    This is a fantastic video. So clear. When my dog (or a friend's dog) "removed" a button I thought the cushion would have to be professionally repaired. For ten bucks of equipment I fixed all three (!), and just fixed one again. I usually takes a few tries to push the needle through the original hole, but it comes out like new. Thanks for posting this.

    This worked perfectly, thank you!! So simple yet effective! Next step is to practice tension, but again lost a button just before selling a couch and such a simple fix saved me hundreds of dollars in loss not knowing how simple it could be❤

    Fixed four buttons on the couch that my new rescue sibling pups removed. They decided that it’d be a fun game to disconnect the buttons, but thankfully not destroying the cushions or swallowing the buttons! Lol.
    Thank you for this video for showing me how to fix them. ☺️

    Just what I needed. I like your method. I have the special cording and 20 buttons lined up for reupholstered RV cushions. I'm using shank buttons and the only draw back is the fabric I choose a marine coated canvas has no give. I have experienced this problem in the past with other upholstery work that it's a bad idea to try to use a non stretch fabric in place of one that had some give to it. I had a sample of the fabric and thought it wasn't so stiff and had a softer hand than what I got after ordering 20 yards. So there you go...even when you try to think ahead some times plans don't go as PLANNED. As the saying goes life happens when you are making other plans. I've finished all 12 cushions and just need to get the buttons on. I'm not sure I want to follow the original button holes. I think they look a bit low on the cushion but the fabric is not needle or pin friendly. So I can see a struggle with the needle and cord process to begin with. Once of course you are onto both sides it should work out much better. I like the looks of your three buttons. My dinette seats would be wide enough to add a third button too. The sofa seats are better off with 2 on a side. I made the dinette seats to be flipped to either side so I want good buttons. I may for fun put an animal whimsical button on one side and the celtic dragon buttons the other. That way depending on which way my whimsical side is leaning I have two cute options. The sofa has a lip that wraps over a bar at the back top of the jack knife sofa frame. So I also added strips of velcro to prevent shifting and moving about. I redesigned the entire jack knife sofa so it now has 5 inches wider twin bed and yet will open up to a full or mate with the dinette twin to make a small King size bed for couples. We prefer to use it as two twins so no one has to climb over the other person to get to the restroom in the night. Thank you I like your demonstration the best of all I've watched and you make it so clear. I've done buttons years ago but it's been more than 30 I believe. I thought about skipping them because of the lack of give in the fabric but it's clear looking at the cushions back in the RV they would look more professional and finished. Funny how something so simple makes a difference. The fabric might not give well as it seems to behave more like a vinyl yet it clearly is not vinyl. The coating and weave structure of top fabric behaves like a lot of vinyls. Then again many vinyls give you some give. Thanks for your sharing such a clear and easy to grasp method.

    QUESTION: I have two long sofa cushions in which the upholstery got me all excited when I spied a zipper but was short lived with the realization that the fabric is still attached to cushions with over 2 dozen or so buttons per cushion Duh... Would it be to ambitious of me to cut all the button cords on a cushion at once so i can wash the fabric and then reinstall it and the buttons after? I have sucessfully machine washed other portions of this set such as cushion covers from a wing back chair (not tufted) so I dont have a concerns about fabric shrinkage or anything but just think it might be naive of me to not atleast consider there could be other factors I'm failing to take into consideration as this woul
    d be a 1st attempt at replacing a tufted cushion button ever. Any input or advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated I will try my best to be patient and show restrain and not just say F'' it - I'm going for it :) Thanks

    Hi I bought a sofa,back cushions and side cushions have buttons and zips, but I can't find away to remove them to clean? Thinking oh they must clip off from the inside? No I can't seem to find away without damaging the covers, so why put zips on the covers, I think its stupidly not thought through properly, any suggestions would be much appreciated

    • @BradsWorld
      @BradsWorld Před rokem

      Hey David- They put zippers because they have to get the foam inside the cover to begin with. Then the buttons go on as decoration. No good way to foam a cover without zippers. Bad news is you have to cut off the buttons to get the foam out and reapply the buttons again, but luckily you won't have to do it too often. Buttons only take a minute each once you have done it and have the correct needle. Good Luck!

    Okay, but that's not a knitting needle. Knitting needles don't have eyes. People, FYI you need a long upholstery needle. Don't ask your knitting friend to lend you a long knitting needle, because it won't work!
