Button Tufting - How to Video

Here is a quick video on Button Tufting by Sleep Boutique Mattress shop (formerly Labbe Bedding) in Calgary. There are many variations; however in this video we are going from button to button. The concept of knots would be the same. Ensure you use tufting twine that has the correct tensile strength.

Wait--so you're actually using TWO buttons, right? One on each side of the cushion? The video is crystal clear. But it actually creates TWO tufted sides--not one. Or am I missing something...

Actually, this technique creates no tufted sides, or no tufts anyway. Just creates two sides with a button.

So it’s called TWINE? Rather than thread? Will it change based off if I’m using leather or silk fabric to for example Diamond tuck some lobby seat cushions?
I bought some faux silk/leather… I bought some long upholstery needles.. I bought some Diamond buttons 25mm & some Diamond Tacks 25mm also…. Now I just need the thread or TWINE? What kind do I get? Help! (Lol)

Of course this doesn't work if you have fabric involved, since the tuft requires fabric to fold to make the tuft. This would work on loose cushions with button on each side (like lawn furniture).
This should be titled: "How to tie a button" since there was no stuffing shown.
