Just remember that Tencent owns 100% of Riot games. And that is the issue. Tencent can and will do whatever they want with Riot Games. So I think it's already a bad faith statement from this Developer who is trying to say they barely talk with them.
You don't ensure you have 100% of a company, and then never talk to them or make decisions for them. Especially when they're your top money earner, or at least one of them.
Also many Anti cheats are Kernel level, but they are only active while the game is active. The issue with Vanguard being up all the time is it is a security flaw. It's like leaving a door unlocked at a highly secure area. Sure, there is a low chance of someone trying to get into that door, but at the same time, when there are constant actors TRYING to gain access somehow, all it takes is one person trying to compromise it entirely.
There's a reason many Cyber Security specialists do not like how Vanguard operates.
Cheater on Valorant getting already a way zo Bypass the Anti-Cheat. The same will also go for League and that saying thing is the most I hate it
@@rakusaiae Yup. That's another issue. Vanguard might catch them in half the time, but when people just buy new accounts for $2, it doesn't solve the issue whatsoever. They're still going to cheat just as often. The only difference is they'll use more accounts to cheat the same amount.

And there's a reason even Valorant still has cheaters, how many years after release now?
If hardware banning was as good as they acted like, Valorant would have next to no cheaters in the game because of the cost alone after getting caught.

Major BS by Riot's passive agressive attitude. I've been playing the game from 2010 and I've seen barely any cheaters whatsoever, them saying 1 in 15 people are cheaters is completely insane and data pulled out of their ass.

1 in 15 games* - That's 1 in 150 people assuming the games have unique players. Of course these numbers are probably inflated heavily by botted accounts grinding ARAM or Co-OP AI until 30 so they can be sold to a guy who just got banned. I doubt pvp scripting is as prevalent as they are making it sound.

Vanguard is a serious issue for everyone who uses highly sensitive data or personal information they dont want to expose to unnecessary risk.
Considering this, even if we give riot the benefiit of the doubt that they will only ever act benevolent, the risk of running Vanguard to play a fucking videogame while there are so many other games to play out there simply is not worth it.
If i ever play league again it will NOT be on a computer i use for anything important.
Vanguard is just increasing your own vulnerability for NO reason. Vanguard cannot solve cheating and will never be able to. Cheaters will cheat no matter what you do, so in the end we only hurt ourselves for a temporary reprieve with a few fewer cheaters.
"We already lost", "I dont really care", thats the biggest problem, if you wont care it will get worse year by year, thats the point that most peaople dont understand. The problem is not Tencent stealing your data but your system security.
Also you say that you dont care about your browser history, what about video recorded from your camera while you dont even touch your pc, am i saing that it will happen? no, but with kernal level access you have unlimited access to every hardwer pieace that your pc have including camera.

Their statistics are way out of proportion, everyone knows Co-op vs AI games are flooded with bots, having 4 or 5 every game, yet they included those in the numbers? How odd, it's like they're trying to bump the numbers up so people are scared into agreeing with the use of Vanguard.
Out of all ways rito could manipulate with data and make vanguard looks legit, they did it in the worst way. Everyone know its spyware and these 1 out of 5 games is just huge bs. Playing since 2013. 90% of his shitty arguments were answered in the blogpost. This video is so bad its not worth a time to watch. They don't need root level anticheat to spy on you. ANY app can do that just as effectively if they wanted to. If you dont trust RIOT, you better uninstall all their games, vanguard does not change a thing (btw this is exactly what riot said in an actual sentence in the article)

If you have it on while playing league, probably. When you wanna play league or valo, you prob have to restart your computer and not use your clicker.
Shit like that is my concern when they're being intentionally vague to "confuse cheaters". You get banned in league if you use cheating software for another game, but what constitutes cheating software? Will running autoit or AHK to remap keybinds in an offline single player game count? How about mods or other 3rd party tools?
I've had a couple mobile games pull this nonsense, where the game won't load because their anticheat scanned my phone and decided I had something they didn't like, but it won't tell you what it has an issue with. My phone has never been rooted, has no sketchy apps installed, and I spent hours trying to figure it out before I gave up and un-installed it.
I will be interested to see how this affects things, the fact that smurf accounts are being generated by bots and sold dirt cheap is a massive reason there is no fear from players who intentionally ruin games. Also I thought Cheating was a thing of the past but this article makes me think back to the games where I was dumping on someone and they couldnt land anything to them then becoming a god suddenly landing everything, Or the games where It felt like their skill shots couldn't miss, and it made me feel like I was walking into them.
personally i do not like or trust that they are doing that, i have very rarely seen a cheater, i think the anti-cheat goes too far if you know the details of it

As a small dev, you can license anti cheat from the makers( not riot, but there are companys which makes anticheat only)
I don’t think he’s arguing that small companies are incapable of having an anti cheat. But having an affective anti cheat without dumping a shit ton of money into your game is near impossible. If you don’t have enough players to actually warrant the cost of the license, most games just run a basic anti cheat like battleye. On the flip side, like this dev states. Cheaters are incentivized to pay for cheats in games that give them “glory” so most small time fps games don’t even have to worry about the plague because nobody is really grinding for a rank etc
Glad I decided I wouldn't be installing vanguard. It went live and bricked PCs almost immediately. So invasive it can brick your PC on download lmao that's healthy
On the champ designs part, you are wrong. Design here is not change the combo patterns, but how combo timing works. Withs scripters you can't make the timing tight and let it be strong. That make the delta between scripted players and normie be stupidly high. Example Alistair combos. It was an huge problems in vn before they changed it that ap cow top just murder everyone and noone will say anything cause you got shat on by a cow( negative term in vn) in bronze. It got to the point where my local pc bang renamed to no cow allowed 😂
I hate how they use the 15% of games, when the majority of those games are leveling up bots, not true scripters ruining ranked games.

Botting creates fresh level 30s. Fresh 30s makes buying a fresh account to smurf. Script. Etc. Very accessible. Botting makes everything worse

I was well aware of scripts for years. S13 it got so bad in gold/plat climbing it was easily 1 in 3 games i was getting a scripter. I would review and submit to riot on vod review. It just continued and got worse and worse. So screw it. I got the scripts too. Shot to Emerald easy. Have countless accounts. Used it all the way until 3 days ago. Barely had any bans its just after a time 80% wr match you against mostly other scripters. I have 40+ League accounts. I just log on to w/e rank i feel like playing. I have accounts from iron to diamond. I thought for abit that it was because riot knew. No... Its just impossible to maintain an %80+ WR as a human. After 1k games its impossible except for the 1%. The game has been broken for along time. Imagine being a 660M a year company..... and still being that bad...

One of the perspectives people never think about is the size of Riot and how many people would be searching for a way to sue them if they take any info from your PC using Vanguard. They couldn't spy for a day without going under as a company.
I don't think you understand how that works. You sign a privacy policy giving them full access to your PC. There is nothing to sue on, all data collected is under what you signed. Just don't install Vanguard and give them the finger. Biggest pos company in gaming history.

I quit league of legends, and I suggest you should do the same. It is not a needed evil, I don't want Tencent to have direct access to my entire pc. I don't want to install a rootkit. I don't want another security vulnerability added to my pc. It is stupid that they need it, as I personally never really have seen any cheaters, it is mainly only in Asian countries, and I don't want to have this just for that.

A lot of the people afraid of Vanguard are cheaters and they are trying to gaslight so that they don't lose their advantage they've been abusing for years and years. I played League for over ten years. I'd quit for a while, come back and after about six weeks lock in again. And then i'd go on a mad win streak of 10 + games, I'd get reported for cheating by sore losers, and then League would MMR system would put me against cheater after cheater after cheater to slow down my LP gains to get me back to a 50% win rate. Vanguard is the only answer for league. I'd also like to see linking our country ID numbers to our accounts. LIke they do in Korea and China.

Can't they just make vanguard a requirement for master ranked games and above? Why do low ELO players need this, for us it's just a game and doesn't affect low ELO that often
it affects them the majority of the time. Most players aren't master most are actually around gold. The problem is they use the cheats on a new account to either boost or to just actually cheat to go to high elo.
low elo is filled with bots
cheats/bots are an actual problem in iron since iron accounts actually sell for alot, but its hard to intentionally lose without getting flagged and banned so they use advanced bots for it
