I used to dislike this album when i discovered this band (they just released From Mars to Sirius). How wrong i was, it's definitely their best album. Terra incognita has the best ambience too.

I could watch you guys react to gojira all day. Like if you did a vid reacting to all their songs I'd watch it in one go :D Their earlier stuff has such a huge personal meaning in my life. I can say their music and lyrics shaped me as a human being and had such an impact on me growing up. Great band.

The one Gojira track you guys need to hear is Mouth of Kala! There is a great anime music video version (kind of falls in line with your slaughter to prevail over berserk)or just the version with the still image of the album art or the live version although, I don’t know a good version 🤷🏻♂️.
I was just thinking this morning I haven't seen anyone react to mouth of Kala, one of those tracks that fall by the wayside!

The Vieilles Charrues festival is a very big festival in France (read: mainstream music, the crowd is very much not used to metal)
In the beginning Joe asks who in the audience knew the band already and then who are discovering them right then. He then says "That's a song for everybody discovering us tonight" and they proceed to play one of their most (tech) death metal type songs, even for back then
Finally! I remember you did some suggestions of this show (Charrues Villes 2010) like Vacuity and Clone for example. It's almost 2 years overdue, *if I can only make one recommendation it's to see their live version of World to Come from this show,* it's a vast improvement over the studio version. To be honest though I say do the whole remainder of the concert It has some other bangers on there.
I consider that entire concert to be their peak sound imho, not saying others are bad, not at all, but they as a band sound so good and Joe sounds so in the zone vocally, it's like the man is a dragon with human skin lol

-Inward Movement at The Link Alive
-Ocean Planet - Live at Rio - underrated, i can hear some Metallica in this one, the emotion in his growls towards the end, you feel it right away.
-In the Forest - Link Alive - classic early Gojira, great intro from Mario as well.
-Lizard Skin live at Vieilles Charrues - relentless riffage
-Space Time Link Alive - another classic
-Yama’s messenger studio - this is a grower, needed quite sometime to fully appreciate this one.
-probably a top 5 track for me by Gojira, is ‘Blow me Away you’ live at link alive, the end puts you in a trance, this in your car while driving at night, is pure bliss. Incredible stuff, nothing else to add.

Always fun with Gojira. You should check out Alien Weaponry too. They just toured with Gojira in the US this fall. Kai Tangata or Tangaroa are good places to start.

Yes to the studio version… and yes this is one of their best songs. It is the perfect opener for FMTS. Joe’s vocals are especially incredible.

something noticeable about this performance is that it was probably their first huge festival appearance (in a high spot/almost headlining) which was a non metal festival but a french singer/songwriter - pop - electro festival, very popular in France. It explains why Joe says "glad to see there are still some people here", because it's not the beginning of their set, but people seemed to like them even if at the time Gojira were extreme metal all the way. Glad you did another Gojira's oldie! Definitely next : a song from their demos (which are AMAZING too) : Deliverance would be a good one to start with.
what you can see here is that these gigs were at the beginning or their journey. So they have always been incredible. Maybe check "l'enfant sauvage" at Redrocks it's another great performance, and also one of their major influence Neurosis
