A wild camp on Tarn Crag (Easedale)

- Please join me for a wild camp in Far Easedale.
Tarn Crag is a fell in the Central Fells of the English Lake District. Strictly the name refers only to the rock face looking down upon Easedale Tarn, but Alfred Wainwright applied it to the entire ridge lying between the Easedale and Far Easedale valleys in his Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells

13 minutes of serenity. Beautifully put together (as always)....liked the annotation, google earth images and knowledge of the surrounding area, felt very professional and helped with the enjoyment of it. Also enjoyed the mix of still images & video. Thanks, very much, for posting.

Thank you Mike, I must apologise for my absence, I've had a few health issues which have prevented me from getting out lately. Things are slowly improving, I just need to try and get my fitness back now. Tarn Crag was ideal having an easy walk in and a modest ascent. It felt really good despite the hazy light, and on exploring the top I found a couple of really good locations for future camps. I trust things are good with you. Atb Anthony

Hey Anthony......the master of videography is back.............what a beautiful day for walking/camping, never been to that side of Easedale before, great rugged scenery. You did manage to get a 'sunset' timelapse after all, a dry tent is always a bonus, a lovely ethereal sunrise. That was a long way back to your camera at 10-23........beautiful tranquil 2mins of footage to end on Anthony, yet another classic..............ATB.......Stu.....👍👌🎥🎬.

Tarn Crag was the perfect fell, an easy walk in and a gentle gradient to the summit, plenty of wild camping spots and water too! I may return as I found some more great locations with views to match! I took the the regular path to Easedale Tarn as my return leg, that's where I took the closing shots, but you knew that! Atb Anthony
@@anthonypayne1 I'm sorry to hear you have been unwell Anthony but glad you are getting back on track......know what you mean.......im 60 this year and to tell you the truth I am falling to pieces day by day lol, after going for a walk I feel fine but every morning straight out of bed its a struggle. I love seeing all the cute sheep in the beginning of the video! This is such a beautiful landscape and it reminds me of some of the really remote parts of Northern California that are a bit more inland. You did definitely have a nice timelapse sunset and sunrise in the video despite the clouds. I think this is the very first time I've ever seen anybody other than yourself in this in your video. Those time lapses were stunning; otherworldly, ethereal. That was a beautiful wildcamp Anthony, don’t know about you but I always want to stay up there once I get to the summit; a wildcamp fulfils that desire. Been on Tarn Crag a few times and never had a view yet but I do remember a lot of false summits going up. I had a similar day last week with the haze and no clouds, which I got told was pollution, good to see you did eventually get a great time lapse, with another catching the morning sun, it may not have been perfect but as near as dam it! Loved your camp spot up there mate, I’ve never been up Tarn Crag, but been on a few fells around there. I particularly love Sergeant Man. And I saw that the Sun was setting directly across that top👍👍👍
Beautifully filmed as always, shame about the haze up higher, but still looked a wonderful trip. And isn’t it great to be at Easedale Tarn on your own👍👍👍 at the best time of day.

Thanks mate, yeah it was great to out on the mountains again! Tarn Crag has an easy walk in and the ascent is quite modest so this was perfect for an unfit hiker like myself! Lol! I had a good explore around the tops and found some more great locations with views to match, so I hope to return at some point. Atb Anthony

Hi Robin, I believe so! It's the only one where AW doesn't climb to the summit either! At least that's how it's left in his guides, he may have climbed it after publication though.
@@anthonypayne1 that's like Sir Hugh Munro. He didn't climb the InPinn so he made the lower top the Munro. 🤷🏻♂️

Planned to do Tarn Crag myself whilst camping at the tarn but the weather was too foggy, so I didn't go. Next time. Nice views from up there.

Thanks Mate! 👍 Yeah, it was a little frustrating not being able to get a timelapse or three in Lol! Always a bonus to wake up to a dry tent too! The map animation I use is Google Earth Studio. Just google it (it's free to download) you just need to fill out a form to tell them what you want to use it for ( I just said it was for my CZcams channel) It may take a day or so, but they will send you an email with a link to download it.
