Remember Me is set in the year 2084, in a futuristic version of Paris called Neo-Paris. The Memorize corporation has invented a new brain implant called Sensen, which enables 99% of the population to upload and share their memories on the net, as well as remove unhappy or unpleasant memories. This gives Memorize an immense degree of control over the population and enables them to establish a surveillance state, which leads a small group of rebels by the name of Errorists to attempt to bring down Memorize. The invention of the Sensen has also resulted in the creation of Leapers, memory-addicted humans who have absorbed so many memories that their Sensen has degraded and they have mutated into subhuman form, now living in the sewers of Neo-Paris.
The game begins as Nilin, an Errorist imprisoned in the Bastille Fortress, is having almost all her memory wiped by Memorize. As she is taken to have the last of her memories wiped, a mysterious man called Edge, the leader of the Errorists and a man she only hears over her comm device, helps her escape. Edge tells her that she is an Errorist with the gift of both stealing and remixing memories. After escaping into the slums of Neo-Paris, Nilin encounters Tommy, a fellow Errorist. Nilin and Tommy are attacked by Olga Sedova, a bounty hunter chasing Nilin. Nilin dives into Olga's mind and remixes her memory to make Olga believe that her husband was killed by a Memorize doctor. She then becomes an Errorist ally, and transports Nilin to her first destination.

Such an old game now, remember being hyped for it. Soundtrack is amazing

I loved this game. I had it but sold it to get another game. Still fun, especially the soundtrack and graphics were great
I can’t help but feel bad for Olga because she was hunting Niln for money to save her husband…and then Niln remixes her memories so she thinks he’s dead…. :(
Oh and Niln made a guy kill himself thinking his girlfriend was murdered by him? Harsh 😭

um, didn't really like this one, the story is very weak. so much potential. Great concept. But not really enough for replays.
But, Gotta admit, It definitely has a very detailed world to go with it .

Absolutely agree. It's only been done in ten thousand other games before.
Here's what this video game didn't tell you: thousands -- hundreds of thousands -- of legitimate people, who did not abuse the system, paid a ton of money to have their painful memories removed and were possibly living very good lives (we will never know because none of them were mentioned). Then ONE PERSON decided to give everyone their memories back and, undoubtedly, kept their money. No voting? No decision-making? No questioning? And this ONE PERSON who assisted with the deaths of thousands of innocent people waled away as a hero. And the exceptionally apologetic computer responsible for all of this is perceived as a victim? Yeah, I hate this plot. That combined with the same boring fight sequences against the same types of redundant, repeating enemies makes this a huge thumbs down. I just didn't like the game or the plot.
But to each his/her own. YMMV.
That's the point, the ones who had painful memories removed WERE the problem, those painful memories had to go somewhere, those memories condensed and formed an AI made from that pain, and when the pain became too much for the AI the memories were shunted into the Leapers driving them mad.
The responsible way to use the system is to use it to stop people forgetting things, like Alzheimer's and such things, but literally removing bad memories is in no way a healthy way to cope with bad emotions, we need the bad so we can grow more as a person, hell as a people and become stronger for it.
