. You are doing as I once did and enjoy seeing your development. I'm 73 this month and don't have the health to get out except to drive. I live close to the Sierra mtns. Keep up the nice work and have fun.
A pleasure to accompany you all and see part by part how the AA began and evolve . I join you all recently starting with an episode filmed in Japan. Here Thomas was just featured,,,awwwww. Glad he became an integral part of AA thereafter....wonderful and best idea as it enriched the episodes...strong bond in friendship!
I love your videos. Very professionally done. All the best to you!
So glad you threw in the old footage at the end! 😂
This is the first video of yours that I have watched, and I loved it! I had an internship at Shenandoah last summer and I miss being there pretty much every day, so thank you for taking me back home for an hour. I have also never explored this part of the park, but it is now on my list of things to see/do when I go back! These shots are amazing, everything is so green! And some of your conversations, or things that happened...like thinking of that one singer, or having a hand come out and help...just silly things like that remind me of my own adventures. I can't wait to get back out there.
That mistake in the trail was meant to be, we were with you guys all the way.🙂 Love it!
This was so amazingly beautiful and satisfying!
I LOVE the music at the Cozy Pine Needles section! Very catchy!
Cool video! I love watching nature, explore and calm down...
Heading out Shenandoah very soon! Dope video!!! I can't wait!!!
This one and the Algonquin episode are my favorites. Thank you guys for sharing your adventures.
Great as always! I always feel like I'm on an adventure with you when I'm watching these.
We love taking you! -Thomas
Nicely done Gentlemen. Always a joy to view a new AA episode. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us.
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed the video :) Cheers! -Andrew
This video is incredibly well filmed, I haven't seen a lot like it
Finally a video of yours that is somewhere I've been! Can't wait until it's safe to get out of confinement and go hiking again. All the trails are closed here to maintain physical distancing.
Ahhhhh....I settled in to watch and.....Water droplets and snail, gorgeous...Miracle hand, funny detail...and love the drone shot of the mountains right after....well said, Freedom and Beauty theme. Totally engaging and lovely so I felt I was there. The rainy foggy environment is even better on film than any sunny day. I so enjoyed watching it. The films get better and better every time. THANK YOU!
No no, Thank YOU! -Thomas

First time watching. I really enjoyed your hike and how you interact with one another and also how you point out the living flora around you. Great job and sounds like you've been at this for a long time. I live less than an hour away from where you hiked and have also hiked in the area so this brought back memories. Thanks so much.
Another great vid lads. 47 mins of great viewing.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it, and thank you for watching :) -Andrew
Absolutely great production and great content! Love your videos

Pretty bold move to fly the drone over the freeway!
super secret filmmaking trick: we actually were stopped at a rest area and robby was flying it around lol
I love the cinematography! You guys are very entertaining. Thanks for sharing your hard work. Great job!
Thanks for the kind words! -Thomas
I discovered your channel last weekend and have now watched all the main episodes in the first two seasons up to this one. I've really enjoyed the videos - they are very inspiring. Great work guys!
Thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed the videos, and thanks for checking them out :) Cheers! -Andrew
You guys should consider starting a "hiking knowhow series," with episodes such as "fire starting," "campsite selection," "trip planning," "filming on the trail," etc. You already have a tone of footage that you could choose from to highlight do's and don'ts and maybe even for short bloopers segments at the end of each video. And you already do a great job w/ narration. This could work well as an exclusive to encourage more Patreons as you already w/ pre-releases of new videos.
I felt the same as you have suggested.
Love the videos you guys are amazing!
My favorite part of this whole video was the ending. I was like, is that them when they were teenagers? And what are they doing? 😂
What a beautifully filmed video. You guys are very knowledgable, too. Very entertaining. Can't wait to visit Shenendoah next month!
4 minutes in and all I can say is... wow. Beautifully shot and edited. Looking forward to the rest of the video...
Thank you so much! Glad you're enjoying it :) -Andrew

Thank you for this superb video! I love your videos as they are so well done and the narration is wonderful. My next trip to Shenandoah is to camp in the Loft Mountain campground and hike the trails around it. Andrew, your wood lore knowledge is incredible.
+Alex Weaver Thanks so much for the kind words! Really glad you enjoyed it. I haven't been to that campground. I feel like there's so much of that park that I haven't seen. Let us know how it goes! Cheers :) -Andrew
