Haas, is a world-renowned professor of bio-physics and the former head of Professors for a Strong Israel. In the Yom Kippur War, Haas served as a reserve company commander in a mechanized infantry brigade that fought in the Golan Heights and Syria.

Great analysis with regard to the second and third generations. Reminds me Judges 2:10 " After THAT whole generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation grew up, who knew neither Jahweh, nor what He had done for Israel". That was a brilliant discussion. I was just happy to keep up and understand the conversation. To me, as a Christian, the core of Jewishness - is the Torah and God's giving it to the Jewish people. The scrolls have such deep meaning, and the other elements of the culture flow out of that.
I had a lot of the same feelings about the depth of the conversation. I had to stay locked in. It was really a brilliant conversation and to be honest, it reminded me of what is happening in parallel in the United States. I just recently found Caroline Glick and just love her.
Beautiful explanation from Professor Elisha Haas to understand the historical philosophy of the left what came out of the Yom Kippur war. We must realize we must rely only on HaShem not America nor Europe. The existence of the state of Israel is miraculous of constant miracles. ❤

"War is the continuation of policy with other means." People forget that. In the book The Ramadan War 1973 from the Egyptian point of view, the aim of the war was to regain the Sinai(which they did later) and restore honor to the Egyptian army. Though they lost on a tactical level, the Egyptians knew they would get resupplied by the Soviet Union. I also read that Sadat threatened a new war in 78 or 79 if the diplomacy did not work. The rest is history. Israel suffered from the disease of victory in 1967. And in my opinion we still suffer from as we just seek to rough up our enemies and contain them.

I had no idea about the depth of the divisions within Israeli society that has recently erupted into the streets of your country. I urge you to remain strong and resolute in the face of this mass psychosis which endangers the very existence of Zionism. It is essential that the coalition prevails. The Jews living in Israel today, secular or not, are part of the "Miracle of the Ages" even if they don't know it and are not religious. This is the answer to "Why are we here?" They are "there" because the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, SAID they would be there centuries ago and arranged events in history that gradually gathered them back there. They should study the miracle they are part of in the Tanakh and consider the remaining promises concerning them that are yet to be fulfilled which are just as certain.
Great interview and great insight into the reason for this turmoil we see in Israel. The path back to what Israel was created for will come. Israel is God’s chosen people and they will be awaken to that reality.

Maybe the most important broadcast on the subject of Israel. Too bad the audio is so messed up. You should release a bunch of ‘shorts’ with some of the key points made here. Very illuminating esp in view of the war in the west between left and right, globalists and nationalists, and also regarding US aid to Israel. (Also very timely in that the film ‘Golda’ is about to be released, that Vivek Ramaswamy would cease US aid as we know it, and that Netanyahu and the judicial reforms are getting such bad press.)
Very good dissection & insight into the situation. Yet there are points I believe were mistaken.
1. Lapid, Gantz et al are not afraid of the mobs in the street. They created this monster & they direct it. They fuel it. If they would have the honesty, decency, and loyalty, they would say, "People, calm down, this has gone too far."
2. The hate, the inside battle, against the Jewish religion & religious Jews here existed from the beginning. Ben gurion et al, had the expressed goal of eradicating the religion from "their" state. I heard this directly from him in a personal conversation in his home in 1966.
3. Remember, Ehud Barak was the commander of the matkal unit that freed the hostages in the plane that had been hijacked to Tel Aviv (BG) airport. He gave the absurd order to not kill all 4 of the hijackers but to keep 2 alive. Those 2 were later released and returned to terror activity!!
4. Ehud Barak also perpetrated the abandonment of Southern Lebanon. That absurd move left tons of military equipment, ammunition, etc., to be grabbed by the terrorists. He also betrayed our sole allies in Lebanon, the Maronites.
5. That same 3 times failure is at the head of Forum 555, a traitorous organization that for years has been planning & sowing the seeds for the mess going on now. Their sole target is to destroy any non-far-left government. The same thing that B-G & his gang were doing in the late 40s & early 50s!
Remember the Altalena!
Remember the huge amount of top grade military equipment they acquired from the Nazis & stored in kibbutzim for the sole purpose of making a bloody violent open civil war in case the Herut party (right wing) would have won the 1st democratic election!
Would it be possible for you to do an explanation of the issues covered in this interview? I think I did understand at least the gist but it was hard to hear. I would love to understand this most amazing existential struggle of Israel. I never knew it was so deep.

This analysis finally revealed to me the historical aspects and roots of the real problems we face today in Israel. Thank you both for this enlightening discussion and your analysis. I'll tell you more, I'm one of those of the second generation, and I was lucky that my parents taught me and instilled in me the Jewish tradition and it's importance, but, at school it was all materialistic doctrine. The teachers taught us to look for and chase the materialistic things in life and not spiritual ideals. I blame the education system more then the parents.
Caroline, there is a sound transmission problem on your end, his is clear. In the first half of the video, your sound fades in and out so that every other word cuts out. Thank you both. A take-away from Prof. Haas: The Torahcists should not compromise and the anti-Torahsists should practice basic respect for the others i.e. Torahcists. Then what? Seems at the first some few selections from either, any, or each of the following are how the respect should be proven: a) Moses Maimonides,' 13 Principles of Faith; b) Rabbi M.M.Schneerson's suggested 10 Mitzot to start with; c) the 13 elements in the song Echad Mi Yodea.

The juxtaposition of values vs interests is well annunciated and really puts a point on the current craziness. Let's hope that the secular, socialist, elitist Left in Israel finally realizes that the tides have turned against them and gives up this anti-logical struggle to turn Israel into just another European state and joins the majority in embracing Jewish values and identity.
Am not Jewish; but this video has been very enlightening, I’ve asked myself why there are such a huge number of leftist in Israel, your guess gave me an answer or explanation which makes sense, even to me not a Jew and living far away from your Arab conflicts; In contrast some of the same issues exposed here by your guess, I’m completely convinced, relate to the Americans born and raised in the 60s & 70s by the WWII generation of Americans, they just like the first generation of the Israel state, did a terrible job by not telling and relating to their kids how lucky and fortunate they were being born in the USA and today we have the emergence of a radical left wing here as you have over there. I find interesting how both generations here and In Israel thought they were doing a favor to the next generation and their nations by shielding their kids from their war experiences and values learned and doing this has turned out to be a big mistake and my prove to be the demise of two great countries Israel and the US, tough-love is the best medicine and method to keep generations in the best course or direction. I can say this from experience coming from a communist country, which I left at the age of 8, my parents and many other elders from the old country were the source that kept me from running stray into the arms of liberal-socialism which has been permeating the US diligently for decades and currently reaching new heights.

Saying all first generation went to Cheder and had Jewish religious background is an exaggeration I think.
It is, however, in that generation, they retained the memories of the yiddishkeit /ייִדישקייט (for Ashkenazim or more collectively, יַהֲדוּת) Even if totally secular, they know or grew up around Jewish customs and mores, and at the time of the יישוב/Yishuv, these customs were more respected, as the דתי /religious communities were relatively small. There were whole swaths (and likely still are) of the Jewish population living in Israel who are מסורתי /traditional. The experience and treatment of the ספדרים/sefardim, particularly those who came from (or, more commonly, expelled from) Arab lands was very different after the state was declared. Another topic, for another time... באמת/in truth, really.
