Belarus makes pretty good sweets. I used to like 90% bitter chocolate manufactured by Spartak, excellent and cheap. Kommunarka also makes nice chocolate bars. I buy Belarus-made foods occasionally, various stuff, but once in a few months or so.
Nice to see Mrs Russell. Why not do some traditional Russian home baking with yourself and your wife for your channel? Like some simple recipes we can all try no matter where we are in the world? Sharlotka? Great video and nice to know Belarus and other former USSR republics make so many goods of their own, including whiskey and long flat rectangle pringles! 🤩

Every time I watch one of Russell's videos, it is a trip down memory lane
what America looked like in the 1990's
Family-friendly
Low crime rates
Malls where the family went to spend an afternoon and dinner together
I sure hope Russia doesn't go through what we in America have gone through
a collapse of our civilization to what today is lawlessness in our cities and those citizens
brutalized by the lawlessness seem to enjoy it.

I remember I was at Marshall's in the early 2000s. And I left my purse at the shoe corner. And forget about it for the next half an hour. And nothing has happened to my purse. I came in a rush and found the purse with everything inside.

1) Cash money removed - drugs bought - police track it back to you
2) Credit cards maxed out
3) Driver's license has your address, so home is broken into and more IDs stolen
4) Identity stolen, so all kinds of new credit cards opened and maxed out
5) Title on home altered so you don't own your home anymore
6) Social Security number now used by thousands of illegals - retirement is now a mess
7) Address altered on IRAs and other retirement funds and zeroed out
I'm sure there are 20+ more things that would happen today.
And America lectures the rest of the world how they are supposed to live....

Low life expectancy in Russia though. In the States it's a 1 - 11 chance of dying before the age of 55. Whereas in Russia it's 1 - 4 as cardiovascular diseases and cancer is higher, mainly because of alcohol.

Another great show. As you know, Australian grocery is a dystopian duopoly sadly devoid of any real choice. I am impressed with this supermarket. I like how your wife sees things and provides comment. It'd be awesome to get her out with you more often. (BTW, you are batting well above your average with her, mate. Well done Russ!)
Cheers. My wife wasn't a huge fan of Coles and Woolies when we live back in Perth. She did like the IGA's though. Also, a larger farmers market we have in Bunbury.

My personal favourite is Ochackovo Family Traditions white kvas, especially the one with horseradish. Too bad it's seasonal and should be only kept in a fridge due to a different type of fermentation.

Water at the local Bodega in SF is about $3 for 500ml. Hourly pay rate minimum wage is $20/hour.
I think it's wonderful that your wife came with you for this tour. She can give a very local perspective from what she sees.... so, we get to see it from your eyes as a person from offshore and hers as being born there. I think that makes it very interesting.

Your wife is a good sport and hope she can visit in more videos. If my husband had the same line of work, I hope I would be so patient. Being on camera when you are not used to it is stressful. Also critiquing packaging in Russia/Belarus is a big big pot meet kettle moment given how it is to this day in Straya, less is more and that's how it is. Most russians are grass always greener sorts, when they expat all but the ultra rich ping pong back home for a damn good reason. I grew up in the UK midlands, trust me, I witnessed it when Russian immigrants all started going home.

For some people they’d find this subject mundane. But for me Russell, absolutely not. I enjoy browsing stores and looking at products you’re not necessarily going to buy. I enjoy too seeing the brands of foods and whatnot from Russia, Belarus, and other central Asian former communist countries. Oh, I see Mrs. Russell is getting over her shyness. Nice to meet her. Hope you bring her along more often. As for the meats, I am an adventurous eater. I'll give horse a try. I've eaten many odd meats in my life. Besides the normal meats, I've had deer, elk, moose, wild boar, squirrel, snake, alligator, frog, ostrich, buffalo, and bear.
