    Roanoke, Virginia was pretty damn cool. I had a blast showing myself around Carvin's Cove and ended up meeting a lot of folks in the parking that had seen my videos. What a cool community that is building some amazing trails. I hear tell that there's a ton more riding to be had in this area, I'll have to come back and check it out.

    Native to Roanoke. Carvins is just an awesome place and yes, hike a bike up Hi-Dee-Ho is common. Glad you enjoyed our trails! Fun Fact, I believe the fee doesn't go to support the trails in anyway. All trails are built and maintained by volunteers. BROC, Blue Ridge Gravity and sometimes Roanoke County Parks and Rec are the ones out keeping everything in tip top shape. The land belongs to Western Virginia Water Authority and the fee goes to them. Roanoke County takes care of the administrative stuff and then the local riders handle the rest.

      @jonathanheisler1 Před 4 lety +2

      Also in Roanoke! Carvins Cove is where it's at. I hope they build more trails off Mill Mountain and that camp ground up there.

      @jcbass2u Před 2 lety +1

      @@jonathanheisler1 Well you know how hard it is getting the City to agree to change the use of any land around the mountain, unless you have a very large bank account....Would love to see it expanded, such a great location, lived here all my life, and have hiked up the trails most of it....

    • @RoanokeEastCoasters
      @RoanokeEastCoasters Před 2 lety +2

      Actually the Cove is a Roanoke City park, the 2nd largest municipal park in the country.
      Roanoke City Parks and Rec does a good bit of the trail work out there and has paid staff that do trail work. BROC, Blue Ridge Gravity and Pathfinders for Greenways do a ton of work as well.
      The fees don’t go directly to the trails but they do go into the general fund from where the money the City spends on them comes from. Hopefully the city will continue to expand their direct investment in the building and maintenance but it’s really hard to get elected officials to understand the value of that investment. It’s gotten WAY better over the years, though. We fought very hard back in the late 90s to just get the trails open to bikes and now we’ve gotten to a point where there are plans in place to expand the trail system at the Cove by many many miles.

    Here is a little tip. If you think your phone is overheating unplug it and let it drop to below 4% then take a really cold bottle and set it down. Charge the phone while it is next to the coldest bottle you have. And the only other thing is shut down every program. You know that if you think the programs are off just by returning to the home page they aren’t. Try double tapping the home button. I notice phones get cranky if there are over 15 programs running

    Bummer you didn't make it to OG Line. It's a machine built jump trail at the top of this trail system. It runs parallel to Royalty down the ridge, then merges into another trail so you get both machine built flow/jump and hand built singletrack in the same run. That trail and Royalty are my personal favorites at Carvin's Cove.

    About your ventilation issue, get a set of window vent shades. You can then leave your windows cracked and even if it rains, you won't have to worry about water getting in. You might have to make a set of custom fit screens to keep out the bugs at night, but it would be worth it. With your roof fan on, you would get some air flow and not be basically pulling a vacuum.

    Had you been to Fountain Head Regional Park MTB trail yet?
    I had not been to and did not know there is one down in Roanoke........ But there is one in the northern area and its name is Fountainhead Regional Park, MTB trail and it has ...pretty good stamina challenging trail.......give it a visit if you are still around the DMV area (Deleware, Maryland, Virginia)

    You should visit Bryce bike park, one of the few dh parks we have in Va and trails are short but sweet. Highly recommend pickleback.

    Man If you come back up to Carvin's I'll happily tag along. I guarantee Ill gas out first, bull Ill ride down whatever after I take my bike for a walk to get to the top. Im over by Blacksburg, so I usually just go hit the Pandapas Pond trail area because its right by work. I've actually never been to Carvin's cove. I havent gone there by myself because I generally dont realize that Im going faster than my skill level/gear until I turn into a lawn dart.

    Damn dude, I would’ve guessed you’d be using a garmin or tomtom with all the remote areas you visit seeing as they don’t need cell signal. Definitely worth the $100 as a back up.
