Update: I have installed the new display that Lectric sent me, which was pretty simple to do with the right set of hex keys, and went on a 10-mile ride. No error message! I will continue to ride it at least a few more times and will post another update if that changes.
    Thanks for watching!

That was probably one of the most up front and posibly honest review of the Lectric xp bike that I have seen on CZcams. Most other CZcams channels that got this bike for free seem like they were obligated to say only nice things regarding the bike in order to satiate the Lectric company or to solicite paid sponsorship.

Excellent review, and more in-depth than I expected. It's hard to beat the value of $999 for a very competent e-bike. I would have considered one since I was in the market for a folding e-bike, but the three specific reasons were 500 watts on a bike I planned to ride in hilly areas, the latching mechanism, and the key dangling. The motor I could have probably lived with, and the key is just an annoyance, but I have watched XP's come unlatched while riding in group rides, with one guy almost hitting a light pole.

Nice review man, you seem to be a very honest guy and called out the bike on its ups and downs. And yes, I've been wanting an ebike for quite some time, but the price is what kept me from getting one. But as soon as I learned of this bikes I started doing my research, and thanks to your video I'm leaning more into buying one. Thank you and keep up the great work!

It's just what I needed to hear and will be taking my e-bike to a nearby bike shop for a good tune-up. It'll be worth the money to be sure the bike is in perfect riding condition. I think I will also be getting the water-resistant saddle bags they offer, I'm not really into having a basket on a bike.

I actually think this is one of the best "affordable" e-bikes. It is not easy to find a more affordable e-bike with the same or more features as the Lectric. I do agree, the bike requieres considerable fine tuning out of the box, but if you are familiar with bicycles, it is easy and enjoyable. I adjusted the derailleur, adjusted the brakes, lubed it up and boom, no squeaking, brake rubbing, very smooth shifting, etc. If you are not a DIY kind of person, this one might not be for you, but all bicycles require tuneups and checkups. I've rode mine for more than 1,000 miles now, no problems. It seems like a lot of the negatives in the review come if you're used to ridding e-bikes that are considerably more expensive and without having tuned the bike. Still, thanks for the review, very enjoyable Cheers!

I actually just ordered the XP 2.0 step thru. It's reasonably priced and seems reasonably capable for my purposes, anyhow... off road capability, short distance local, and it should be easy to take with in my van for travel purposes. I actually have issues with riding a regular bicycle since 2017, in particular that pedaling causes me to swerve side to side. I can ride something motorized without issue. My hope is that the class 2 capabilities will allow me to practice at eliminating that swerve issue, while I can travel when necessary without the worry due to the full throttle mode. They also have a really good Black Friday sale offer going on right now, which gives me a discount and some nice extras for free. I think it should work out for me reasonably well. I had watched a few reviews before ordering, now I'm looking at some more to get more of an idea what I can expect.

I happened on this vid through a random Google home, which must have picked up that I'm interested in ebikes(Google is a creepy sleuth sometimes). I didn't like the bike (there were several features that would be an issue for me) but I really enjoyed your professional and critical summary. Your honest assessment covered both the positives and negatives, leaving me feeling like you are on the consumers' side rather than a fluff 'sponsored' bit. Thank you!
(Probably TMI, but I have MS and terrible balance issues now. But before I was diagnosed and stopped to raise children I was an avid cycler. I would love to get back to as much of that as I can. I even got a pair of wheels - sort of 'training wheels for grownups'. This bike too heavy for 130lb, handicapped me to pick up on a regular basis, but I'll check out your channel and see if anything else sings to me. I wish you great health and hope you have a wonderful day/week/year!

I am now planning on buying one of these bikes, saw how nice and user friendly they are along with the off-road capabilities. About the racks, the reason they’re expensive is most likely because they’re heavy duty and also there’s virtually no aftermarket racks that would fit that frame and/or that bike specifically and also sit in the right spot. I saw a video about the Lectric XP and liked it but it had no front shocks, when I went looking I found they had the XP 2.0 that has the front fork. As a Lectric XP 2.0 owner (first ebike I ever owned), I felt this was a very fair review. I agree with all the cons that you mentioned especially about the battery life. I think Lectric downgraded the battery from version 1.0 to save on costs so they add additional features like the suspension fork and make it IP-65 water resistant. Wish I had the extra battery life though! But yeah, I agree this is a great ebike for first time buyers 👍

2 years later and I'm choosing this bike because I'm getting it used for $600. Guy said he got new tires last year and I believe a new cassette. Seems like a good used deal due to his maintenance. This bike still has features that some new bikes are skipping.

Also it would’ve been nice if you went into more detail on the settings, Like the cruise control and to switch back-and-forth on the power settings. But other than that it was a OK review👍🏻

I have the original .1.0 and it has been very dependable and no issues. But the computer got very wet on the car rack and I took it apart and let it dry out for a couple of weeks. It now works. I believe the new computer is more waterproof. I did put a new seat and post on but a better post that is from Sun. I like the new 2.0 because of the racks, front shock and larger seat all can be ordered with the bike. The smaller tires should be nicer and make less noise. I don't ride dirt trails but like the wide tires for gravel areas and if you hit some sand shoulders.

A decent e-bike at that very modest price point seems like a winning combination to me. Picking up a spare
battery and a second charger as well as some saddle bags or basket for just over $1200.00 or so is a massive
win in my book. I am seriously considering making this my first e-bike purchase.

Thank you for the video. I just bought online the 2.0 Step Through with the basket package and mirrors. Did you try out the bike lock that you can buy? Why did I buy: This willill be my 2nd ebike. Last year I bought the Walmart E-ride City and just loved the bike for the price I paid. I am 5'2" tall, and like my whole life riding a bike for a taller person...This bike advertised for a height of 4'10". Wow, I will be riding a bike that fits to a short person. Another reason I bought, bike comes fully assembled, at least to a point . More power than my Walmart at only 250Watts. We have some serious long hills here at the Grand Coulee area. My favorite grocery store is located below the 550 foot tall dam, and the Walmart bike would get me up the hill back home, but slow. This bike has more power. Headlight comes with the bike. The available LCD screen. Nice functions to now have over last years price of only $787 e-bike at Walmart. With the Letric bikes SALE price right now, I only paid about $500 dollars more, not counting the extras I bought last year like a basket, cup holder, and other items. IT FOLDS! Disc brakes should be nice. We don't get that much rain in a semi-desert area, so I am not worried about the rain. Last summer, working at home for the dam, I saved a lot of money not having to gas up my car maybe twice all last summer. I am excited. Ivan :)

We bought two Lectric XPs. If yours arrives and works out of the box count yourself lucky. If it does not you'll spend a few hours underneath a brand new bike following emailed trouble shooting guides. If you fix your brand new bike you're lucky again because it's a high hurdle to get Lectric to get a new, working bike sent to you for the good money you've already paid. Things happen, we all understand that. The true measure of a company is how well it puts things on track, and makes a customer happy when things do go wrong. Lectric e-Bikes has a ways to go on this count. Be advised.
