We all know Machin3 is a top-tier operator when it comes to tool creation for helping make our modelling lives in Blender more productive and enjoyable but at 0:19, the shader on those end caps of the squarish object looks cool the way it applies a diffuse blurring of the underlying surface. I'd love to see Machin3 discuss how that effect is created.
You can check it out it's in the Decal Basics example file that comes with DECALmachine :) It's just a transmissive plastic-like material with a little roughness. There is a knurled normal map on it too, but it isn't very visible anymore in Eevee Next. I actually preferred the look of legacy Eevee here, Eevee Next blurs too much and changes how much is blured based on the view's distance, which is not realistic.
Hello, I bought the addon because of the great ease it provides for various things in Blender, but after watching the video for version 0.8, it’s a bit difficult for me since I don’t know much English and I’m a Spanish speaker. I hope it’s not too much to ask if you could make a more updated one and not go so fast. I struggle a bit, but I appreciate the tool and your effort! 🌟
It's tricky, these videos take significant effort to do, and MACHIN3tools is a very cheap addon, so I can't justify spending too much time something like this. But you can always slow the video down on youtube. Maybe auto-translated subtitles work too? Finally, feel free to just ask what is unclear and I will try to explain things.
Can you at least update the Hypercursor for 4.2 for previous backers pwease? before the final release?
Everyone who got HC access in the past, always gets access to the latest pre-release (of which there have been 17 so far) by being at minimum in the Hype tier.
@@MACHIN3 I got one of the first versions of it with HC access and I've been on minimum tier for awhile but when I log in to download I get error and the addon is 0 kb dummy file.

is there any "Introduction to Decal Machine" training we could get, it feel that is more powerfull than we think it is but I can't just find propper tutorial of it
The documentation is layed out in a way that allows you to go through it from simple to more advanced, simply by gong from top to bottom in the sidebar on the left: machin3.io/DECALmachine/docs/ Each page tends to have short embedded videos covering the various tools and the workflow in general. Start at "Pie Menu"

Sorry for being stupid but what is the simplest way to get decals or a trimsheet like this from Blender into a game engine like unity? :)
With trimsheets you can just export it like any other mesh. All the detail exists on the mesh/UVs already. With decals it makes sense to create an atlas, so multiple or even all decals share a single texture set. See machin3.io/DECALmachine/docs/export_introduction/

I don't use max anymore, and even if I were, it has a completely different API and scripting language. It's not a matter of porting it.

Can you create UNREAL ENGINE exporter with simple materials examples for this add-on? Just simple metal and plastic, with roughness and of course with decals added with DECAL MACHINE. I can't find a tutorial to learn how to do it. And this is why I purchased this add-on from you. I wanted to expand my knowledge / portfolio with cool game ready assets. I was hoping that I will learn how to do it, but I can't find a way. I know that you have needed knowledge, I bet many of the users would love to see this functionality. Anyway, I hope that you will do it in the future. Thank you.
I have built the pipeline and explained in detail how to export via decal atlas to Unreal Engine or any other deferred render engine, see machin3.io/DECALmachine/docs/export_atlas/ The particulars on how to set up a decal shader within Unreal Engine, I can't comment on, as I'm not up to date with it and am not using it right now. Everything for you to take your decals out of Blender I have done. It's now your job to learn about decals in Unreal Engine, its advantages and limitations.

I hope to find some time for Unreal Engine after the HyperCursor release. Once I do, I will share what I learn of course. In the meantime I'll gladly hear from anybody else and learn from them.

Hi brother, you're so cool, so far you've got ‘ surface sliding’, is it possible to implement ‘ constrain to edge’ in the future? It's a constraint like MAX, and it's easy to use with adsorption.

It comes with MACHIN3tools and is called M3. Install via the Customize tool, or fetch it manually from the MACHIN3tools/resources folder. See machin3.io/MACHIN3tools/docs/customize/

Hi. If I deactivate the addon and then reactivate it, all my settings/hotkeys go away. I have to set everything up again, is this normal?
Yes, you will lose all addon settings including addon set keymaps, if you deactivate an addon. This is why for an update installation its best to not deactivate it, and instead follow the installation instructions, see machin3.io/MACHIN3tools/docs/installation/#update-installation

Good question, I haven't attempted to find out why make instances real fails, I just built one that works. You can see what it does in operators/assetbrowser.py DisassembleAssembly.dissassemble_assembly()

I'm just extremely careful and don't want to release it too early. When I do release it will come with a long-form tutorial or project walkthrough, otherwise it will be misunderstood I think. Taking lessons here from my previous releases, where despite putting a lot of effort into detailed documentation where each tool got its own video or multiple over time, many people still complained and just went to 3rd party youtube videos, instead. But then they would still come to me and complain when they didn't understand something in those videos, that I didn't even create, or when they struggled to reproduce something.

Your node group connecting to the world output needs to support it, then it will be exposed. All the menu does is look for certain property names, check out the changelog for which ones exactly.

Add a mod key, like Shift + Page Up/Down. Tbh, I havent even looked into what this visibility filtering does, as I don't sculpt, not right now anyway. If you don't find it useful, you could also just deactivate the keymaps.
