    Your tech tip saved a dive today. Went diving with some friends this morning. One had a leaking tank. Checked the o ring and it was as flat as can be. Used your technique for getting it out, turned it over and told them about your you tube channel. Cool.

    great tip. Might be good to mention O2 rings vs regular ones - I see them in different color so I presume that's what they are for. DIN tip would be useful too.

    Great video, as always. Informative and useful. I did notice your Sea Hunt Forever shirt, and I was wondering when and where your next Ohio vintage meetup is. I know you used to have them at Portage, but since they closed, where do you go now? I would love to try and attend one!

    Great video Alec, Is this the same for DIN connectors and is it safe to use silicone (gun/electrical) grease on scuba o'rings? I never knew about the sizing for o'rings!

    Hey Alex,
    ' great videos.
    I have a 1996 scuba tank and it required a "13" (13mm?) o- ring. Whereas, the standard seems to be a 14 according to local dive shop. The "14" were $1. each
    whereas the "13" were $2.50 each (ouch).. I tried a 14 but it was too loose for this older model.

    Slight of hand... Hahaha you would make a good magician,

  • @chiranagheorghitaeugeniuth98

    try that with a DIN type regulator. you will not be able to unscrew it. use a very sharp pick and repkace the oring from the dive emergency kit. :)

    I have my tanks and equipment stored in a remote area of the Philippines and have to leave in storage for several months at a time. Is it better to store the tanks with 50 bar or 200 bar?

    • @AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter
      @AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter  Před 4 lety

      If storing for a few months reduce it to 50 bar or 25 bar. Anything well above ambient air pressure will do. Saves stressing the tank especially if subject to big temperature changes (hot to cool and back).

  • @SpaceStickwithSpaceTick

    I bought one of those mini scuba tanks with o-rings int them. It came with a small thing of a silcone grease. Do I need to grease tank o-rings when I replace them?

    • @AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter
      @AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter  Před 2 lety +2

      The grease is to make it easer to get the o-ring into the the valve groove. The o-ring itself doe not get lubed. It would make it easier to extrude out and cause an air leak.

      Paul Myatt you can use your a clamp regulator.

    How do you know what year your tank is?And does it take 2 rings in the front

    • @AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter
      @AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter  Před 4 měsíci

      The front opening (where the air comes out), has only ONE o-ring. Each tank must have the year & month stamped on it. Check this info out on tank markings.

    What happened to SCUBA 2000? You used to have a sign in the background for SCUBA 2000 and you used to introduce yourself as Alec Pierce, SCUBA 2000.....just curious why the change?

    • @wksjunior95
      @wksjunior95 Před 7 lety

      I ask my self the same thing a long time ago!! It was almost automatic, "Alec Pierce, SCUBA 2000..." Now my brain continue when he stops.
      But honest, I guess the even Alec miss that. I notice that some videos he controls himself to do not said that.

    • @AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter
      @AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter  Před 7 lety +7

      I have sold Scuba 2000 and retired.
      After 47 years in the scuba business I've decided to relax and let someone younger have a crack at it.
      I will continue my channel and all 3 playlists. I hope you keep watching.
      The new owner wants me to continue to show the Scuba 2000 sign and that's fine with me.
      I can't think of a better place to promote although my videos have no ads and no agenda other than to have a good time and maybe help divers, or at least entertain them.
      Thanks for watching guys. Alec
