  • Prokaryotic gene expression vs eukaryotic gene expression - This lecture explains about the difference between Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic gene expression. Prokaryotic gene expression is simple and it occurs in the cytoplasm of the cell including DNA Replication, transcription and translation while gene expression in eukaryotes are complex and it contains several stages. The process of DNA Replication takes place inside the nucleus but the protein synthesis takes place in Cytosol. Eukaryotic RNA is modified by polyadenylation and splicing prior to the protein synthesis and it is regulated in several different levels. While the Prokaryotic gene expression is regulated by the Operon concept while the expression of genes regulated by a single promoter and operator gene.
