  • Installing the OEM 5th and 6th generation civic strut bar. These are very common in Europe and are a cheap and quick upgrade for any civic made in those years.

    What spec/size are the nuts and bolts used?

    Nice!
    Thanks for the video and idea for instal!
    I would have just put the bolt in reverse with the other side glued by body sealant.
    That way the other end has the nut like the factory setup. This is to enable the strut bar to be easily removable when conducting maintenance necessary to remove the strut bar.
    Also if you want to upgrade the strut bar reusing the existing studs it can be removed.
    An upgrade will be to use the Integra Type R strut as it can fit into the same holes.

      You're right. Though I prefer the bolts to be visible instead of the nuts haha. THe Integra Type R strut bar isn't much of an upgrade. it's not any stiffer, if anything it is less since it is raised significantly higher and is made of aluminium. This stock strut bar is all you need and works just fine.

      Geez, give him a chance he just fitted this one(2 yes ago). 😀

    Nicely done, probably better to paint the raw metal with paint as primer is porous but with the extra lengths you went to it probably will not make any difference. 👍

    Great video man. I've got a Honda strut bar just like this that I'm looking at installing on my mom's Civic for her. What grade bolts did you use for this install?

    • @90Rex
      @90Rex  Před 2 lety +1

      use the highest grade you can get. they're not expensive in any case, it's just 4 bolts.

    Does this strur bar fit over the stock d14 intake? And do I need to torque it down to certain specs or just tighten it as much as possible?

    • @90Rex
      @90Rex  Před 3 lety

      It should fit. Definitely do not overtighten the bolts. How tight you can make it depends on the grade of bolts you use. But honestly about 40Nm should be enough. Just use high grade bolts and don't strip them and you're good.

      @@90Rex Eh, Ill just handtighten them rly well then, I thought there was like a torque spec for those bolts from like a vti manual or something but thanks anyway! And I love ur vids man, its great to see more Honda content from europe, keep it up!

    You are using too much sealent there xD and don't dye it ever because almost every spray and paint contains alcohol and that will damage seal...everything else was clean and helpful! :)

      Good thing I'm lazy as fuck and actually never painted the sealant lol. thanks for the comment. I'm not a professional so I learn every day :)
