Man you've been at this for some years now much respect
I wish I'd have purchased your books when they first came out
Always glad to here comments like yours and thanks for letting me know.
Greg, where I am in Iowa, I never see blocking between the trusses at the top of walls. Is there pros and cons to this? I think we usually keep them open for ventilation to flow from soffits to roof peak. I would also love to see a barrage of examples how additions tie in to existing buildings. Keep it up!
The blocking helps to stabilize, but it's really up to the engineer on whether they are needed. You can always drill holes through blocks for ventilation and check out one of the home addition projects here to learn more about tie in to existing house.
