Following along with my (paid) copy of MM for the first time -- this is really fantastically clever. I would have done the operation at 2:47 in such a more agonizingly difficult, ugly, painful way. But this... the three vert trick. Wow. Just so cool. Well done, man!
Man.... i saw this video when you released it, and i was amazed by it, still.. by my ignorancy i wasn't able to use it properly in all these years, nowadays i'm looking into Fusion 360 more and more and right now i realise (watching this again years later) how amazing this Flatten tool was, and still is. It's simply amazing, if i respected you before Machin3, i have to say that you're a damn GOD now that i realise how good your work is/was!
@@MACHIN3 i'll give a try today using it on Edges then. By the way Machin3, are you working on a model project? you were the guy who bring me into 3D after i saw your amazing robot/mech modeling in Blender, since then i didnt saw anything new in terms of your personal projects, only the ones on your Artstation. Are you planning on making some new Mechs in the future? or you'll stay on thr programming addons side? Have a nice day man.
I didn't plan to go down this route. Originally I intended to create scripts just to improve my own workflow. When I then started selling DECALmachine, as I thought it might be useful to other people as well, I set things in motion, that are still moving forward today. Ever since the first DECALmachine release I was trying to balance tool development and the associated customer support and documentation work, with creating art. Sadly, I failed badly and haven't really managed to create any refined/finished designs or pieces of art since. Developing tools requires creating lots and lots of very simple objects for testing, and it seems to numb my artistic abilities. Hopefully I can finally find the balance this year, do tooldev and art at equal amounts. Thanks for your support and kind words, much appreciated!
@@MACHIN3 Wow, i didn't think it'll be so deep in terms of Art change, by far your Addons are the best hard-Surface/modeling tools in blender, no doubt. If we mix it with hardOps+Boxcutter you can really change the entire Blender modeling style for sure. I've seen your demos and showcase of new functions many times and i can tell you that "those simple shapes" you make so quick and easy are actually "harder" than you think for the average user, i'm really sure that if you dedicate at least 1 month doing research, maybe sketches and start your own project, even if it is half-character, you're gonna make it and it'll be extremelly well done, that no one will realise it was made in Blender, no doubt about it :) Thanks for the chat and wish you the best, you're extremelly talented Machin3 ;)
Awesome addon, fits perfectly to my pipeline, but one question,i dont have same menu as you have,i downloaded 0.5.13 version?is there a reason why yours has much more options?
1. Using the cleanup tool in MACHIN3tools, mapped to the 3 key. 2. I'm not sure what you mean, is 2:27 the timecode you meant? I'm merging a vert and then removing and edge there. Not adding any vertex.
Each one of these tools is worth the price of Mesh Machine alone. Love the clarity of these feature videos too.
Actual tools Blender 2.8 needs. Thank you again, for making all these!
Tools I never knew I needed.
this literally solves every angle matching/cleaning problem I'm having while doing hard surface modeling so beautiful
holy crap this is incredible. goodbye scale z 0 and then manually eyeballing it back into place!
Geniously crafted tools. Every single one of em
Thanks Harry, working like crazy on the next tools right now (in HyperCursor).
Great stuff, loving the voice over so much easier to understand.

Happy to hear that. As for the flatten tool, I've been using it a lot recently using edge selections: two edges that meet in a corner.

Hi! How did you desolve this vertices in 2:19 min? And how did you get additional vertex on a crossing meshs in 2:27?

this is very ok
