  • On today's to-do list we have to install and align the track on a 2002 Polaris XC 500. Almost everything I go over on this video will be the same on other sleds! So don't let the fact that its a Polaris scare you!

    the edges are my favorite sleds. just installed an edge skid on my rx1 and it's like riding a marshmallow. good stuff. nice sled BTW ✌️

    For track tension and alignment, don't put too much stock into the adjuster bolts being set exactly the same on either side.
    With age and a few bangs, the tunnel and the skid can get a bit of a twist.
    Just adjust for tension and alignment as shown.

    I have been having a hard time lining up the two red bolts, going to try your strap trick

    I just unspring the rear springs instead of using a ratchet strap. work great every time.

      Awesome! There’s always lots of ways to skin the cat!

  • @9436432
    @9436432 Před 4 měsíci

    Just undo the rear springs and you can collapse the rear shock, and place the rear mounting shaft wherever you need to,

    • @ToyShop9665
      @ToyShop9665  Před 4 měsíci

      You can do that! I think you’ve still gotta fight with the rear shock but ya that would work

  • @jimdaniels3542
    @jimdaniels3542 Před rokem +3

    You did that the hard way for sure. You don't need a strap at all when you do this job.

    • @ToyShop9665
      @ToyShop9665  Před rokem +2

      I don’t know another way 🤷🏻‍♂️ and I do like one track every 2 years so it works lol

      Pretty sure you do. I just did this job and the back ones don’t line up without the strap

      @@ToyShop9665I just put mine back in my 79 Yamaha Enticer, definitely need a strap. 👍. Was looking for a proper tension video when I saw your video.

    • @user-sj1kz4ov8g
      @user-sj1kz4ov8g Před 5 měsíci

      If you pop out the springs on both sides you definitely don’t need the strap! All the strap does is fight the spring tension that is totally avoidable 😊

    I have that from left skid bolt snapped off. Do you think I have to remove the whole skid to replace it? Thanks.

    • @ToyShop9665
      @ToyShop9665  Před rokem +1

      Ya probably 😅 that sucks. You might be able to leave it in the track but it’d be easier to drop the skid all the way down

      I have but its easier with someone and I had nothing to prove lol use a floor jack and adjust the height of the stand at the rear and its not terrible!

    Bruh, tip the sled on its side. You did this the hardest way possible.

    • @ToyShop9665
      @ToyShop9665  Před rokem +3

      Never done it that way 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @snakerstran9101
      @snakerstran9101 Před rokem +4

      I've done many skid remove and installs, mostly Polaris. This way, along with some learned techniques is by far easier than tipping the sled.

      yea , just because the book says, remove hood, tip on side, doesn't mean that is the only option

      You jack up the back end and losen the track
