  • Well, hopefully our accountant can use the $0.92 in long term ad revenue from this video to offset the cost of the actuator we destroyed.
    While "rebuilding" a VGT turbo actuator can be done, it shouldn't. Just buy a new/reman actuator and get that rig rolling. The time spent trying to rebuild it certainly won't offset the down time no matter how you do the math I don't even care if you buy it from us or not (but you should :)

    Scary how fragile it looks taken apart. No wonder trucks feel like junk these days.

    As you can see when I separated the housings with my hammer the control board broke!
    This is a ham-fisted approach to sell rebuilt actuators.

    does anyone know if you change the actuator out with a new one can you do it yourself or does it need to be calibrated/ programmed to the truck or anything like that? I can't find much info on it. thanks

    That bearing needs grease, in my case the bearing was locking up took it apart WD and greased, works great, I had a new one on standby couldn’t find anyone competent to calibrate it, old one was already calibrated so decided to rebuild it works fine…

    Is the $799 vgt actuator (holset brand )that HD TURBO sells worst-case or the one that the dealer sells (horset brand ) for $1400? Please advise please I'm thinking buying the one that HD TURBO is selling for $799

    • @momentumworx
      @momentumworx  Před 7 měsíci

      We don't have any experience with HD turbo.
      We do have new aftermarket actuators starting at $800 or Genuine HOLSET HX actuators for $1200

    Dude wants to scare you from repairs, and encourages to buy new, not a sustainable and cheap guidance video.

    • @momentumworx
      @momentumworx  Před 9 měsíci +3

      There is nothing "cheap" about maintaining a commercial truck. And if you think you can properly fully rebuild this actuator for cheaper then buying a replacement (don't forgot about including the time it will take you to learn and physically do the job, that's an expense) I'll hire you to build them here at our shop.
      The only reason this video even happened is because we genuinely tried to find a more cost effective way recycle/reuse actuators and determined that scale required to rebuild them correctly did not make economical sense. If you don't value your time time, then sure / bandaid the actuator and you might make it down the road a few more miles or maybe it will hold out forever. But that's not a risk I'm willing to take with any of my customers' trucks.
      So next time you think we are trying to "scare you" into making a purchase, maybe take a look at all the content and information we provide to the trucking community (FOR FREE)
      Thanks for watching...

      No offence implied, but it's not rocket science, most of the fail points you mention are "O" rings. But I can appreciate the safety and quality standard you provide your customers.

      He said they are repairable but the kit to repair do not have the moderbooard or microchip table or any other part that will need to be replaced. Yes you can buy whatever part needs to be fix but it will take .onger the usually to put it back together.

      This guy is paid by companies to make videos like this, so yes, you’re exactly right he does want you to make expensive repairs and scare you into repairing things whenever you could just probably clean it and keep going
